Great Zootopia Trivia items.

In Doug the Ram's night howler chemical lab he is talking on the phone when he hears a knock at the door and says, "Walter and Jesse are here so I'm leaving now..."

Walter and Jesse are the names of the two main characters in the Breaking Bad! Doug also wears a yellow boiler suit, as do Walter and Jesse the tv series.

At the end of the film when Bogo is assigning tasks to the police force, one of the cops assigned to undercover duty is a wolf who disguises himself as a sheep. He is a literal "wolf in sheep's clothing".

At the beginning of the film, Judy stands up for a sheep against a fox. In the climax of the film, she does the opposite, standing up for a fox against a sheep.

As Judy Hopps gives her statement to the press on 'cracking the case,' the station microphones on the podium are arranged in the order of channels 9, 2, 11, and 5. Coincidentally, 92115 is the ZIP code for the city of San Diego, home of one of the largest zoos in the world and my home town.

Ah! We actually couldn't figure out Girraffic. Thanks!

In case anyone has a beagle, 7 years is when they actually start to listen to you.

So what does our dog get with this newfound maturity? He gets to wear a costume and go trick or treating with a gaggle of twelve year old girls.

Which is all he wants in life.

Well, that was one bloody exhausting weekend. At least it's capped with one long boat ride. We left the pier at 5:15, and aren't due in San Francisco until 7:05.

College field trips are best field trips. In two days in the mountains, I've:

Pushed a pickup truck up a hill because somebody wasn't paying attention to the fuel gauge

Gone on a non-professor approved moonlit hike on a backwoods trail drunk, stoned, and without a flashlight

Ridden in the back of a pickup truck on a bumpy ass dirt road hollering, fist bumping, and blaring country while the professor followed us in the van shaking his head

Gotten lost multiple times

Followed the professor's van in the pickup truck on the highway, astounded we were going above 80 and he was still leaving us behind

Eaten hella barbecue

Seen a giant ass owl

Climbed theough a dark, damp, bat infested lava tube

Touched F~~+ING SNOW

Gotten into a drunken argument with the German born professor about the relative merits of European and Californian beer.

Cut my hand scrabbling over rough rocks and waved the blood covered appendage about like a trophy (no worries, I don't need stitches and have full use of the hand)

Told and listened to mad drunken tall tales.

Done most of that (not being drunk or stoned, no professor, no lava tube) simply by dint of growing up in very rural small towns.

Well, the drunk and stoned part really does make all the difference.

I have never been stoned nor would I want to be. It sounds terrifying from what I hear. Drunk was plenty bad enough for me.

It really depends on what you're getting stoned on, with pot it's actually not as mind altering as alcohol, just makes everything funnier and slower.

I quit smoking marijuana 'cause it made me laugh. "Like a schoolgirl", as the saying goes. Took five tries for me to figure it out.

As for the being drunk part: only ONCE have i been so drunk as to be violently sick (not even the 6 beers + 4 dark&stormy + 1/2 liter everclear night did that). This was a 12 beer + 6 irish car bombs (4 of those in 10 minutes) night that did the trick.

'Cause:
Applebee's fiesta lime chicken comes back up in just as many colors as it goes down; it's got the red, blue, and yellow tortilla strips
I have been drunk since, but i am *much* more cautious these days.

I was a legend for my ability to vomit and carry on a conversation.

I also never got a hangover until my late twenties.

But my time between drinking is vast indeed, measured in months or years.

As far as pot goes, there's a time and place for everything, and it's called college. So sayeth Chef.

I tried pot twice, both times as a 21+ adult. It made everyone else more relaxed and more easily amused. I just felt more focused(?), and got (more) uptight and irritated by the other smokers. I had to go off and sit on the balcony by myself with a couple beers and just chill.

TMI?:
At the time, my anxiety disorder was still undiagnosed (I thought everyone felt like I did, but they were just much better managing it/ignoring it.) It's possible the more focused feeling was a side effect of it helping me ignore my anxiety somewhat; I get a similar focused feeling when I'm in the sweet spot metabolizing my anti-anxiety med dose.
Never tried pot again.

I find pot a godsend these days. My life is just so stressful that I'm high strung and snappy all the time. I need to calm the hell down, and it's either weed or actual pharmaceuticals with way more side effects.

Funny enough, a year ago I couldn't stand the stuff.

I quite liked pot when I was younger, but I haven't touched it for years and years. It really didn't agree with me, in hindsight.

THC is a substance to which different people react very differently. Some become giggly and enjoy it, some get just slowed down and find it frustrating. Some feel sharper and more focused. These often swear they would drive better on it. When tried, however, while they subjectively feel they did okay, the films taken are often hilarious/terrifying.

And of course, there IS a pretty clear correlation between smoking pot and getting schizophrenia. It is one of the major risk factors we have found so far.

I got a contact high once. Everyone was super friendly and relaxed. But I didn't like the experience overall.

After watching the first episode again (because it's on Netflix), I'm half convinced Kill la Kill was made on some kind of drunken dare that was, in fact, successful.

It's just so bizarre, and so far out there.

So absurd, yet it works somehow.

Pretty major spoilers framed in casual conversations.:
How it might have gone wrote:

A: "Hah! Yeah! A sailor girl! Only without a secret identity! And she's got this... this... this..."

B: "Uniform!"

A: "Yeah! Uniform! Yeah! An' they have a... a..."

In other exciting news of Nobody:

  • NobodysWife has completed her orders for the Lulu costume, and is picking up the final bits this evening. I'll post pics once she gets it all together, but that'll be once the dress arrives from the Ukraine in a few weeks. I'll be sure to deny Freehold access to the pics, because... sadism...
  • Our first Blue Apron order is arriving tomorrow. I am unduly excited about teaching the kids how to cook. Even "sloppy Joes with purple cabbage", which seems pretty cheesy for $8.19 per plate.
  • I've mapped out my work on this project for the next month, and it looks like because of my partner's lack of productivity we won't quite make our November 4 deadline. Now I have to decide exactly how soon to tell my manager, and how many resources I need to ask for. I think the answer to the former is, "Tomorrow, once I'm sure," and the answer to the latter is, "One, for a few days."
It should work out, but it's always irritating to look at your project plan for the next 6 weeks and realize, "Wow. We're all of 4 person-days short. Do we work overtime and make that up, or ask for another person for a week?"
It's honestly easier to be 3-4 weeks short, because then asking for extra resources is a no-brainer.
  • With a bunch of financial shenanigans, it looks like an October trip to Disneyland is in the works. Considering NobodysWife blows several months of her budget in October, and Impus Major starts singing, "It's the most wonderful time of the year," come October 1, I think this is a Good Thing.

  • Anyway, happy Monday, all!

If you encounter some detractors of how that money could be used here rather than to further the space program, you can kindly and eloquently offer this rebuttal.

I harvested the last tomatoes from The Little Tomato Plant of Horrors.

All told, it reached six feet high and produced enough tomatoes to supply a large Italian family for a weekend.

But sadly, it never got to eat anyone, as far as I know.
