Now where's the fun in that?

Apparently, nekkid fun...

The most fun you can have without laughing!

Howdy FAWTLy Folk. At home waiting for the wife to call. She had to stay late at work today, so I took her car, picked up the boy, and brought him home. When she's done, I have to load the (currently sleeping) boy in the car and go get her.

Edit: Luckily, we're off tomorrow for Veteran's Day.

I tried to be good, but I got bored.

Spoiler:
My wife made me buy a t-shirt with that saying on it.

Gah. I've been so busy.

The apartment is a mess because we just moved in, and stuff is till in boxes. (Did I tell you all that the mattress arrived filled with splinters?) Between all of that (unpacking, changing addresses, fighting with the new landlord over the stuff they won't fix, etc), and the new job, I'm going crazy.

And my partner is going increasingly despondent over his lack of work. It's to the point where I'm concerned about him. Something really needs to give on that count.

I need a drink.

Liberty's Edge

How on earth did your mattresses end up full of splinters?

Not having regular work can be hard ... I might be misremembering, but wasn’t it his idea originally to move over there? Did he have something lined up and it fell through?

All of our stuff was loaded in a wooden moving box. Some of the splinters were 2 inches long.

Also, you are correct - the initial impetus was his. He's been trying to make some money off of freelance photography, but the market is saturated. He would love to keep working on it, but knows he needs some more income.

On a more positive note, this morning on my walk to work I stopped at a coffee shop I had seen was about to open. They said I was their first ever customer on their first day of business and gave me my order for free. Kind of cool.

That's a pity, from what I have seen of his work (website you linked) he is very talented.

Ugh. Just got home a few minutes ago from my trip back down to work to pick the wife up. I left to go there a little after 9, but the wife misjudged how much longer her work would take. So, Charlie and I ended up waiting at her desk for over an hour and a half.

I say again....ugh.

Uh oh, the mail doesn't deliver today due to Veteran's day. Better reroute via UPS and give Doodlebug something to do.

Mothman wrote:
Bummer to hear that things aren’t going well between you and your supervisor Freehold. Is there any way you can talk to her about the issues between you and come to some sort of resolution? Or is there a third party you can go to?

Spoiler:
This is the third time something like this has happened. Basically when I came in to work yesterday, my boss(not supervisor), appeared before me when I was signing in(random encounter!!!), and told me I was going to pick up the checks today because tomorrow is a national holiday and the place with the checks would be closed. I asked him if I could do it later in the day, and he said no- it had to be now. So I let my supervisor know, show her the off premises activity sheet, etc- she knows I'm going. I go out, get the checks, gas up the war-wagon after a search for a gas station that will accept the business credit card, and head back. I'm thinking everything's jake and my day can begin, but I find out my boss is holding a staff meeting in an hour or so, and I have go to lunch or I won't get my lunch hour at all. I look for my supervisor, but she's nowhere to be found until about 15 minutes later. I can't just leave the building for kicks, I have to let her know I'm at lunch, and so I tell her. I go to lunch(really go to the bank since they'll be closed tomorrow), and I come back in time for the meeting(pausing to meet with someone on my caseload). I go to the meeting, and then afterward finally try to get the day started, but I get a phone call asking me why I haven't started my group. Now I would have started my group at 2:15, but I was in the meeting that we just had. So, I scramble to get things together, and I'm ready to jump in in about a few minutes later, but by then I can't run my group- my boss is going to start *his* group. I'm a little frustrated by this, but it's life, I guess at this point. I tell my supervisor what's going on and she gives me a lecture where I need to manage my time better. I get pissed at this because I didn't manage anything today thus far- I drove and went to a meeting all at someone else(who outranks us both) behest, and then fought to get a lunch hour(really 40 minutes). I mention this, and she says that it's my responsibility to get my group started, that "this is our job" and other stuff. I state that this isn't fair and that I refuse to take responsibility for messing up when a third party is involved. She gets snippy and I decide to walk away- I could feel my gorge rising. She is upset that I just walked away, and calls out that I"m being rude. I sit in my office for a few minutes, doing distractionary tasks and calming down. A few minutes later I see her again, and I apologize for walking away, saying that i did that only because I didn't want to lose my temper and say something I would regret. She seemed to accept that, but was wooden the rest of the day towards me. What really bothered me though, is when I realized that the group my boss was running was really HER group- she ended up leaving early yesterday to pick up stuff from the store for my job, and had my boss cover her- why didn't I get the same consideration? I'm going to bring this up in my staff meeting with her today.

Morning, all. What did I miss?

Yesterday, there was a monthly Art Walk in our neighborhood of downtown L.A. Very convenient, since the main hub was the courtyard of our apartment building. I've never seen that many people downtown. Where are these people the other 29 days of the month? (Hint: The answer has something to do with suburbs.) A lot of the art was crap, but there were a few galleries with good stuff.
