While I debate the merits of the various AP's I am going to run the Godsmouth Heresy module. Be forewarned, this will be my first attempt at running a pbp game on this board, and I am still learning how to handle maps and such smoothly.
What I am looking for:
If you already have characters worked up with profiles and such, great, but they are not necessary at this time if you don't already have them that developed.
Attributes: Rolling the dice: 4d6, drop the lowest, 6 times
Background: one good solid paragraph that covers the past and present efficiently is all that I'm looking for at this time. Refinement and filling out the details can come later.
Sources: Core and APG, I'm trying to keep this relatively simple.
Starting Gold: average
Traits: 2, only limitation is that they must go along with the background
Posting Rate: At least once every two days, preferably once per day or more
I think that pretty much covers the basics; I will take character submissions for a few days, than another couple days to refine characters, than by Friday or Saturday, start the introductary posts and the adventure. Again, be forewarned, patience may be required at spots as I get used to the various logistical, pacing and mapping issues of being a DM.
Edit: I would very much appreciate players that are willing to interact with each other when the situation allows for it; it gets very lonely and boring if the only reading in the thread is DM text, and player response.

4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 5) = 13

4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 5, 3) = 15
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 3) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 6, 3) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 5, 4) = 17
So that works out to 18 Str, 15 Wis, 13 Dex, 12 Con, 11 Int, and 9 Chr, before racial adjustments. My +2 from either human or 1/2 orc will probably go to Strength, but I might also use it for Wisdom. I'll make the final call when I post the profile.
I would like to put together an APG monk archetype of the 4 winds.
He would be a Lawful Good follower of Sarenrae, using his Elemental fist to deal fiery justice for the Dawnflower. I am thinking either human or half orc for the race. He has been a follower since a very early age. Not long after, he decided he wanted to do more to serve the calling and presented himself to study at the closest temple. He lacked the abillity to take up the mantle as a cleric. He never got the hang of heavy armor, and therefore, becoming a paladin was out. He was amazingly strong and dealt more damage with is bare hands, so he was trained as a monk, and took to the training quickly. During his monk studies, he was taught one of the greatest secrets of the temple...the elemental (fiery) fist.
After learning this technique, he was sent out to uphold the good name of Sarenrae. He is eager to start his journey.
If you are interested, I will make a profile with the monk it in. Thanks for any consideration...
Edit: I'll make a full profile for this character Monday evening, EST.

Initial concept: Urban Ranger (Favored Enemy: Undead) NG
EDIT: Looks about average for when I roll for stats. (The very reason I dislike rolling for stats and why I loved the day they introduced point-buy in 3rd Edition.)
So that would be an 8,9,10,13,10,10. Just kill me now.

I would like to submit a halfling paladin of Shelyn, Abernathus Burbuckle:
Abe was born in Cheliax, into a family of servants to a Chelish merchant. He had a gift for art at a young age, and was often found carving wooden figurines when he was supposed to be working. Since such behavior was frowned upon for a halfling servant in Cheliax, he was a fairly unhappy fellow in those days. When Abe became an adult, as soon as he was able to, he escaped his master and hopped on a ship for Absalom, where he knew his artistic talent would be much more appreciated. There he enrolled in an art school run by the temple of Shelyn. After training in arms he embarked on his mission to bring art and beauty to the darkest corners of the world. This has landed him in Kaer Maga, where he wishes to eventually find work as an art teacher.

If the rolls end up being too low, I will look at them on a case by case basis. In Shieldknight's case, I will let you roll again, having only one positive modifier and two negative modifiers is not going to give you much of a chance as an adventurer; I don't subscribe to the school that insists that stats have to be high, but that is a bit too low for even me to come up with anything playable as a PC.

Morthos von Janderhoff |

I present Morthos von Janderhoff, a LN Mage-Smith of Janderhoff [Wizard (Transmuter) 1] for consideration.
Although barely out of his apprenticeship, he has been sent far abroad, to study the glass-working and smithing techniques of the humans, to see if there is anything that could be adapted to use back home, and whether it would be profitable to set-up formal trading agreements.
You know what it takes to get your goods to market and will stop at nothing to protect your products. Years of fending off thieves, cutthroats, and brigands have given you a sixth sense when it comes to danger. You gain a +1 trait bonus to Perception checks made to determine surprise, and Perception is always a class skill for you.
Heirloom Weapon:
You carry a weapon that has been passed down from generation to generation in your family. This heirloom weapon is of masterwork quality (but you pay only the standard cost at character creation). You gain a +1 trait bonus on attack rolls with this specific weapon and are considered proficient with that specific weapon (but not other weapons of that type) even if you do not have the required proficiencies.

4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 6, 4) = 20 = 16

The rest of his details can be accessed via his profile page.

Okay, second try at this, hopefully its better than the first one.

I've never played a ranger before so I would still like to go for the Urban Ranger. Human. NG. I'll have a full write up tomorrow.
EDIT: Much better!
That gives a 14,10,17,10,11,13
Thanks for letting me reroll the previous set. They really did suck eggs.

4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 3, 2) = 10
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 4, 6) = 19
That gives me 8, 6, 11, 16, 9, 16 as my base. Hmmmm.
I hope I'm recognized, lol. Anyway, NG Cleric of Torag, with I think the Sarced Touch and Guardian of the Forge (engineering) traits.
During his younger days, Solomon spent much time in the mines, and learning how to be a soldier, but no matter how much he was drilled, his heart was never in it. After requesting time and time again, he was finally granted permission to join the priests at the temple, where he would take up the defense of his home in a different way. After several years of hard study and dedication, he was finally promoted to be a Cleric in the church of Torag.
Not long after he was granted his Clerical position, during his prayers, he felt Torag calling him to Absolom. The next morning, he packed his belongings, and set out on the road, leaving nothing more than a note to his brothers.
If you need a faction for Godsmouth Heresy for society, then I'll rewrite this last paragraph.

I would like to propose Simon Angus, an Oracle of Bones.
Simon Angus had been a popular breadmaker in his small town, even serving as mayor for a couple terms. All that began to change when his eyes became clouded. Some townspeople found the appearance unsettling, though everyone considered it an unfortunate age-related handicap. Simon's insistence, however, that it was a curse accompanied by divine gifts also eventually led to his estrangement with the only family he had left. When challenged by his daughter to heal someone with his "divine gifts", he tried to explain why he couldn't. She found his divine connection horrifying, and forbade him from coming near her family again. Now feeling unwelcome in his own hometown, he's travelled to Kaer Maga, and his funds are running low.

I was thinking about a Gnome Bard, but with only one possible bonus above +1 (Ok, 2 if I put my 14 in Int, and a 12-13 in Cha), and wanting both of them to be decent, I might have to reconsider a bit..

Lanier is a problem solver. He does odd jobs for odd people. Nothing illegal as he does jobs for the constabulary as well. Goes places they can't move easily, sees things that hide when they come by. Information is his trade.

Offering an alternate, due to divine caster glut:
Darren Roy is the 3rd of 8 children. Things have always come easy for him, so he was the poor farming family's great hope. Money was scrounged up to send him to school in Kaer Maga. Though he did well in his year in school, he fell in with a troublemaking group of classmates. When they got in trouble, his wealthier classmates' families bought them out of trouble, but Darren was expelled. Now having squandered the family's best chance of getting out of poverty, Darren has begun looking for work as an adventurer for some quick riches.
Darren's story could fit either a fighter or a rogue, whichever would be more useful for the party.

Thanks for the 15. I was ok with his stats as is, nothing sucked too badly, but now he is well-read AND charming (Well, for a Gnome...).
I am using HeroBuilder to throw him together, and I picked a couple of items that I then realized were not in the Core or APG.
Reinforced Scarf (Counts as chain for climbing or binding someone, not that I'll be doing a whole lot of either as a Gnome Bard 1 with a 10 Str...but the visual of using it to slide down a line etc... was really cool) and Pocket Scarf (Has little pockets, +4 to Sleight of Hand for hiding things on yourself. Are these ok?
If not, it's no biggie. He is still a Gnome wrapped in several colorful scarves either way...
Oh,I also ditched my Feat, taking Additional Traits. I had always wondered what a character might look like with this, so I figured I'd give it a go. Honestly, I never really throw much into Feat selection, but I love Traits for character flavor.
I chose Rich Parents, Reactionary, Highlander and Vagabond (For Disable Device as a Class Skill).
I have 3 Starting languages left...Could you remind me what national/Cultural ones are available?
-Uriel

Sounds like an interesting character, if the background is good, I will definitely consider him and his scarfs.

The adventure takes place in the city of Kaer Maga, city of strangers, sitting about the middle of Varisia on some cliffs. If others know some general history about the place, they are free to share it, but overall, I get the impression its an old city with a lot of buried history.

sunshadow21 |

Very nice! Hope this works...powerful character.
Meaning he needs to have a background to match, and still needs to be capable of operating within a group. That's the catch with high stats, I expect great things from such characters, whether they want to be part of those great things or not, and I expect them to share their greatness with the rest of the party.
