Alfons Zitter |
Heya. Used my time on the train to write up some NPC backgrounds/descriptions. On a business trip so posting is gonna be spotty for the restof the week.
N Human Rogue 1/Expert 1 27 years of age
Notable Skills: Bluff, Diploacy, Profession (Alchemy), Knowledge (Nature), Profession (Accounting)
Gabriele is a slightly roundish woman with long blond hair, deep blue eyes and freckled reddish cheeks. In contrast to Albert she is jovial and enthusiastic and everything about her from her girlish voice to her enamoring laughter makes people want to trust her. In her last career as a con artist this trait was somewhat useful, however she had made a name for herself a bit too quickly and thus decided to put the gathered funds to good use and visit Leipstedt University despite her humble upbringing. Here she met and got together with Alfons a man whom on first sight seemed so different from herself but in truth was the only person there who had ever understood her and seen through her disguise as he himself was a child of the streets.
Today Gabriele is responsible for running the business side of Apotheke Zitter and knows just how to cover up her husband’s illicit dealings and curry favors around town. As of last year she was voted into the town council and has already made many important friends around town.
She and Alfons have a daughter by the name of Maria who is 5 years old and much like her mother is quite the charmer. The girl spends most of her time with her parents at the shop or at home with Gertrun the maid of the house.
LG Human Expert 1 49 years of age
Notable Skills: Knowledge (Nobility), Knowledge (Local), Diplomacy, Profession (Housekeeper)
Gertrun has been in the Zitter family’s services ever since their daughter Maria was born. As a young woman she served the nobility of Leipstedt but lost her respectable position when a young nobleman got too touchy and she talked too much about it. While greyed and a bit tied up in her demeanor and appearance Gertrun is still an attractive woman. She carries the mannerism and air of a big city lady, which sometimes seems out of place in such a place as Grundy. In educating the Maria she places great emphasis on proper appearance and behavior as well as tact, characteristics which the young hot headed dervish who seems to take after her mother has not yet truly mastered.
NG Half Orc Ranger 2/Barbarian 1 52 years of age
Notable Skills: Survival, Knowledge Nature, Intimidate, Craft (Poisoner), Rage, Power Attack,
The Gardener’s name is actually Taruk Bitedead. He received his name as a youth and doesn’t wish to hear it any longer or speak about the days long gone in in the hold of Belzeken where he was once hailed as a ferocious warrior. He left his homeland and its rough ways behind decades ago and anyone who ever asks about it receives nothing but a cold stare. He and Alfons first met during Alfons’ days at the Leipstedt University where Taruk, who is quite knowledgeable on flora and particularly fauna, worked as an expedition guide. When offered a job by Alfons in a peaceful village in the countryside where he would have his own greenhouse and also serve to protect the family Taruk was glad to leave city life and blabbering academics behind for a simpler and calmer life which seemed like a good way to spend the remainder of his days.
Taruk is tall and broad of shoulder with very distinct orcish features. The thin sheen of dark hair all over his body is laced in silver and his sharply cut facial features give him a ruggedly handsome appearance that has many of Grundy’s ladies imagination going wild.
While he spends most of his time in his greenhouse even a casual observer can tell that he is a trained warrior and while he might not be quite as quick or powerful as he was in his younger years even Tommy Two Tongue has instructed his ruffians to stay clear of the man.
He and lady Gertrun maintain a casual romantic relationship which they keep secret from their employers.

Alright Alfons, thanks for the heads up! Everything looks good so let's move this story along then!
Celen |
I would say, check the bodies, check the sites, check the suspects and see if there is a link between any of them. and. . . hope there isnt a next one. Celen left his i-pod with classical music in Isgar. So no magic re-enactments
Calli McDaniel |
Since no one said any different, we can all examine the bodies and then perhaps split up from there as necessary. Some of us can go check out the crime scenes that are closer and maybe others can go talk to any potential suspects/witnesses. Normally I have a healthy fear of splitting up when playing anything like Pathfinder, but I think it might be okay to do while we're in town ;)

*Dun, dun, duuuuuun*
DM Spacefighters |
Sorry for the lack of posts guys, I went out of town for St. Patty's Day. Thinks will pick back up tomorrow, my phone is almost dead.
DM Spacefighters |
Funnily enough, most of the crime scenes were far away from normal foot traffic, and so all but the one in the south streets of Grundy have been well preserved.
Calli's equipment looks good, she's ready for anything (especially drinking!).
Marconis D'monius |
I have a very busy day tomorrow, so I won't be able to check posts during the day. I will however be able to check still, in the evening. Hope we can move the story along at a decent pace, I am really starting to get into this game.
DM Spacefighters |
There will be enough day-light left to walk to get to either the tannery house to the south, or the two locations on the way to the crash site to the east, while supplies may not be necessary, it doesn't hurt to be prepared, you may end up spending the night near either location.
No problems, I won't be mad when someone misses a day, I know it has and will happen again to me.
I'm glad, my buddy's adorable 2 year old is great inspiration!
Judd Stonebarrow |
The third of the Hammer Boys in the rail thin half elf Shemish. Shemish looks the youngest of the Hammer Boys but this has only very recently become the case, for the majority of their relationship he appeared the oldest and he is approaching forty. Shemish showed up in town covered from head to toe in whirling Shoanti tattoos, though he has never spoken of his time before entering Grundy - rumours have Albert as his father, but the two never seem to interact. Shemish is very religious, but seems to worship every god. For some reason the Razmiran priests have banned him from attending the Temple, though neither they nor he will explain why.
DM Spacefighters |
Shemish is indeed awesome, he'll be a great addition to the Hammer Boys.
They are Calli! Sorry about your boring walk through town, but don't worry I'm getting things ready for later (I was just excited to get to our first "fight").
You got it Marconis.
Also, it seems we've lost Alfons already which is unfortunate. Thankfully he'll stick around as an NPC so you'll still have access to his expertise. That means we're down to the 5 person party I was looking for, and though he was the trap-springer I think you guys will be okay without a replacement.
Celen |
Very randomly i'm just kinda Curious if ol Manda Rierson found herself a new beau or is she still gunning for you Judd? Im absolutely adoring everyone's charectors already, to sound redundant they have so much charector!
Judd Stonebarrow |
Lol, well I'm hoping to play up the oblivious thing, though I'll leave that to the DM. I figure Judd thinks he has a charisma score that matches his dexterity, plus he's a little confused about what he actually is - he mostly uses his alter self ability to turn into a dwarf, but is aware he can take other forms and is rather puzzled about his paternity.
Celen |
Be glad i chose to play Celen and not Hepzibah *lawls* she would spend half her time matchmakering you up. I do love the clueless hero sort, if Judd only realized that half the towns maidens have his name written in hearts probably *lawls* Good thing he is the honorable sort eh?
Also randomly someone please tell me im not getting a very awesome old western sort of feel to this town. Perhaps it the homey sort of accents and the kinda 'wild' feel to it. But I picture Judd wearing that long leather duster, and Miss Calli having like the jeans and leather vest sort of. I keep picturing Marconis as the shirt and nice fest type with those neat little wire framed glasses and Celen in that english style suit with the bowler hat. Dion I keep seeing as a strange mix between the miner and the train engineer. *lawls*
I know the armor throws it off some but still.
Calli McDaniel |
I got a bit of a frontier town vibe from Grundy as early as the initial recruitment thread and it's only gotten stronger, though I admit I worried that Calli's accent/speech patterns might stick out at first.
And no worries DM, I figured it didn't make much sense to visit the circus just yet when there's business to attend to ;)
DM Spacefighters |
Absolutely Dion, they look great! You'll be seeing some familiar faces soon enough.
Me'mori |
Clockwork Template Given the hours I keep, I'll just post this here for you to vet.
Judd Stonebarrow |
To my mind clearly significantly more powerful than the celestial and fiendish templates. +2 AC and construct immunities is huge, the DR is much better, most creatures would have significantly higher hp and the smite and resistances it looses over the celestial templates go nowhere near balancing that IMO. Plus the fact that every creature would need to be converted to fit that template rather than being readily available makes it seem problematic.
DM Spacefighters |
Well, it would seem that there are in fact 3 different Clockwork templates, a +0 which is too weak, a +1-+2 which is too strong, and that +2 which is just terrifying.
So here is what I propose:
Clockwork Creature (CR +0 or +1)
Always Lawful Neutral
Rebuild Rules: Senses gains darkvision 60 ft.; Defensive Abilities gains DR and energy resistance as noted on the table, as well as Construct Traits and +1 to natural armor;
Clockwork Creature Defenses
Hit Dice Resist Acid and Fire DR
1–4.......5.....—
5–10....10....5/Adamantine
11+.....15.....10/Adamantine
It looses smight, SR, and an energy that it resists for +1 AC, construct immunities and a better DR. This does mean that if something has the ever common Protection from Law up, they won't be able to get through, but the defensive abilities are nice (and not overpowered on a summoned creature).
-
Don't be discouraged after not being to peg the creature after only 1 crime scene. There were 4 murders, who each died in 4 different ways. Despite the crimes seeming completely varied, there might be a correlation between them if you keep checking things out. It's like the old idiom says, Police work is 90 percent footwork, 10 percent inspiration.
Of all the unusual things Grundy has, a Library does not number among them. There are very few scholars in town, even the brilliant Letka has had little formal training. There might be a few places to look for specific information about the plethora of creatures that threaten Golarion on a daily basis, but they'll be much less obvious.
