Ok Nightflier. But I don't want to use YOUR trait inappropriately. I mean it's your design after all! Would you be more comfortable with me taking a different trait? Could I take Magical Knack from the Advanced Player's Guide instead? It is was more the effect I was going for in idea {an overall increase in casting power rather than an additional spell per day...}

Also my character is complete save for these final details. Do I also get a bonus feat? I have not applied one - as yet.

The trait is not mine. It's from the Iron Kingdoms. You can by all means use the traits from any Paizo's product.

The bonus feat works like this: I review your character's background and if it is detailed and ties your character to the game world, you get a bonus feat.

Ok.. I think I will take the Magical Knack trait. Its more of what I'm looking for anyways. I'll review my character history and see if any adjustments need to be made.


Proceeding. I really shouldn't post on Monday but I can have the char set for approval by Tuesday and be playing by Weds or Thurs no problem.

I have made my changes and Alaerin's story is completed and adjusted. But I suspect from your ...somewhat cryptic responses that Alaerin's story is too long to interest you Nightflier... LOL! So no bonus feat. Sorry... it is wordy, its no big deal. :) I don't mind.

Very detailed background. The bonus is yours, just note in your profile that it's background bonus feat.

Thanks. I'll add the description later today hopefully. My bonus feat was to be "Eclectic" which is explained in the background, but working for both his father and his mother in their different vocations. Let me know if that doesn't make sense, and I'll rethink things.

If you want further bonuses to two weapon fighting, than you do. Although I fail to see why would a Wizard need two weapon fighting. Do you plan to multiclass into Ranger or something?

Ah... {aheh}... I just looked at the rules again and found out why. Without Two-Weapon fighting the penalties for Long & Short Swords is -4/-8. With Two-weapon fighting the penalty is -2/-2 for Long & short sword fighting. So the ambidexterity removes those remaining -2/-2 penalties.

As for the future of Sunamber... I'm going the classic fighter / wizard route.

I intend to go to - Fighter 2 / Wizard 5 / Eldritch Knight 1... then run Eldritch Knight out the rest of the way. Maybe at some point up fighter to 4th ...but its not really needed.

...and a Ranger would not need two-weapon fighting ...depending upon which combat style he choose at 2nd level. Right now Sunamber has both two-weapon fighting and Precise shot so his Wizard spells that require a ranged touch attack to hit do NOT take the -4 penalty when 'shooting' into melee.

I expect I'll be taking combat casting feat at some point.

LOL... all depending upon the scope of this game... and the maximum level we will ever attain. I doubt it will ever be an issue, this not being a sit-down game.

Hmmm... seems I do have another question...

What is the starting cash for character creation? I seem to be way under everyone else. I have no permanent items but some people have 4,000gp+ stat boosting items. Have I missed something?

Bahir, any thoughts on if you want to link our stories at all?

Pretty much, that and I am easily distracted. I can give you a rough idea of the background though.

Background:
Solan born into the Shelzari nobility as the son of a minor prince and courtesan. Hit puberty and all the tieflingness kicked in and mildly freaked out the family. He was basically secreted away from prying eyes for a few years outside the city, with a distant relative of his mother. Distant relative was a town magistrate as well as a wizardly sort. Instilled a belief in law and a sense of duty in Solan and honed his arcane talents. Out of a mix of admiration and boredom Solan followed the local guards around a lot and ended up training with them and developing a fair amount of martial talent, begins to mix magic and martial prowess. Eventually he reaches adulthood and returns to Shelzar. His family forbid him from one of the mercenary groups that provide law and order in the city (too lowly an occupation for the son of a prince). Ended up working for one of the Khemari part owned merchant houses, doing a variety of things.
Part of a exploratory venture to see if a huge abandoned temple to Hedrada contained anything worth the long journey to bring it to Shelzar.
Arrived to find the temple overrun with various titanspawn and was very nearly wiped out by said nasties along with the rest of the explorers. Survivors retreated to a room deep within the temple, containing a pedastal on which rested a great black hammer (see where I'm going with this). Out of desperation (also having had his sword destroyed in the previous frantic retreat) Solan grabs the hammer and swings it at the nearest titanspawn. Blacks out and when he comes to he is standing in a room filled with some very shocked explorers and a lot of dead titanspawn. The hammer has transformed into his preferred weapon and appears to be whispering praise into his mind.
Gets back to Shelzar, praised for saving the survivors from the monsters, promoted and given a new possible venture to investigate. Hence he is going to the the town I've forgotten the name of right now.

Quite a few places that other people could be fitted into that and I still need to actually write about half of it but yeah. That is the gist.

perhaps Bahir's father is on the verge of forgiving him for stealing and activating the abacus. Maybe the trip is his way of redeeming himself to his father, and showing he can be trusted. Since Bahir's father deals in strange devices, and his mother is a herbalist / alchemist. They could have sent him to this new spot to stake the families claim. He would certainly accept any company to assist along the way. Since we're not first level, we could say that the three from Shelzar all know one another and have ventured together before...This is just the first time they've really traveled this far from home.

Sunamber's master Kandarin was from Shelzar. Perhaps Sunamber met them on the road and hearing them speaking in Shelzari decided to strike up a conversation with them to pass the time traveling on the road... practicing his proficiency with the language.

With the line to enter the city as long as it seems I'd say its likely about a little afternoon...say around 1PM to 2 PM.. but Nightflier may be of a different opinion...

...it could just as easily be dusk with the evening traffic trying to get into the city before the gates shut at twilight.

They would need to be reworked, but you can get in if you do them while the party is still at the inn. The game is slow right now so I think that you can make it.

Actually would anther Bladebound magus be ok? It's something I've wanted to try since I first heard about it. Of course I can easily live with out it I just also think it would be very interesting to see how two blackblades would react on close quarters. Kira's blade would be a bastard sword.

After reviewing the options, and seeing the size of the party, I'm thinking a one-trick pony...excellent at healing might be a better answer, so I'm thinking of going back to Cleric / Alchemist...with the Chirurgeon archetype.
