So I've been feeling guilty about resigning from my school and giving "only" two months notice, and still teaching half of summer term.

Gee, co-dependent much?

I found out yesterday that last Friday, which was the last day of the clean-up week post-graduation, the head of the high school program at our other campus walked into the office at the end of the day (*after* the boss had left on vacation), said, "Gosh, it's been nice, I've cleaned out my desk, bye-bye," and walked out.

I no longer feel guilty. Even a smidgen.

Hey all, what have I missed over the weekend?

Just got back from the family reunion in upstate NY, and man do I miss it. Saturday was rainy and chilled, Sunday was warm and humid, but yesterday was cool, sunny, and gorgeous. Mrs Sunrise has promised to move to NY with me after the Homunculi are out of high school, and I am counting down the years.

Highlights of the weekend:

The Homunculi encountered bumblebees for the first time, and were incredulous that such big bees are harmless. They were also fascinated by slugs.

Homunculi #2 got a tick on Saturday, and then I got a tick yesterday. I don't know whether those buggers are having a population explosion this summer or what, because I've never seen two ticks in one weekend ever.

Obviously you never should have felt guilty in the first place, but you know that. It's just a sign of, oh, I don't know, giving a damn? My dad taught me very, very few good life lessons (he's a brilliant example of what not to do with life, but in his defense there are also some extenuating circumstances), but one of them is pretty simple: If you're going to put your name on it, you make sure it's right.

You more than obviously care about doing things right.

It was kind of a quiet weekend. Gran said some stuff. Vidmaster said some stuff about the stuff Gran said. Game Hamster said we had to be productive. Cap took offense. Then Hamster amended it to necessary, which doesn't seem better. Nobody likes Game Hamster anymore, by the way.

Er, unless you do something to irritate one. I've been stung by a bumblebee and hoo boy! Biggest welt I've ever had in my life!

(It had landed on my bare hip for reasons unknown, and when I reached down to touch whatever it was, I felt something fuzzy and it took offense and stung my hip.)

Well, our image just got delayed by an additional TWO weeks. I've been having fun taking lynda.com JavaScript training, and I'll be taking all of next week off guilt-free, but it means I've got to work for 3 1/2 days with very little to do.

Fortunately, my manager is finding me little "projects" to play with. I am very bad at being idle at work.

Got my English curriculum reworked around swapped anchor texts with ideas for some varied writing projects jotted down, switched out the bulletin board border for something less ratty (huzzah craft store clearance), run off some testing data from last spring, and tweaked vocabulary lists for the first semester. I'll call that a fairly productive morning.
