When do we see the archetypes?

Kind of a strange question I know, but will they be posted on the 25, right when voting starts, or will they be up and subject to discussion for a few days before hand?

Thanks giant brain!

Also, the judges get to look at them before they go public. :)

And some of the judges are looking at them right now!

I believe the archetypes would be the toughest to design. I have little experience at creating new classes or abilities and this would be very challenging.

Well, I'm a third of the way through my comments and there's some really cool stuff here. And, also some disappointments. But that's the way things usually shake out every year in Round Two. Lots to look forward to, though...

Dude, you are an evil man. Beneath all that helpful advice lurks the heart of an evil, evil man. Now I'm going to spend all my weekend wondering, "Did I disappoint Neil? Did I make Neil cry? Crap. What sort of flowers do I send Neil to make him stop crying? Or is this a jewelry sort of cry?"

I suspect cold hard cash may be your best bet..... ;) .....lol

That comment literally made me sick to my stomach. And filled with hope!

So many emotions ... :/

Creating an archetype was definitely a challenging experience but I did learn a lot none the less. As long as you did your best, you have something to be proud of. And as a consolation gift, as you pointed out on another thread we get free PDF copies of the new campaign setting source book!

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4 aka Scipion del Ferro

That was a very evil thing to do Neil. I will remain confident that my archtype is totally awesome though. It seemed to do the trick for my item!

...but he does make me wonder if I should have gone with my other totally awesome one...

I'm guessing you guys can see who submitted what already, right?

Of course we can. As soon as you submit them, we can see them and then provide our commentary/feedback/recommendations.

As for the evil part...

Spoiler:

EXPLOSIVE RUNES!

I thought we'd already established that... ;-P

We do? I didn't know that. Where can I find the consolation prize page?

And Neil, I don't know which is worse. Hanging on your every teasing word about our archetypes or falling for every exploding rune joke you've posted for the last two years. I'm like a Kinder rogue, I just have to look.

Flowers? Jewelry? Isn't that something you bribe women with..? :D

Anyway, I know I'll cry if someone submitted something remarkably worse than what I did. :D

Eric pointed it out. It's under the "Frequently Asked Questions" for the contest.

Hey now! Neil's classy. He's not a woman, he's a dame. Dames gotta be courted all careful-like.

He's about to become a shrew if this comparison drags out much further.

Is there anything about me that would lead you to believe I can be tamed?

Dear Mr. Spicer,

Well yes. And I know an otyugh with the pictures to prove it...

…Against my better judgement I am compelled to respond to some of the many questions you have posed in this forum. Unfortunately, the human male you know as Neil Spicer is otherwise 'indisposed' and currently finds himself entertained by a few of my better henchmen for daring to reveal so much about our operations…

…Yes, Brimback...dump him over there.
No, I don't pretend to understand what Mr. Spicer is babbling on about. What exactly is a stat-block and what does 'Round Three' have to do with his plans?
These are questions you should take care to ask him...maybe after you peel a bit of skin from him to get his attention? Just be sure to bring it to me. I skipped breakfast this morning…
…Right now, the only one crying will be Mr. Spicer. His attempt to escape was cut short when he slipped and fell. Brimback's got him trussed up tighter than a spring chicken at the moment. So don't be expecting anything more from him about me or my lair. We've got to exercise tighter information control down here. And I intend to see to that immediately…

I would blackmail you with them, but that would be stepping on Gulga's appendages and both impolite and unladylike of me. I'll leave the extortion to him instead. You should have received a message from him already about this...

Hoping that you find this post Very Very Helpful. ;)

Well, I'm two-thirds of the way through. Mark's making his way through some stuff. And Ryan and Sean have commented on just a couple so far. The designers have made some interesting archetype choices and decisions around various abilities. Some work really well. Others not so much.

So far, I've recommended 8 for advancement.
And I'm on the fence for 2 others.

Still have 12 to review.

Were there 36 entries submitted on time, or fewer? Did all four alternates submit entries?

Contributor

We received all 36 on time.
