Planescape really set the bar as far as CRPGs go for me.
The Brothel for Slaking Intellectual Lusts, being able to advance characters by talking to them (especially Morte learning new curses), and just the depth and level of complexity involved in the whole thing blew my mind.
I find it hard to pick a favorite NPC - though Dakkon comes close. Vhailor, Nordom and Ignus were all inspired characters.

Really Dakkon? Didn't like him at all :) Was a big fan of the tiefling girl and Ignus though. The brothel was fun indeed and I also loved the whole wererat chapter and how Sigil was depicted in general. The game is the only reason why I still possess the AD&D planescape materials :)

Shrugs - the pseudo-zen aspect appealed to my late teens brain I suppose. Plus I found the concept of the karach blade quite cool.
Tiefling girl was Annah. Fall-from-Grace was a nice succubus aversion too.

Sorry folks, I've been consumed with playing Elder Scrolls Skyrim, beta testing Old Republic, and attending a horror movie convention where I got the much anticipated autograph of Phil Fondacaro
It's been a fantastic week.

Ok now back, and just staring at all the kit that needs cleaning and washing. Just can't find the mojo to get into it. Blood sweat and tears wont smell any worse tomorrow than they do all baked on now... so a few posts then lots of zzz's!
What a smash-fest that was, unbelievable.

Ok Jazz, I felt bad that I forgot how little damage arrows do against skeletons. However, after you fired your arrows against them for round two, then I felt better. I guess Jazz has never fought skeletons with bow and arrow before! Does Jazz have anything more bludgeoning than arrows?

Guess what I did over the weekend! Gave myself concussion! Yay weekends.
That yay isn't even sarcastic, funniest way to get a concussion ever.
Went to a meal/party at a friend's house on Friday. Went upstairs to use the bathroom, coming back down the stairs I jumped the last 4 or 5 steps because things like that are fun. Their stairs have a big wooden bannister and I managed to hit my elbow (or more accurately the nerve in my elbow) on a protuding bit of wood. Entire arm went numb, and I don't remember anything from that point to about a minute later.
Apparently I walked into the room next door, stood there for a few seconds and then just keeled over and headbutted a coffee table super hard. Woke up with my face covered in blood, a load of people crowded around me and a pounding headache.
Went to A&E to get the cut glued back together and I was still all woozy so they kept me overnight for observation. Got home Saturday morning after spending the whole night awake because of headaches and spent the day asleep. Sunday I sat around not doing much because I wasn't allowed to skate with a concussion and reading or looking at a computer screen brought the headache back. Feeling a bit better today and the headache is gone so yeah. Odd weekend that.

I still occasionally re-read the Drizzt books - books like Homeland and Crystal Shard still have the magic for me. But Zyren - if you didn't like Orc King - you will hate the next two in that series. Better to stop where you are and remember the earlier series.
Still waiting on The Crippled God to come out in the smaller book size in Malaysia before I go and read it - so Malazan series is still going for me.
Man I need to get sent offshore again soon though - it's where I get to do most of my reading... have a stack of books piling up to get through: On Stranger Tides, World War Z, some Hornblower books, still have some Sharpe series to get through, Lovecraft short stories... the list goes on.

I can really recommend (at least If you like very heroic, nearly manowar like fantasy - with some self-doubts) David Gemell's Drenai Saga.
Also the Delta Green novels and the Afterblight Chronicles.
@ Mark: I also loved Hornblower, and I have officially stopped reading new Drizzts after Orc King :)

Shifty |

Hornblower is awesome, though it was the TV series that got me in, one of the best shows made. Sharpe was also great, but not AS impressive.
Joe Abercrombie is a great writer and his series is excellent - 5 dark and nasty 'low magic' fantasy books I'd recommend to any other person with a dark sense of humour who can deal with anti-heroes.
Brent Weeks - Assassin line was also some ok light reading.

Sebastian DeGray |

Read the Hornblower books as kid and loved them. They still hold up, although the last one seems a bit rushed. The BBC production was fantastic.
Have enjoyed the Sharpe series as well.
I picked up Ambercrombie's book about three times. Got up to 2/3 through it, but found I just didn't care about anyone but Black Dow and his men. All the other characters I found to be over-stereotypical to the point of almost cartoonish. I like gritty and dark like the Black Company and Martin's Game of thrones, but I just didn't care about most of Ambercrombie's characters.
Donaldson's Gap series did the same for me. When almost every single character is an anti-hero, the reading becomes just a list of perversions and crimes. Doesn't hold my interest.

In case you guys needed another reason to not have sex with animals.
Oh sure, ruin all our fun.

In case you guys needed another reason to not have sex with animals.
But then how are we to repopulate the Minotaur, Orc and conservative populations other than by joining with cattle, pigs and donkeys?

I believe I have seen him walking his dog in my neighborhood (south capital). Haven't pulled the geek and approached him, because I can't get too close to confirm if its him, as my terrier freaks when she sees his dog and so wouldn't really be able to have a conversation. But I have seen this person twice and probably need one more sighting to satisfy my suspicion that it is him.

Zyren, what are your thoughts on a cleric trying to cast a spell that she has not memorized, something like say, remove paralysis. I doubt this is in the rules, but what sort of penalty would you consider if she was to try and cast it?
