Oh, it's one of NobodysWife's HUGE "pet" peeves. "Pet" needs to be in quotes, because it drives her to physical violence.

I grew up in the early 70's, where every frigging writer and director suddenly realized, "Hey, sometimes the hero can LOSE!", so all my childhood movies and TV series were about heroic people who strove against the Forces of Evil, and either lost or died while winning.

NobodysWife had it even worse: Throughout the late 70's and entire 80's, almost every single action movie made was, "The protagonist has a wife/girlfriend/love interest solely so she can die to motivate him to succeed."

The whole, "Girl needs saving" genre is a teensy notch above, "Girl dies to motivate man" in her pantheon of hate.

I'm sorry to hear that, as much as I loved cheesy 80s fare, I didn't take it too seriously past single digit ages(which saw me into the 90s, actually), growing up reading sword and sorceress books helped to prune back some of the helpless damsel bs, and chicks in chainmail series helped me to laugh at it a bit. We seem to have gone a bit overboard as characters are either robed in plot armor or die from a simple head cold nowadays, but we have come a long way, I think.

That said, I am overjoyed to hear that she has a pantheon of hate, perhaps she and I are not too different... [/legend]

Try again =) link goes nowhere. Make sure you add http:// to the beginning of your URL; otherwise it tries to redirect to a Paizo.com sourced page.

Blargh. So I still get cramps when I eat, and feel generally crappy. I heard that my niece (who has the same bug) has relapsed, so this may not run its course as quickly as my mother and I were hoping (mom caught it too).

And to add injury to injury, I stubbed my toe on my suitcase this morning and broke it. (My toe, not the suitcase.)

This week just keeps getting better.

I have the curse of clutsiness especially when it comes to stubbing my toes, the little one in particular

You should just roll up in a giant feather comforter and stay in bed. It's kind of like angelic bubble-wrap.

This is my third, and one was from dropping something on it, rather than stubbing it. It looks like a minor fracture, but it's starting to turn a pretty color.

I might go to my first Con ever next week, I'm not sure tho.

Also the Midwest can't even come up with good convention names, GameholeCon is the best they could do? Really?

We don't even have any stores named Gamehole, it's I'm-A-Board Games, Pegasus Games and Netherworld Games.

I'm personally a fan of the first one.

Psychonauts is on this list.

I already have it. But if you have not played it, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE. This game is HILARIOUS.

Pyrokinetic bears. Telepathic communication via bacon. Steve Blum as a thousand shady government agents. A Godzilla-style city-wrecking level that suddenly turns into a gargantuan-sized luchador/sentai fight. Psychokinetic tanks. Madrid during the Running of the Bulls painted on black velvet in glow-in-the-dark neon highlighters. Evil dentists-turned-brain surgeons. A turtle with the voice of James Earl Jones (or a reasonable facsimile thereof). WHO IS THE MILKMAN?!

A solid game in my Top 5 of all time. SOMEONE GET IT. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.

Also, the voice of ZIM! A really fantastic platformer, for so many reasons. I only wish a had a copy for everyone. :)

A few more games will be added later, including Contagion, a multiplayer, FPS, zombie survival, like L4D but tougher.

New additions complete!

NEW:
Insurgency, Men of War: Assault Squad GOTY, Abyss Odyssey, Blackguards, Contagion * 3, Divinity: Dragon Commander

Katsu is a very forgiving dish. The kids LOVE my chicken katsu. I don't love what the spattering oil does to my freshly-cleaned stove top. Because our wonderful cleaning woman comes once every two weeks to mop and scrub everything, and of course the kids want it THAT NIGHT, along with sauteed Brussels sprouts.

I'm surprised they don't ask me to hand-toss some pizza dough just to top it all off...

Well, I don't know anything about cooking stuff. It was good food, though. Especially with a cold Asahi.

In other news, I'm watching the Amy's Baking Company episode of Kitchen Nightmares on Youtube. Ho-ly s%&&. Amy is so ludicrously unreasonable and delusional, her husband is so controlling it makes my stepdad look reasonable, and both her and her husband seriously need anger management. And my God that persecution complex.

Except when they are being infuriating. Like that server who asked a question and got fired on the spot. Or Samy stealing tips illegally and brazenly admitting as much on camera, yet not getting investigated by the Board of Labor despite the complaints flowing in like water. Or a server accepting a tip instead of giving it to Samy, and not only getting fired, but having Amy smugly saying she's gonna call the cops on her for "theft" even though that tip was legally the server's. And the Board of Labor knows damn well that happened and has video evidence, and still does f*#~ all.

The best part about working at a toy store in the Midwest right before hunting season is when someone asks me "excuse me, sir. Do you price match Wal-Mart for .22's?"

"We never price match Wal-Mart sir!"

My go to answer used to be "Sir, we sell Nerf guns!"

But this one allows the follow up of "So you do carry .22's?"

"Hahahahaha... No!"

Outside of directing you to the Steam page, I've got nothing on Blackguards. Have not yet played it at all. Sells itself as a turn-based, strategy RPG, with a metacritic rating reviewer/user score of 68/72 and Mixed steam reviews.

Wikipedia is (occasionally) your friend.

"Katsu" is basically dredging a medium-thin slice of meat (1/4" or so) in flour, egg, and panko crumbs, then frying it and serving it with a fantastic spicy-sweet sauce.

It's not the meat so much as the fried panko in the sauce.

So choose any meat that doesn't have a ton of flavor (pork, chicken, white-fleshed fish), fry it up, and enjoy!

hm.

gets plane ticket
travels to Rositas place
knocks on a&~#~*# roommate's door

Excuse me, does this cloth smell like chloroform to you?

presses it over a#%&!+# roommate's nose and mouth expertly, holds until struggling ceases

tosses a##~~&~ roommate into another dorm room, sprinkles unconscious body liberally with illegal substances, calls police anonymously

returns to Rositas, waits patiently for good food
