Hello james,
I just need your quick interpretation!.
A bouda's gaze can bestow ill fortune on her enemies. This hex can affect a creature within 30 feet that the bouda can see. The target takes a –2 penalty on one of the following (bouda's choice): AC, ability checks, attack rolls, saving throws, or skill checks. The hex lasts for a number of rounds equal to 3 + the bouda's Intelligence modifier. A successful Will saving throw reduces the duration of the hex to 1 round. Once per day when the bouda uses this hex, she can impose two different penalties on the target instead of just one. If the bouda takes the evil eye hex, it increases the number of different penalties she can impose on the hex's target by 1.
So if I have evil eye hex, it only increases by 1 the number of different abilities I can affect with Bouda's gaze in general? Or this increment only works only when I use the "once per day ability"?
Rules questions and clarifications need to be asked in the rules forum or on the product page so the question can be FAQed.

James which class is your favorite and why?
Who created the alchemist? Was it mainly your idea? Do you play alchemist often?
Bards and clerics and rogues are probably tied for my favorite classes.
I designed the first draft of the alchemist, and then the design team took it through a few more iterations into the final published version. I've run a few alchemist NPCs, and have had some in games I've run, but I've not yet played one as a PC.

Excited for the upcoming Obsidian game, Tyranny? Did you play Pillars of Eternity, and if you did, what did you think of it?
I am indeed excited about Tyranny.
I played all of Pillars, and got halfway through the first expansion before my PC died and I lost the save game. Loved the game till then though.

Hey Jacobs.
Do you use a point buy system for your games? How much?
Do you allow every class in the game in your campaign? Even Occult ones?
If you don't, Which classes you usually don't allow?
I generally use a 20 point buy when I do, but I kinda prefer rolling.
I don't allow summoners, generally, and often don't allow classes that aren't appropriate for the campaign I wanna run. I haven't read the occult classes yet and likely wouldn't allow them; they're too complicated and fiddly for my tastes, but I might relent if a player makes a good argument or the campaign is perfect for them.

I know it's been a while, but do you recall whose idea, and whose work, was it to bring the Jabberwock, the Bandersnatch, and the Jub-Jub bird, to Pathfinder? Assuming it was you, or you were at least familiar with the process, a follow-up question:
A bit of research turns up that the Bandersnatch and the Jub-Jub bird, beyond passing mentions in Jabberwocky, also turned up in The Hunting of the Snark. They still weren't given much in the way of detail, so I'm curious as to how their abilities and powers were decided upon.
Along the same vein, who was the mad genius who interpreted the Jabberwock's "eyes of flame" as heat vision?
It can be hard to remember exactly who comes up with what idea now and then, but I'm pretty sure I was the one who started the ball rolling on the Jabberwock and his friends.
I decided on the powers for the creatures mostly based on the poem, which has a surprising amount of good ideas in there. Such as heat beams from the eyes. (I'm pretty sure that was me.)

Thanks so much for the answer, I think I know how to proceed now! One more thing though:Spoiler:Now to close with another question: From your knowledge of the Modules and AP line, is there any adventure that would lend itself well to have the villain be swapped out for said monk? Maybe even that Strange Aeons chapter with the template in question?
I find writing my own material from scratch daunting and if there was anything out there I could use as a starting point, I'd be happy to take it.
Adding an entire new adventure seems to go against the abridgement method... but I'd probably look at Cult of the Ebon Destroyer; that one's got lots of monk going on in it.

Absolutely correct, it would. The abridged game will end as written in the module, albeit with a disturbing question mark for the monk. The second adventure may happen at an undetermined time in the future, when the stars are right.
I'll take a look at your recommendation, thanks!

That's happened now and then with some of my books. Not sure who that guy is, but I got paid for my work on Crimson Throne so I'm okay with it.

1. Why didn't other gods react to Aroden physically interacting with mortals in the Material World? I thought that was a big no-no that would cause some kind of god war which is why Iomedae doesn't personally clear the floor with Deskari?
2. Kind of the same question, but why didn't Lamashtu infer with Aroden when he temporarily slayed Deskari during his first invasion of Golarion? Hell, why didn't all the demon lords try to forge a mutual protection alliance against him when he killed Ibdurengian like they did when Desna killed Aolar?
3. There seems to be a pretty cool sorority of non-evil female goddesses with Desna, Shelyn, Sarenrae and Calistria. Is there such a thing for the male gods? Do Cayden, Torag, Abadar, Irori, and Erastil hang out and plan ways to take out infernal dukes?

1) Because the majority of his interactions with mortals was likely when he was still in the demigod category. I like to think that his transition to full on deity happened soon after he came to Golarion to defeat Deskari, after which he withdrew from the world of mortals. Because he was a full deity at that point.
2) Because at the time he was a demigod, and Lamashtu likely felt that dealing with him was a demigod problem well below her pay grade. If Deskari couldn't handle him, Deskari deserved what he got, she felt. And the other demon lords didn't forge an alliance because Deskari was messing around on the Material Plane and got attacked by an upstart demigod—this was NOT a case of a vastly more powerful deity invading a demon lord's home in the Abyss, as is the case of Desna's raid on Aolar.
3) That's not something that we've done much with.

How come there haven't been any announcements for any new pathfinder campaign setting books or pathfinder modules for awhile??
Modules: This line is, for better or worse, the one that always seems to take the hits when it comes to schedule shuffling and resource management. In this case, ramping up to produce Starfinder has limited our resources available to produce modules, so there's a gap happening. We haven't abandoned the line but for the moment have nothing to announce for it.
Campaign Setting: This line's still going strong; we've got regularly scheduled books in production for it but the schedule took a hit due to some beyond-our-control realities with how our printer's schedule works. As a result, the line had a ripple with things being pushed back a month, more or less. That said, there's still plenty in the works for Golarion!

So I have question you probably answer before but my do is very stubborn so here gose: can you add multiple of the same stat like kinin strike and foused shot to the same attack role for 3 times int to damage? For example with 2 feats. Crossbowmen deadshot and greater deadshot for 1 times dex to damage combined with gunslingers archetype boltace at lvl 5 gains there dex to damage for 2 times dex to damage? And for the 3rd example: Agile (+1 weapon enhancement) use dexterity instead of strength to dam on finesse able weapon combining with weapon finesse for 2 times dex on damage with an enchant and a class feature

I do not ignore the top part, but it's not a question, typically, just a greeting, so I don't copy that part of the post into the quote in an attempt to prevent walls of text and to focus in on the actual questions. Since this time the top part WAS a question, I included it in the quote and answered it. How's that for ignoring it? :-P
1) Personally, I'm kinda bored by the manasaputras, mostly because lawful good is my least favorite alignment, but also because they all look kinda samey—pretty people who sometimes have extra arms. Kinda repetitive and dull to me. I've actually never read any of them. SO I cracked open Bestiary 5 and glanced at page 162, and learned that the manasaputras are outsiders who seek to perfect themselves and achieve oneness with the universe, and to help mortals achieve the same.
2) Nope. Coincidence, pretty much.
3) Because the base assumption of the game is that the players play heroes who fight against evil forces, and thus the majority of creatures that are needed for the game are a wide range of foes to face, and since the assumption is that you're fighting evil, the foes that you face skew toward evil. Some might argue that it's important for there to be options for good players to use as summoned allies and the like, and that's a big part of why there are as many good outsider races as there are and not fewer. Because the thing is, the number of times an encounter needs to be different in order to fight repetition is FAR GREATER than the number of times a character option needs to be different in order to fight repetition, and as such, it's what the PCs meet that needs to be better represented than what the PCs bring. (Also, evil creatures tend to be more fun to write about and illustrate.)

You've mentioned you don't consider night hags to be fiends, mostly because prior incarnations of D&D have never treated them as fiends. Do you consider Sahkils to be fiends?
Which good outsiders do you consider to be 'celestials'?
If a PC at your table wanted to, for instance, use the inquisitor's bane ability to grant their weapon bane vs fiends (bane vs oni, devils, demodands, rakshasa, demons, daemons, and so on, but not against night hags), would you allow it? (I apologize if that veers too close to a rules question. I'm well aware that RAW, that wouldn't work.)

Yes, Sahkils are fiends.
Angels, azatas, agathions, manasaputras, and archons are celestials. Peri too. And garudas. There's certainly more I'm forgetting.
Why not have it grant bane vs. one of the appropriate alignments for their choice? I guess I'd allow it, but it's a self-inflicted nerf.

I'm honestly having a tough time parsing what you're asking due to the lack of punctuation and the amount of abbreviations in your post. I'm GUESSING you're asking if you can use two different things that allow you to add your Dexterity mod to damage at the same time? No; you can't.

Hello James, how are you today?
I would like to ask you for advice, if you don't mind.
In my home campaign peris and fallen angels have unexpectedly become major players in the state of the world. Because of that I feel the need to detail more the relationship between those two kinds of outsiders and the origins of the peri.
Reading the first book of the damned, I've learned that Dispater's first wife was a mysterious fallen angel and that he is also the father of Ragathiel.
Do you find it compelling to explain that the peris are the descendants of dispater and his first wife, and related to Ragathiel? I fear that this might make the Multiverse feel a little "too small", but at the same time it seems to be a plausible connection.
Were you a player in my campaign, would you be bothered by this origin? or Would you find it reasonable/plausible?

No; she is beloved by all.
She got her name at the shelter I adopted her from, and I liked it enough to keep it.
Her favorite toy is either the laser pointer or the crinkliest noisiest piece of plastic that can be chewed.

Since the Adventurers' Guide has lots of Golarion content, are you more heavily involved than a normal hardcover RPG release? Are you writing any of the organizations or classes, and which one that you're not writing do you most wish you were?
I outlined the book, assigned the freelancers, and will be developing the entire book. I'm not writing any of the organizations, but since I'll be developing the book, I'll be doubtless adding and rewriting sections for ALL of them as needed as part of the book's development.

Will you be designing the Red Redoubt of Karamoss like paizo did for the Emerald Spire? That would be so cool to have another super dungeon.
No. The Red Redobut is not even on my top 20 list of megadungeons on Golarion to explore, in fact. It's probably in the top 50 though, and certainly in the top 100.

Any reason why not summoner? Dont like the Unchained version either?
So you havent read the occult classes hmm. So you didn't participate in their design and playtesting? So I guess you dont have any opinion on those.
Two reasons I don't allow summoners: 1) they're disruptive to game flow when there's more than 4 players, since they are all about summoning monsters and that means that the summoner's turn at the table takes much longer to resolve, which slows down game play and robs screen time from the other players, and 2) I really don't like the design of the original summoner in that it let players design the eidolon from the ground up, which almost always resulted in a goofy, off-model, nonesuch creature that had no real relation to the rest of the campaign setting and felt insulting to the GM who crafted the world. The unchained summoner more or less fixed complaint #2, so I have tentatively started to allow summoners in my games again.
I didn't participate in the design, playtest, development, or editing of Occult Adventures. My favorite part of the book, in any event, is the GM tools stuff, not the classes. That said, I have ALWAYS been a fan of psionics, but not their unnecessary complexity. I think that abandoning the point based mechanic was a good call, but then we (unfortunately, in my opinion) then went back and added new complexities to them that has made them a significant expenditure of time to figure out. Time I've not yet had the luxury or interest in spending. I do QUITE love the ritual rules though.

1) None of them, because they're evil. If I had to worship one, I'd be an atheist.
2) No.

Regarding elves in Golarion, I've sort of fanwanked that the reason they have a Con penalty is not so much that they are weak or sickly or frail by nature, or disconnected from the living world like dhampir (another race with a Con penalty), but that they evolved / adapted to a different world and a different ecosystem, on Castrovel, and have never fully adjusted as a race to Golarion's climate, gravity, disease, etc.
Has a similar (or different!) rationale come up behind the scenes, or has the Con penalty generally been accepted as part of backwards compatibility, and that elves are just not as robust or healthy as most other humanoid races?
Thanks again for all the insights you share with us here!

Religions on Earth were and are complicated, and Golarion has all the pieces needed to represent that complexity and just...never follows through.

Yes; we tried this with words of power. I don't see us trying this again anytime soon. Mana (I assume you mean spell-point) systems are not of interest to me; they work well for computer RPGs, but suck for tabletop games since they add so much clutter to tracking. Plus, spontaneous casters kind of already do this exact thing without the clutter of spell points.
I haven't.

It's backward compatibility. Had I not been worried about that I would have pushed for elves to be +2 Dex, +2 Int, –2 Str. Which would map to them being the classic fighter/wizard a lot better, since a low Str fighter is viable in ways a low Con one isn't.
