Seems like all the people who are for Ki being based of Cha are for it for game mechanics reasons while all the people who are for Ki being based of Wis are for it for roleplaying reasons.

To be fair, no one argues roleplaying reasons unless they want mechanical reasons, because otherwise they could pump charisma and pretend they were wise and uncharasmatic, they just wouldnt get the bonus to wisdom skills and will saves, which are mechanical benefits and aren't neccisary to act wise.
