From Jason's most recent post on the subject he said it would take at least a few days to put the final touches on the next playtests. That was Tuesday, and he had to catch up from a couple sick days and being away at a con, so it sounded to me that he was talking about next week at the earliest.
Just my reading of the situation.

Has he made any mention about the Magus update ???
Every time he's been asked, he's said that he's been working hard on Words of Power and that soon after he'll able to release his updates to the Magus. Of course, the Thanksgiving holiday here in the States will slow that down some probably. If we actually get Words of Power on Monday, I'll bet a couple weeks after that we'll get more Magus fun.

All I care about is seeing Words of Power. Magus updates are fine. Words of Power = bigger win.
We need time to devote to trying out Words of Power before we add another round of Magus to things. While I am more concerned with the Magus playtest (as I doubt alternate magic systems will be used in my group), trying to do both things at once will hinder them both. I'd rather wait a few weeks to have it done properly.

Ditto on the willing to wait for it to be done properly.
I will probably use the alternate magic system in my game, but for when the players run into a really different culture.
Standard Wizard meets Words of Power Wizard and both are confused by the other.

That would be a matter of opinion ;)
As someone currently playing a Magus, the Magus update is a little more pressing than a new system that we may, or may not choose to take advantage of.....IMOYuenglingDragon |

This.
Its not going to be that way but I'm hoping for only a week or two of delay between Words of Power and the update.

...i dont care if its 3am out there. It could be up any minute now, :P
It should go up sometime today folks. The snow here and traffic snarl are slowing things down a bit.
Couple of notes here just to manage some expectations. This is a strange new system and we are really going to be focusing on the power level. As such we have it pegged high and are not giving the whole thing so as to get cleaner results. I know some of you are keen to start using it, but I am afraid that here at the start you are not going to have the full tool set to do that (although with some work, I am sure you could get there).
Just some notes before we get going...

So we won't get the system all at once eh? That's fine, just as long as we get the other sections in due time. I figure whatever we get this week will take some time to digest anyway, so if we stretch it out... alls the better.

Correct. Today is just the basic mechanics, plus a good selection of the Wizard/Sorcerer words. That bit alone comes out to 14 pages. We are hoping to take a good look at overall power balance, and since those words are the top end, we need to make sure we get them right before filling out the other classes.

I think this is the most excited I have been about a Paizo playtest. (and I have been pretty darn excited about them all, let me tell you!)
Indeed. A non vancian system I can actually get into. Not that I don't love the psionic power points system.

I can't believe you will let a 'little' thing like snow slow you down. :P

Aren't you guys like inured to snowy conditions in Washington? Everyone I know from that far north thinks anything short of three feet is weak sh*t.
Seattle is different. They have steep hills, and snow is usually thin, quickly melts, then refreezes. Driving in such conditions is very hazardous.

I don't think they do. Working from home negatively impacts productivity (unless you have a mind like Sherlock Holmes... or if you are a single, no-lifer with no hobbies to speak of).
Oh, yes, occasionally one can go on a working spree at home, but unless you have a study, and discipline of a professional writer, you'd better not try to work at home.
Besides, folks who try to bring work home, usually end up as burnt out husks.
Finally, once upon a time James or Erik mentioned, that Paizo working style involves bouncing off ideas in a group. This is rather hard to do as even teleconference sets tend not to convey appropriate atmosphere.

Yay! I was right and playtest soon. Double win!
Warning: The following is gonna get wonky and off topic and will probably not be interesting or useful for many people.

Working from home, also known as telework or telecommuting, actually can be very beneficial for productivity. I actually did my master's thesis on the benefits of an increased utilization of telework in the federal government. Forms of telework including sometimes working from home and working from a satellite office were correlated with increased organizational commitment which is, in turn, correlated with increased productivity. Telecommuting exclusively was the only telework situation which did not increase commitment, though those teleworking exclusively showed the lowest intent to leave their position (read low turnover).
Telecommuting has also shown to increase worker job satisfaction levels which also tends to correlate with higher productivity.
Boosh.

From what I've gathered from Jason's comments, Words of Power still sounds 'Vancian' in that the words need to be studied and memorized daily (assuming a wizard, of course). We'll know more when it goes up, obviously.

I just meant the part of them working in pajamas. :)
