I had a job as a telegraph operator, but I wasn't very good at it. You could say I was a weapon of Morse destruction.

I'm not sure if being nekkid was at fault.

Very nice. Too bad the old X-Wing games weren't made with this type of controller in mind. My kill count would have been sky-high, no pun intended.

I just now thought of an interesting computer game. A Tetris-like game that uses mahjongg tiles. Unlike Tetris, where you have to clear rows, in this game (let's call it "falling tiles," for simplicity) you have to get matching tiles adjacent to each other. Then all affected tiles vanish, adding a set number of points to the score. Like Tetris, when a column of tiles reaches a certain height, the game ends. Thoughts?

The last couple of posts in Scint's kids' game's thread reminded me of this scene.

Did I get the apostrophes right?

First thought, isn't that sorta like Bejewled? Of course, those types of games do seem fairly popular.

I was thinking doctor mario myself.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I forgot about that (of course, I never played it so I'd be more surprised if I remembered it), but yeah that would probably be a better comparison.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Played none of those games, except Mahjongg and Tetris.

"I pounce! With Panda speed!"

Of the two, it's definitely closer to Dr. Mario, but the truth is it's a unique enough concept (compared to, say, Bejeweled or Candy Crush Saga or Dr. Mario or Tetris) that it can work as its own thing.

The kind of day I’m having: I woke up with a dislocated thumb and a black eye. It sounds like a more exciting night than it was. My thumb popped when I reached for my alarm clock and I had to put it back to rights. (Ow!) And the eye is because my sinuses are so swollen I literally got a black eye from the inside. Pretty impressive shiner too. My husband keeps hovering because he’s afraid I’m going to faint again. (I made the mistake of trying to cook last night and just as finished clearing dirty dishes off the stove I turned around and hello, floor, we meet again). Pretty sick, very behind on my word count, and not able to manage basic chores. Kidlet is sick too which is brilliant because it’s the last week before exams so it’s basically all about helping him fake well well enough that he doesn’t get sent home as there is no time to make up work.

Argh! So tired of my body being all broken and out of order! >:(

Hopefully it will undergo some sort of Atlantean transformation there and one day rise again on giant hydraulic legs to wage war on the dry-landers...

Yes. Very much so. And everything else!

That said, pray for her, as she's:

- a) taking care of a sick husband
- b) trying not to get sick herself
- c) trying to to let her kids get sick
- d) finish prep for dinner mystery theater she's leading (the school she teaches)
- e) dealing with everything that comes with being an English teacher
- f) dealing with everything that comes with being a Drama teacher
- g) taking care of two children when I inevitably pass out
hopefully this will not happen tonight; I tried last night, but daggummit being sick in our chairs did me in, even with the noise and occasional person jumping on top of me; I am intentionally not doing anything "intense" (that is sadly little, right now) to hopefully hold out tonight

Yesterday I: managed to strip the bed and do that laundry, managed to stop one place (for food with my Youngest) and eat nothing there before immediately retiring to the house and collapsing and being stuck all day for various related-to-being-sick issues.

Yesterday she: fed the children breakfast (only half of the Youngest's, but he was going to get more with me), packed up both her and the Eldest, dropped off the Eldest to school, worked all day (she had no lunch break; she's supposed to have a planning period to eat on when there was not lunch break, but she instead filled in for someone else who was sick during that time), made sure the Aftercare knew Eldest would be there today, did the drama thing, contacted the caterer and arranged that, worked late (but not as late as planned), picked up the Eldest from school, shopped with Eldest in tow taking special care to acquire stuff to help me, came home, made dinner, helped me make the bed, put both boys to bed, and fiiiiiiiiiiinally watched a Dark Matter.

She's awesome.

I played such a game in 90s on Atari. It was like Tetris except the blocks where always composed of 3 units, horizontal, and pushing fire cycled the symbols within each unit. The composite units were not solidly connected to each other like in Tetris - when they heat an uneven surface each unit fell to the lowest possible space available.

I don't remember how many tiles you had to match to make them vanish - three I think but I am not sure. I don't recall the game's name, either.

Thank God you don't live here. You wouldn't be able to go to any grocery store. It's become obnoxious, I'm considering actually joining such a campaign/crusade. At least two stores were doing Christmas ads on Halloween night(although one was funny with someone dresses as Santa for Halloween).

I get to be a butt about it because I do my shopping at the corner store and the farmer's market, and eat out at the local restaurants. So the only "hardship" I see is not being able to go to Target or Safeway for staples such as laundry detergent, but I haven't heard a Safeway ad in ages, so Target's pretty much the only place in danger of my "boycott".

But seriously... stop stealing my Thanksgiving!!!!

Have you guys ever walked by a scene playing out at a house, that left you wondering if your watching a burglary or a gosh darn weird late night moving?

Because seriously, either I just walk past the most complete burglary ever (like the dinner table + chair and bed being lifted out through a balcony window, and lowered to the ground by rope), or these guys are going to have a s!!+load of broken stuff, for moving their things in almost pitch black darkness.

So nerding

I do that

Also I'm in a delerium

So

Okay, so in PF sin magic is thus:

- Abjuration: envy; Diane is not abjuration - conjuration or area-effect transmutation, maybe?

- Conjuration: sloth; King actually works really well for this

- Enchantment: lust; actually, again, Growther is a perfect fit; could be "illusion" too, though

- Evocation: wrath; it's a bit of a question; I could see it either as abjuration (my interpretation) or evocation

- Illusion: pride; ??? not enough data

- Necromancy: gluttony; not enough data (though she just showed up and also WHAT and WAT and WUT)

- Transmutation: greed; actually Ban works pretty well for this

Definitely does not line up neatly, and some things are just off entirely (like Diane/Abjuration... though she is protective!), but it's neat to see the parallels and differences!

Back.

The Mystery is maybe solved. Talked to a neighbor, who had misgiving too. She had already called the cops, but the "characters" had buggered off really quick after I went past the first time.
She seem to believe they were bad renters bailing on a lease in the middle night, but had called the cops just to be sure.
They are checking things over now.
