And I wouldn't use any kicks in a combat situation since I think I am unused to hitting resistance rather then empty air so it might throw me off balance. Especially since when you're kicking one foot is off the ground.
That is quite true - you give up stability when you throw a kick. It's another reason why I prefer very low, fast kicks that are thrown in as an addition to a response to an attack, rather than a kick being the response.
Basically - as they throw a punch or grab me, they'll see my hands respond, but what they don't see is my rear leg coming in and crashing my instep against their ankle/shin. That immediately helps take their attention away from what I'm really wanting to do, which is immobilize the offending limb or counterattack, depending entirely on the threat level.
DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT A LAWYER AND THIS SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN AS LEGAL ADVICE. THIS IS FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE AND PRIVATE, UNOFFICIAL CONVERSATIONS WITH INDIVIDUAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS.
In the US, in almost all states (not getting into "stand your ground" laws), you are allowed to defend yourself with an amount of force commensurate with the level of threat you feel yourself to be in. It's a bit subjective and has some grey areas, but *some* basic rules apply - is a weapon involved, what kind of weapon, what is the size difference between the assailant and victim, and the genders of everyone involved. Whether gender should be a factor or not, in the US a female is much more likely to be absolved of excessive force if her attacker is a much larger male - the idea is that she can reasonably assume that he could kill her with his bare hands, so she felt she needed to stab him in the throat to end the threat to her life. I'm not saying there isn't some validity to that, but I also find it a bit sexist.
Cops at the scene will frequently make judgement calls, but the DA always has the power of deciding whether you should be charged with a crime while you were defending yourself. It always comes back to how much force did you use to stop your attacker, and if there's video of it.

Lord Harraman Ridh, baron of Ridh-Arath

he occasionally organizes some for infrequent visitors, though he never remains past the sunset),
as Lord Harraman Ridh mother was secretly a powerful hag and he
... uh, not sure the best way to suggest editing this; that said, this is proooobably the best, as it just follows your current wording:
"as Lord Harraman Ridh's mother was secretly a powerful hag, and he"
It still has a bit of awkward wording, but it's awkward in a way that I write sometimes myself, so I'm not sure exactly how to suggest a fix. It's an artifact of trying to be clear in context, so... I'unno.
though mostly lacking his mother's magical
to avoid exposingonehimself,
While "oneself" isn't exactly incorrect, it somewhat comes off as awkward phrasing, at least to me.
Also, you might want to put "(+3 bonus)" behind greater magic fang just so that rubes like me don't have to look it up and do the math. Then again, you might not want to, given that it's not standard formatting procedure - I could see sticking to more standard formatting being preferred.
Similarly, I'm not sure if you want to mention the "+13" bonus after his curse bite and curse sting; I don't know if there's a standard format for similar abilities, as I can't exactly recall seeing a monster with similar abilities - the closest I can come up with are abilities with DCs or specific attack or CMB values, which, since your DCs are variable and you lack attack or CMB values, is probably why nothing is listed in parenthesis.
So, long story short ("Too late!") it's your call. Neither are recommendations, merely observations.
Awesome NPC!

Very true! And, let me be clear, appropriate caution is always warranted, regardless of pets and what is and is not known. Most actual contagions and plagues came about as a result of powerful connections between humans and animals.
However, mostly, it struck me as funny that, "oh no, handling pet poop might be daaaaaaaaaangerous (if we don't take care of ourselves) ((see caveats))" seems like such a revelation.
(Also the correlation/causation thing. Totally legitimate and accurate, but still funny, aided by being written in a humorous style.)
EDIT: this was being written prior to CY's post, but I'm leaving it here, 'cause it's a funny response to either what he says or what FH says. So, good times, either way! :D

I think the cleaning crew accidentally knocked my wireless mouse off my office desk. The left click button is loose, squeaking, and has far more travel in it than it did for the 5 years prior to this. Still works fine for single clicks, but double clicks are a challenge.
And I've managed to fix the mouse. Yay. Don't have to buy a new one. The squeak from the button was loud enough that one of my techs started looking around for an actual mouse in the office.

Trouble is, I'm down to maybe an hour of stuff left and two hours of work left.
C'mon, working groups! You KNOW you want to post one more training session today...

Oh, I saw the thing about the car getting repo'd and I'll post something out-of-order from the trip: We got to see a tour bus do a hit-and-run on a Disney shuttle.
Our bus drivers were dying laughing at his incompetence, then horrified when he drove away.
And the lead chaperone provided the police with the key photo that included the license plate number.
Our drivers were ecstatic. They were saying the hit and run alone would lose the guy his license for 5 years. If there were people on the shuttle it'd be 10 years. If there were kids on the shuttle it would be permanent.
But HOW can you be a professional bus driver and NOT know you're going to get busted for a hit-and-run at fricking DISNEYLAND?!?!?!

NobodysHome's cluelessness.
The iPad doesn't have cellular access, so unless it's near an unsecured wireless network, it can't be found.
Ah, it's one of those. Well, they are (or at least should be) cheaper.

dogs are just as bad, and tend to roll around in or eat their crap before slobbering all over you. Their higher body temperature kills most but not all parasite and they do rely on humans to physically dispose of the stuff for them.

Slight correction, the city requires you to pick it up, the dog could care less, and in some cases is quite irked with you when you do ("you a~$+!%$, I left that for my girlfriend to roll in!").

Scout, my new kitten, took some time to break in to loving me, but she leans into petting now and will let me cuddle her for a bit.
Quinzelle (named after Harleen), on the other hand, Tala's new spoiled diva b@+*%, is still fighting some dominant behavior. When she clawed me like a rabid tornado on crack she found out what a cold shower feels like. She gives me a wide berth now.
Actually, both are extremely independent. The dogs are terrified of both. Hunter just wants to be their friend so bad and keeps getting clawed in the face by both. Scout likes laying in windows watching the birds. Quin likes nothing but to fume in a corner and to be treated like an Empress while she growls at you if you don't do it fast enough.
They're sisters about a year old that were a couple blocks from our house. The owners are moving to a one pet only hood and they didn't want to separate the pair.
I don't know why. Quin seems to hate Scout almost as much as the rest of the world.

Speaking of which... while I'm waiting for Impus Minor to finish his dinner, here's a whirlwind review of the tour up to the point that he finishes eating:
Wednesday, April 3: In the morning I went to Sprouts, Safeway, and Costco to pick up food for the trip. I think the thing that impressed me the most about Sprouts is that it had absolutely nothing that I felt like buying. I get all my organic fresh fruits and vegetables at either my corner store or the farmer's market, and pretty much everything else was made by drunk and/or stoned hippies who decided that anything they make that's organic, vegan, and gluten-free is automatically fantastic, so who the heck cares what it tastes like?
It was... appalling...
In the afternoon I had a pleasant walk to the Avis on Gilman street and... holy carp! They had my car ready on time!!! And it was the right car!!!! And it was clean!!!!! Serious points for Avis.
After that it was time to pick up the kids and head out to Alameda for our TSA pre-screening appointments. I told them not to screw around and get me arrested. I shouldn't have bothered. TSA pre-screening is utterly pointless.
We went into a small office. The woman took our fingerprints and pictures, we paid $85, and that's it. No questions. No nothing. I could have done everything she did at any notary public in the state. But apparently she is TSA-certified and a notary isn't, so whatever.
On our way home we stopped by Al's Big Burger for dinner, I helped the kids pack, and I was snug in bed by 6:30 pm. Because I know what Thursdays are like...

For the record, now we have two dogs, two cats, and two rats, and yes, the cats are on edge because of this.
We decided should Scout or Quin nom on Chichi or Bulma, that's just something that can happen to a rat with cats around. Sad, but we won't punish the cats; we want them to stop outside pests after all.
Still, we don't let the rats out of the cage anywhere near the cats. Hunter anf Memphis are surprisingly nice to the rats, though.
