In earlier editions of D&D, the oinodaemon was the "boss" daemon lord, basically. In fact, was kinda the ONLY daemon lord. In Pathfinder, we've been somewhat cagey about who or what is in that role; see Book of the Damned III for more info.

Any chance of some sort of agreement with WotC (if that's required) of PDF releases of all the old magazines? I'd like PDFs, for example, of Savage Tide.

Also, what about the big book treatment for Curse of the Crimson Throne, Second Darkness, and Legacy of Fire?

No. That's something WotC would have to do on their own, since they own those materials 100%. And further, Paizo's pretty comfortable being on the licensing end of things, rather than the licensee end.

We DO own all of those, so big books of those are as possible as a Rise of the Runelords one. But when or even IF something like that makes sense for us to do depends on lots of stuff beyond the "would it be cool."

Hey James,

I was looking at the spells Greater Teleport and Interplanetary Teleport.

GT: "This spell functions like teleport, except that there is no range limit"

IT: "This spell functions as teleport, except there is truly no range limit "

What's the difference between "no range límit" and "truly no range limit"?

The difference is that greater teleport was built for a game (D&D) that didn't include other planets as a part of the core assumption of the game.

Pathifnder does, and we wanted to keep interplanetary travel more special than just a 7th level spell.

The difference is, if we were to rebuild the game today, that "greater teleport" would have a range limit of "planetary." And that's how it DOES work on Golarion.

Oh, I thought he was a demon of onions! :P

Is it just me or does the new mesmerist class feel kinda problematic considering the inherent disregard for the needs/desires of individuals in its class features?

No. Because interplanetary teleport is in one of the hardcovers as well. It's the base assumption as far as I'm concerned.

How about a Book of Traits. Book of Feats. Big Book of Classes and Archetypes. Mostly reprints, but include errata, fix typos, and maybe a little new stuff.

I'd buy one of each.....

I'm more interested in story content and world content and monsters. We already do books like you request; things like Ultimate Combat and the Advanced Class Guide and the Player Companion line should provide more than enough traits and feats and classes and archetypes.

A big book that simply gathers all that content together in one big book and "fixes errors" would be a frustrating waste of time in my opinion, since the bigger a book is, the more impossible it is to keep it error free. I'm more interested in the game itself, and playing it, and creating stories for it, and fixing the little errors myself as needed to make those stories work than I am obsessing over chasing a unicorn or other impossibility... such as a book that's error free.

That's an adventure plot that didn't require Occult Adventures. We've done quite a lot with the Dominion already. In fact, they've played such a strong role in Iron Gods that I'm not really ready to go back to them anytime soon. We'll see.

Mind control isn't inherently good. Turns out, our iconic mesmerist is evil.

It's what you DO with it, I guess. Don't take advantage of those you mind control, and try to limit your control to doing good work with them, I guess. But yeah... it's basically slavery, so it's a lot easier to be evil with it.

I don't see this as a problem though. There's plenty of good guy options. It's okay to have some that skew evil.

I'm looking forward to helping out; it's not going to be a LOT of words—a pretty small chunk overall, in fact, since I'm sorta taking a writing break for now, but I'm delighted that Jason asked me to join the team!

I'm not worried about it hitting the 50,000 mark though. If it does, cool; if it doesn't, it's still made a LOT of money already.

I never said it was inherently good. I meant to imply I felt it was inherently evil, especially after reading this iconic mesmerist's story. *shudder* I've always felt that those kinds of stories where peoples have their minds deteriorate or be messed with are the scariest.

Other than that, though, Occult Adventures is awesome! My only regret is it came out AFTER I joined up with a Carrion Crown game here on the boards. There's SO much Ustalavic-style awesomeness I could get up to with it! :)

James,

When Aroden was alive and his religion was active, did his faith interact much with those of Abadar and Erastil? Did they have mostly positive interactions and agreement, or were there any major disagreements or conflict?

So I successfully managed to integrate 2 of the IP D&D monsters into pathfinder namely Mindflayers and Beholders. I made beholders alien aberrations that get seeded on to planets by meteorite. Basically Great mother is a rogue planet with rings of around her full of seeded meteorites that periodically get hurled toward planets to create hives of beholders. As for mindflayers they are an alien race that are now beholden to the great old ones and spread throughout the galaxy to further their goals. Many powerful mindflayers work for the dominion of the Black in my golarion version. What do you think James?

Would a mega adventure module based on your Sands of the Scorpion God adventure be something you and the other Paizo staff would like to work on putting out in the future? I'm sure alot of people would love to face off against Rahotep! ;) :D

Side Note for you, James:

You can get the anti-charm/possession power of Prot/Evil by buying a clear spindle ioun stone and setting it into a Wayfinder. Cost, 7k. It's the main power people want, of course.

The +2 AC/Saves resistance against Evil would be less then the 14k of buying a ring+2 and Cloak +2 which protect against Neutrals and Good too...

A Necklace of Protection from Evil was statted up for Age of Worms in Dragon Magazine, and given a market price of 30k.

Just giving you precedent to go by.

Of course they did; Aroden's faith was part of the core 20 at that time, and as such, there was a lot of interaction going on between them all. We haven't said much about these interactions though, since it's all past and we focus more on the present.

But that said, I strongly suspect Aroden's lawful neutral faith got along VERY well with Abadar's and pretty well with Erastil's. No major disagreements or conflicts at all.

I was never a fan of the great mother beholder deity concept at all, and mind flayers are lawful whereas the bulk of the Lovecraft stuff is chaotic, so despite the superficial similarities between a mind flayer and Cthulhu, I never saw them as rea.ly making sense working together. Furthermore, the Dominion of the Black is NOT an ally to the Lovecraft stuff, so having mind flayers work for both outfits doesn't make sense to me.

While I would LOVE to put out "Shadows Under Sandpoint" as a mega adventure or even a full on adventure path, I would not love to do so with Sands of the Scorpion God, because that part of the campaign was an already-published adventure. AKA: just buy the 3.5 version of Necropolis and you have all the materials I had to start converting it over.

Since it's already published and we don't own the rights to it... it's not gonna be a Paizo product.

That's not a precedent so much as some sneaky rules shenanigans as far as I'm concerned. But the neckalce of protection from evil is indeed the one that I was sorta remembering, and 30k sounds about right for something that powerful to me.

I suspect Aelryinth is thinking of the Legendary Planet AP.

I'm not sure if this exists, but if it doesn't, I'm thinking about making a custom spell available for my players. Something that can transfer an enchantment from one weapon or armor to another, so that if players for example find some adamantine armor, they can move their +2 light fortification from their old armor to it, or they can take the +2 flaming from a whip they found and put it on the longsword they're proficient in, etc.

I'm thinking of staggered levels...

1) a lesser version that works to a certain power level max and has an expensive material component (but nothing unreasonable so you wouldn't use the spell)

2), a regular version that hits the lesser version's limit with no material components, or has no limit except it that it can't do artifacts when you use an expensive material component

3) a greater version with no material components for anything that isn't an artifact, but can move an artifact's essence to another equivalent item type for a cost.

What level spell do you think these spells should be? What types of casters would it fit the list of best? How much do you think would be a reasonable cost for these spells' components?

I don't think it should be a spell at all. Rather this is essentially a variation on basic magic item enchantment so relevant feats should be involved. And it should always have a cost based as an item upgrade for the target item.

Nope; you misunderstand.

Sandpoint is indeed in my Homebrew. It never really got fully detailed out until Burnt Offerings, though, but it's essentially the same town in both Golarion and my homebrew, wiht one difference—Sandpoint in my homebrew is on the east coast of the continent, not the west. I fixed that in Golarion.

I was talking about the Starstone in the post you referenced, not Sandpoint.

I think a spell like this is really interesting but it messes with the game's economy a bit. Furthermore, the more common these spells are, the less common weird or unusual magic weapons become, which is a shame from a variety and world-interest viewpoint.

I would include all full spellcasters and most half-spellcasters on the list and no dabblers like paladins. I'd make the spell 5th level with a relatively costly material componet, since I already allow polymorph any object to do this more or less for free.
