Well, first off, Kara-Tur was designed as the Eastern Realms from the beginning. Al-Qadim (the stale lands, true story) was designed as its own place, then tacked on. There is a difference.
Second, why do you try to kill something that is already dead? And if you do, why do you use the same method that actually killed it (the spellplague, shudder)?
because the realms aren't dead enough yet.

I already have it. But if you have not played it, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE. This game is HILARIOUS.
Pyrokinetic bears. Telepathic communication via bacon. Steve Blum as a thousand shady government agents. A Godzilla-style city-wrecking level that suddenly turns into a gargantuan-sized luchador/sentai fight. Psychokinetic tanks. Madrid during the Running of the Bulls painted on black velvet in glow-in-the-dark neon highlighters. Evil dentists-turned-brain surgeons. A turtle with the voice of James Earl Jones (or a reasonable facsimile thereof). WHO IS THE MILKMAN?!
A solid game in my Top 5 of all time. SOMEONE GET IT. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.

No it wasn't. It was separate setting introduced in the original Oriental Adventures (1985). It was added to Forgotten Realms when they were published in 1987, and Kara-Tur boxed set was released in 1988.

You know he might decide to take the hammer to get more candy that way?

Part 1 of the Halloween monsters.
This one is evil in many senses of the word.
As I read about that creepy bastard, I am under a full moon peeking through some clouds. *shudders*
Oriental adventures is one of the few 1st edition books I did not get. Does it actually contain data for the various places in Kara-Tur, then? Because as I understood it, Shou Lung, Wa and the other places were designed for the Eastern Realms set.
As far as I recall yes, they were introduced in Oriental Adventures with some additional development in OA module series. They were further developed to a much greater detail in Kara-Tur Boxed set for Forgotten Realms, though, the initial descriptions of the whole Kara-Tur in OA was fitted on a few pages.
The "designed for the Easter Realms set" impression is probably caused by the fact that (according to the wiki) the designers decided to use Kara-Tur as eastern part of the realms at the very beginning of the Forgotten Realms line, and for that purpose they left the eastern part of continent out of the setting book. In a sense it's not that Kara-Tur was designed for FR, it was FR designed with space for Kara-Tur in mind.

Ohhhh!!! I know what I want for Christmas. Sadly, it might be NEXT Christmas.LOL. I have the opposite fear. As I've mentioned, I use things until they fall apart. I'm perfectly happy playing Rift on my work laptop; an ancient Lenovo Thinkpad that wheezes heavily whenever more than 3 other players are on the screen. But I'm happy, and it takes up very little space in my far-too-tiny-for-a-family-of-4 house.
I have friends in the computer industry who have declared that I "need" a new computer. They have the means to make one appear. And it will be some hideous monstrosity that fits nowhere in my house and eats up 1500 watts just checking e-mail.
If it appears and I can sneak it out the door, I'll check international shipping rates... ;-P

Be careful what you wish for: My friend's parents tell the story of how proud they were of how "handy" he was with his toy tools... until, at the ripe old age of 4, he found the REAL tools and proceeded to completely disassemble the oven. It had screws, after all!

Oh, as you get older and more well-established, people run out of ideas for things to give you, so they start getting together and pooling all their "gifts" into one big pot. The $10 you used to give your friend when you were 16 becomes $40-$50, the whole gaming group gets together on one gift of $400-$500, and then each individual person gets employee discounts at their company, making that enough money to get a new computer built.
Laptops are right out, though. Those cost over $1000 even to home build 'em. If it appears, it'll be a cobbled-together but really nice desktop. No monitor, no mouse nor keyboard, just a case, CPU, power supply, video card, hard drive, motherboard, and RAM. But that's all I really need.

Yea, at the rate I'm going a new computer is looking like ummmm never which really sucks since my wife needs one she is just starting to sell her art pieces and everything is already getting $100 for one tomorrow. Hospital bills and other bills have piled up and are threatening to drown me in their debt enclosed hell.

Oh, it's one of NobodysWife's HUGE "pet" peeves. "Pet" needs to be in quotes, because it drives her to physical violence.
I grew up in the early 70's, where every frigging writer and director suddenly realized, "Hey, sometimes the hero can LOSE!", so all my childhood movies and TV series were about heroic people who strove against the Forces of Evil, and either lost or died while winning.
NobodysWife had it even worse: Throughout the late 70's and entire 80's, almost every single action movie made was, "The protagonist has a wife/girlfriend/love interest solely so she can die to motivate him to succeed."
The whole, "Girl needs saving" genre is a teensy notch above, "Girl dies to motivate man" in her pantheon of hate.
