I've been looking at the same few hundred words for so long now my brain is going to burst. It's been read, re-read, edited, balanced, processed, re-edited, revised, re-balanced etc ad nauseum ad infinitum. I was beginning to worry I would somehow ruin it so I bit the bullet and submitted.
Anyone else in the same boat? Taking a break or working on a later round?
Yeah similar process here. ^^; Now just the long long wait to the end of this round
I had to submit tonight. I work tomorrow so further revisions and reviews were out of the question. I'm going to take this evening and tomorrow to let my brain refresh; I'll start on Round 3 Saturday.
Best of luck guys! Round five will come hard and fast, and I for one plan on buffing it out in between my other stuff. Nothing worst that realizing you got three days to write a polished 3000 word paper. Funny, I never felt this way for school papers. Then again I was only going for the pass!
I have a feeling round three will be tough to work on until we get to see the other entries. Twist ahoy!
You three aren't the only ones with your submissions in with time to spare. There's a sizable chunk of contestants already done with this round. Just about 17 hours left before the deadline!
Also, bear in mind that this round we gave you the full rules early. Next round, not so much. There will be twists from here on in, so getting a head start will get harder.

I've submitted a half hour ago.
I'm onto you Mark! I'm sure you'll make us use each others archtypes for our villains.

I have a feeling about this too, I think everyone does. Can it still be a twist if everyone sees it coming? I'll bet our villains will need to conform to a specific theme, like sentient fizzy baby animals, or adolescents with daddy issues, or both.
My plan at current is to make think of a villian concept unattached to anything, and one for my own archetype. And then as soon as everyone's elses is out, I will choose a couple of those and make villians out of them too!
Mark Moreland wrote: ...There will be twists from here on in, so getting a head start will get harder. Understood. :) Brainstorming concepts and such can't hurt. At least the brain will be limber enough (hopefully) to work with whatever twist is thrown out for the Top 16.
We spend a lot of time playing evil characters or (in my case) running evil campaigns in my neck of the woods. I love villains, love writing them, love running them. Throw me a curve ball, I'm down.
I plan on submitting very soon. I've done another tweak and I think it really, really helped. Now, I just have to test the word count. I'll probably sit on it for an hour or two, watch some TV, then come back. That's what I did with my wondrous item submission and I found some glaring errors right before I sent it.

Throw me a curve ball, I'm down. I just got the Bestiary 2 today. Will I go with new playable races for evil villians or some of the ones near and dear to my heart in Bestiary 1? I don't know yet. I've been working with one race in particular lately, and I'm liking them a lot and I haven't seen much done with them yet.
The last evil campaign I played, I ran a tiefling ranger/mortal hunter (from the Book of Vile Darkness).
As a long time gm I love villains! The 2nd ed villains handbook helped me write my term paper for shakespeare! In fact I'm twirling my handlebar mustache as we speak! Muahahah...
I'm glad my archetype is in, none of the ideas I had before tuesday made the cut. Pulled it out of the aether wholecloth.
--Can you smell what the Vrock is cooking?
I am relieved to be done too.
I suppose I should start on my schoolwork... Has anyone here ever seen the musical No, No Nanette? Because that's what I get the joy of reading about and assistant directing over the coming weeks! Haha!
Goodnight everyone!
I'm done, just letting it stew a bit longer before I submit. Good luck to you all! Don't be late, otherwise I might have to actually keep participating. :) In other words, be as late as you like! ;)
Alrighty, it's in. Fingers crossed, we'll see how this goes...
Done. Not yet submitted; I think I'm going to sleep on it and see how it looks in the morning. But looks like I managed to somehow come in a few words under count; I was convinced I'd be lucky if I could just toe the line.
I'm done as well. I went with a really crazy idea, but we alts aren't on an equal footing with the Top 32, so I think I'm going to need it in the off chance that one or two of the Top 32 face an unexpected DQ or... alien abduction. :D Of course, more than anything, I hope you'll show that you really deserved your place in the Top 32. So once more, good luck everyone!
Doing the final tweaks. I'm adhering to my advice about editing in another thread. There was something that bothered me about one of mechanics and looking at it, yeah, it wasn't clear and didn't make sense. I'm close to the word count and I'm trying to squeeze in just one little thing. We'll see how it goes! And again, good luck to everyone one!
I thought I was done but I keep catching things that need to be fixed and I still need to shave off some words. *deep sigh*
Cody Coffelt wrote: I'm onto you Mark! I'm sure you'll make us use each others archtypes for our villains. There would be a certain delicious symmetry to that, wouldn't there?
Whew! Done and submitted, with literally not a word to spare. I can't believe it took me until 3 in the morning... whenever I was looking it over for the "final" time I kept turning up glaring errors to fix. Hopefully I didn't miss anything. Regardless, time for sleep.
WHEW, just finished, and for sure, I'm not going back to look at it till it's all over :) NOW I have time to post on these threads. Took me a full 2 days to revise my one idea, and it wasn't until the last evening that I changed one skill to another and it really pulled the whole class together. Like night and day. But it's in, good luck everyone!
PS if our villains have to use our archetypes, that might just be awesome.
Okay ... the button has been pressed! ::nerves kick in big time:: Done and submitted :)
Thanks for entering RPG Superstar—good luck!

What a simultaneous feeling of relief and crazy self doubt. :-P
It's away! Good luck, everyone!

You could be right. For the monster stat-blocks last year, we had to use someone else's monster concept from Round 2.
I guess we'll find out on 2/1!
OK, time to relax a little bit and get some [real/paid] work done! ;-)
Done. Submitted, for what it's worth. It was harder to push the button this time. I keep thinking that some stupid, little mistake I could have caught made the difference that landed me in the alternate slot instead of the top 32. It was a conscious decision not to get stressed out about the first round entry. Now I'm paying for it.
Just submitted and I'm probably the last one!

Ditto. In fact I thought for a split second, maybe if I hit the back button it will unsubmit my entry and I can give it one last look. That's how it works, right? ;)
I've been done since last night.
Done! With an hour to spare no less! Woot! Maybe I'll get some sleep now…
Ow... My poor Brain. Anyway I have finished with 14 minutes left on the clock. I was hoping to pull it off with less, but better save then sorry.
Finished last night also. It went pretty smoothly. Hope everyone likes it!
Paizo like two seconds ago put up the announcement for "Ultimate Combat" with 20 new archetypes. I know it won't affect the judges decisions but between Ultimate Magic and Ultimate Combat, I'm thinking "I wonder how close my archetype is so something they've already come up with...and did better!"
