Thanks, college sophomore girl. Really, thanks.
Sounds like someone who needs a little more experience with social interaction...
What means "ironically working-class"?

Well that's depressing.

I can't even find one out of three, much less two.

She assumed he was wealthier than he actually is, and that he was just dressing down. (That's my guess anyway.)

You know despite your greasy hair, you are a very attractive girl

About how long should I spend smacking Gsu around in the Veldt?
Don't smack him.
Despite the in-game text hinting otherwise, smacking him into running away does not increase the number of Rages he learns. He ONLY gains the Rages from
1. The group of monsters he Leaps into
and
2. The group of monsters you defeat immediately before he returns.
Everything in between is not learned. So you'll want to get him back in the party ASAP so you can have him Leap at a different group, especially if you run into one of the rare and really desirable encounters like Marshall or Telstar or the Serpent Trench beasties.

Today's new word for me is morpheme the smallest grammatical unit in a language
The more you know...
That was a new word for me too, so thanks. It's almost a homonym for morphine... which made me think of a chorus of keketar proteans lazing about, deeply intoxicated out of their minds on speedballs of power words and Black Speech.

Oh man. Maybe I'm showing my age here. I know he would learn the rages in the battles he showed up in in the SNES version. Maybe this changed with time? I do know a lot of updates were made in the PS version. What version are you referring to?

That guide is for the SNES version.
Here's the relevant bit, in section 6.0:
When Gau Leaps, he will obtain ALL Rages he didn't know yet from that particular monster formation. If you killed one already, Gau will learn that Rage. If the monster is still hidden (for instance, the Chaser hasn't died and called the Pipsqueak brigade yet), Gau will learn the Rages.
While you're fighting and Gau stays away, Gau WILL NOT learn the Rages of the monster formations you defeat in the meantime. Some people may claim otherwise and even suggest hurting Gau whenever he returns to learn as much as possible in one go. This is false info.
When Gau returns he learns all the Rages of the monsters you defeated in that battle (excluding Pugs and ProtoArmor obviously). The same applies as when he Leaps. Obviously, you killed all the formation's active monsters to even have Gau return, but Gau will also learn the Rages of dormant monsters that never showed (e.g. when Telstar died too quickly to summon the Soldiers). If you scare him, however, by trying to torch/impale/petrify/electrocute/whatever him, he will not learn the Rages of the monster formation he popped up in. Also, the very first time you recruit him (when you have to use the Dried Meat
item), Gau will not have learned the Rages of the monster formation he appeared in.That's all there is to it. There is neither an improved chance of him showing up when you don't know the Rages of the monster formation yet, and there's no decreased chance of him showing up in a monster formation he knows everything about either. Gau isn't smart enough to notice the difference between the monsters, it seems. Those 'eyes shining of intelligence' never were more than hateful leers directed at party members anyway :P

That makes NO sense. I'm telling you, he learned all the rages from the battles he appeared in. This is going into slasher territory for me, I'm going to have to whip out my old copy and see for myself.

Dunno what to tell you man. Just copy-pasted what the guide says. I haven't bothered testing it myself, mostly because I didn't see the need, but also in part because of laziness and in part because I don't want to miss something I really want if I'm going to grind on the Veldt for an hour or two. But the guide's pretty darned thorough and precise, so I'd be pretty surprised if the guy got this thing wrong, compared to how much everything else got apparently tested pretty extensively.

Heh. I meant myself, it was about 8:30 when I posted that. Though I'd been awake in some capacity since 7ish and attempts to return to sleep were ineffective.

Decided I'd drop by the football game. First of the year, it's good to go and support the school, etc.
It's also raining, windy, and about 50 degrees. FUN TIMES.
I remember being a ball boy for some of those games. Of course, we don't have school teams in Sweden, so it was completely voluntary...

My dad picked up reffing high school sports when I was in around fourth or fifth grade. He's tried for years to explain it to me.
It makes. No. Sense.
Getting the ball to location A should merit points. But if you do this, it's 1, this is 2, this is 6, and then you can get an extra point if you get the ball here using only your non-dominant hand and balancing a teacup on your nose...but only if there's a full moon.
