There are a lot of pbps on this board. If DM has his own world and players play in it and DM wants to transform that pbp into a story, who has the copyrights? Further, if the pbp happens in campaign setting published by some company and DM wants to publish pbp in story-form as fan-fiction, does he break copyright?

If the story is set in a game world published by another company (say, Golarion), then the GM would not be able to publish his story due to copyright. Even if he set his game in his own homebrew world, if he used things like ankhegs or otyughs that are open content but not public domain, he'd have to include the OGL as part of his story and would have to make part of his story open content.

If you want to write or publish a fantasy story, it's best, in other words, to build your own world. That said, our community-use policy allows for folks to post fan fiction and the like—you just can't charge money for it.

Do people that try to break your game hurt your Soul?

Why do some people feel the need to try and create god-like characters at like 2nd level?

Gross. No.

Why? It tastes like a mastadge. Don't you like animals that tastes like chicken?

If someone did want to write a Novel or Short story in Golarion, what is the best way to get your attention?

Also, how many people work at Paizo? Do you just have the 1 customer service rep (Cos)? Do you have full time warehouse peps?

James,

If challenged to a duel, what would be your weapon of choice?

And what is the crit range of said weapon?

What is your favored method for dealing with players who are on-again-off-again players when in your gaming circle? In other words, if they are there for several sessions then out again for at least as many, how do you handle their characters?

What is you favorite thing about working in the gaming industry?

What did you have for breakfast? What about your neighbors?

Is there any question for which you have no answer?

Have you seen THIS. It's a preview for a movie called "The Troll Hunter". It is Norwegian and looks exactly like what happens when normal people come across fantasy monsters.

Because it's fun.

Of course, not much is dirtier than a chicken. So pass on those too.

If I had safety... the extinction event that took out the dinosaurs. If safety wasn't as guarenteed... some other point where there were dinosaurs. I wouldn't change nothing though because as tempting as it might be to try to save the dinos... I really do want to play Fallout: New Vegas.

The best way at this point to get our attention in order to get signed on to write a novel set in Golarion is to first be an established author, preferably one who is an established fantasy writer.

Last I checked there were about 30 people working here. I haven't done a count recently, though.

Shakespearean sonnet; x3; I just assume their characters are sitting adventures out and don't really worry about what they're doing or what they're not doing—if it really matters I can always come up with a cool story to explain what they're up to; that I get paid to write and read and develop and edit games; a skinny vanilla latte (no idea about my neighbors); yes.

Is it munchkin of me to make a Fighter with the Roughrider class variant that has a Hyaenodon for a mount?

What would the reasonable cost of such a mount be?

What would the cost of a young Hyaenodon be (so that I can raise it and train it myself [I'm leaning toward guard dog-ish])?

How much can I expect my Hyaenodon to eat on a daily basis?

Is it evil to allow my mount to feast upon the corpses of my fallen foes?

Even if I apply a dry rub and BBQ sauce (and did not kill them for the sole purpose of feeding Cackles)?

Is Cackles a good name for a Hyaenodon mount?

Yes; several thousand gp; not quite so many thousand gp; one CR 1 creature every 1d3 days; no; yum; yes.

If you want a hyaenodon mount, the best bet is NOT to make a fighter but to make a druid or a beastmaster ranger.

Did you know that if you get an electric shock strong enough the appendage shocked never stops tingling?

Dubbing should never be done. Subtitles are always better.

Fansubs are a good place to get tricked.

And subtitles is a really good way to improve your grasp of a foreign language.

That brings me to another question. If the main purpose of the Roughrider variant is to be a mounted combatant, why don't they start with some version of a mount (a la Cavalier), with the option for exotic mounts later? The fluff and crunch of this variant are fully geared toward mounted combat (obviously) but there is no option for a mount outside of purchasing one. Is this simply a balance issue or an oversight?

James, could you provide a link of any sort to which are the limits not to be trepassed (other than the OGL) if someone not beneath Paizo's wings wants to publish a Pathfinder-compatible series of books? Provided it can be done in the first place, of course; or better, what one should do to enter those wings and then do it.

Probably.

We already skirted the issue in Pathfinder #6 and Pathfinder #15, actually.

It's worth noting that you don't need time travel rules to have a time travel module as it usually involves magic whose purpose is to start and end a module and would involve something the PC's can't replicate anyway.

Okay this is a touchy question...and I'm nervous to ask it due to its modern political nature...

How is abortion viewed in Golorion?

We've actually covered this topic in Pathfinder products a few times; in fact, it's covered in the very first adventure for Rise of the Runelords. One of the NPCs who lives in the small town of Sandpoint is a midwife named Hannah Velerin who not only helps deliver babies, but helps women get rid of unwanted pregnancies. This service is discrete and confidential—as in the real world, it's a touchy subject. The fact that I made this character neutral good kind of set off a bit of a firestorm on or forums at the time, as some folks thought that abortions are obviously evil and thus a good character would never perform them. And as a result, it's not a subject that I'm very interested in exploring much more than that in print. I certainly don't want to say which deities condone or abhor abortions, or what each nation thinks of it. This is a topic that each GM is best left to decide on their own as for how it best fits things for their own games.

But that said... Area 45 of Sandpoint from Pathfinder AP #1 is pretty much all that we've had to say on the topic in public.

It's worth noting that child mortality was considerably more common in midieval times. Particurlarly on farms, children were an important element in getting the neccessary work done. The important factor here is that while modern American marriage revolves around the nuclear couple, the midieval marriage was more about the greater families and clans involved.

One of my favorite time travel jokes.

500 people attended Jesus' Sermon of the Mount. All but 20 were time travelers.

Because that changes too much about the class, I suppose. Starting with a mount is a relatively potent class ability, AND it's one that tends to take up a lot of real estate, text-wise.

$1 = Cthulhu (he's not really a god, so he gets the lowest denomination)

$5 = Bokrug
$10 = Shub-Niggurath
$20 = Nyarlathotep
$50 = Yog-Sothoth
$100 = Azathoth

If the list wasn't limited specifically to Lovecraft's deities, I might add others in.

I figured that was the case. I like that fighters have the option (cavalry is more than a guy on a horse with a lance and cavaliers already have the lance shtick), and I recognize that starting with a mount would probably unbalance things, but your options at first level are what? A non-com horse/pony or maybe a mule (if you can ride a mule)? The roughrider abilities don't really kick in until second level (when you should be able to afford a warhorse), so I get that you don't necessarily "start" as a roughrider, but a mount seems to be a central part of the variant, and no mention is made of one outside of the fact that they ride them and their abilities are based off of them.

Just my 2cp.

Oh yeah, and when should we expect APG errata?

Hastur was invented by Ambrose Bierce and not really "turned into" a Great Old One until August Derleth got ahold of him, and thus not allowed into the club when it's limited to Lovecraft's inventions.
