![]() IIRC Mythic Advanced Class Guide class features, feats, and spells were originally going to be a stretch goal of Mythic Mania. That stretch goal was swapped out for something else within a few hours of it being posted, with the stated reason being that Jason/Neil didn't want to commit to working with a then-unreleased rulebook that no one had seen. Now, I'd be completely on-board with new supplements for mythic class features for all the new classes, including the unchained classes and the vigilante when it comes out. Most of the ACG class features are already mythic-ized (since they are duplicates of features of older classes), but there are still a few there that could use some mythic-ization, along with the occult adventures classes. And if everything in the ACG, PFU, OA, UIntrigue and Horror Adventures ultimately gets a mythic treatment, then we could have enough for a second round of Mythic Mania Kickstarter hardcovers! ![]()
![]() I can definitely recommend the Gothic Campaign Compendium at this price for those who don't already have it. The Mythic Minis bundle is a good deal for those without the Mythic Hero's Handbook (though you may be better off just buying the MHH directly from the Legendary store while it is on sale). The Mythic Monster Bundle is also a good deal if you can afford it, though the price is rather high to spend all at once. Is this bundle a temporary sale, or is it going to be a permanent bundle a la the Interjection Games Class Bundle and Rite's 101/30/In the Company Of/Secrets Of bundles?
[Legendary Games] A new direction for Mythic Monsters! What myths do you want to see made monstrous?
![]()
![]() Well, my favorite mythology is Greek, but that's for the stories; there aren't as that many cool monsters compared to other mythologies. The Romans added some other creatures that would make good monster manual entries.
Outside of the Greco-Roman sphere, I'd be interested in a Mythic Japanese mythology installment. ![]()
![]() If you are considering using mythic rules, the Mythic Hero's Handbook is highly recommended, and possibly required. Mythic Adventures is essentially a buggy feature-incomplete alpha version of the mythic rules, and the MHH is the real deal. One of the things it adds is "Mythic Class Features". For each class feature, there is an upgraded version you can get by spending either a mythic feat or a mythic universal path ability. They have mythic class features for every Paizo class written prior to the Advanced Class Guide, and a handful of non-Paizo classes. So, those are some nice options for paladins. The book also has other mythic path abilities which play nicely with paladins. You might also consider the Mythic Spell Compendium, which has mythic versions of all Paizo spells prior to the ACG which don't appear in Mythic Adventures, as well as many non-Paizo mythic spells. As a spellcaster, paladins can benefit from it. Legendary Paladins also has some good options for paladins. Rite Publishing also has a lot of great options for paladins. Their three Secrets of the Divine supplements are useful to all divine casters, and give a lot of insight into their upcoming campaign setting Questhaven. The Secrets of Adventuring also has a fair number of paladin-friendly options.
On the cheaper side, Rite Publishing also has 10 Paladin Magic Items. 101 Simple Archetypes contains 5 paladin archetypes, and 1001 Spells contains hundreds of paladin spells. Hrmm, it seems a bit odd using this alias when less than half of the products I am recommending are Legendary Games. Maybe I need a Legendary and Rite alias? EDIT: Ah, right, and Spheres of Power has archetypes converting each of the core spellcasters to use SoP. ![]()

I have mixed feelings about this idea. On the one hand, I think it's great to have more refined sorting of topics. On the other hand, if this idea had been implemented earlier, I may have missed some products that ended up interesting me, including Legendary Planet itself. I don't particularly care for the adventure path format, so I ignore Paizo's ads about their APs and keep the Paizo AP subforum hidden. I bought into Legendary Planet for the setting, without much intention of running it as an adventure. If you had only posted about Legendary Planet in a separate AP-specific subforum, I might not have seen it while the kickstarter was running, and that would have been unfortunate because I'm really enjoying it so far. ![]()

![]() In addition to what Anguish said, if you want to play with the mythic rules, regardless of whether you want to use mythic psionics, you should really get the Mythic Hero's Handbook for its "Mythic Class Features" and "Mythic Solutions", which fix a lot of the issues discovered in Mythic Adventures in more than a year of subsequent play. Frankly, after reading and using the MHH, I can't look at the original Mythic Adventures as anything but a woefully incomplete and unpolished first draft. The Mythic Hero's Handbook is the real deal. ![]()

![]() Woo! More mythic support for two hardcovers that I didn't actually like to begin with. But I didn't like Ultimate Magic either, and I still loved the MSpC and MHH, so my enjoyment of your mythic-izations doesn't seem to depend on my enjoyment of the original thing you mythic-ize. So heck yea, I'm getting both Mythic Magic: Advanced Spells III and Mythic Magic: Occult Spells. However I feel the urge to point out that Amanda Hamon Kunz is credited as an author in the Mythic Spell Compendium, so this won't exactly be her LG debut. ![]()
![]() James Jacobs wrote: Well... hearing more and more feedback from folks who DO enjoy mythic content certainly helps. There just didn't seem to be a lot of that love associated with Wrath, alas. Either because people are more prone to post when they're angry than they are when they're happy, because I take the negative comments to heart more quickly than the positive ones, or more likely due to a combination of the two. There are other possibilities. For example, it is quite possible that a lot of people love Mythic but not Wrath of the Righteous. I love the mythic rules. Aside from MA, I have three hardcover mythic rulebooks that I helped fund via kickstarter. I recently backed a KS for a mythic adventure path (which I assume you already knew about, seeing as "James Jacobs writes a section" was a stretch goal:) ). I have an abundance of smaller PDF mythic supplements. And I've been playing with But I couldn't stand WotR. There are essentially three areas in which it falls short: Firstly, the CR/ELs are way off. Mythic Adventures asserts that one mythic tier is worth approximately half a character level. That assertion is wrong. A mythic tier gives significantly more of a power boost than half a level. The first mythic tier is also worth more than subsequent tiers, but Mythic Adventures values all of them the same. The encounters in Wrath are built around this faulty assumption.
Secondly, you overestimated non-mythic monsters. In Mythic there are a lot of abilities of the form
Generic Mythic Ability wrote: This ability does X. However, if your enemy is non-mythic, this ability does Y, and Y is insanely powerful and can't be blocked by anything except by being Mythic. When abilities like that one come in to play, the status of being mythic is more important than the actual abilities granted by a Mythic tier or rank! A party of Mythic PCs can steamroll encounters of all non-mythic creatures, even those way above their challenge rating, by using abilities which are extremely potent against non-mythic foes. When I first started GMing mythic, I struggled trying to figure out how to challenge the party with non-mythic foes. I combed over the monsters' builds to make them as resilient as possible. I gave them powerful templates. I used monsters way above the party's level. But the non-mythic monsters always ended up trivialized by the mythic PCs.Eventually I realized I had been approaching things from the wrong direction. I shouldn't have been trying to make non-mythic monsters and NPCs a challenge on their own. Instead, every encounter should either involve a mix of mythic and non-mythic foes, or should involve only mythic enemies. You don't need to go full-out with mythic-izing monsters. Just give them a mythic simple template. Or, for even less, give them the mythic subtype so that they count as mythic, but don't give any other benefits. It increases their ability to challenge the PCs tremendously. Lastly, I personally found the story in WotR abysmally dull. It is entirely a matter of preference and has absolutely nothing to do with the Mythic rules.

![]() So I'm quite hopeful that we can hit the third stretch goal. Why? Because of your first update:
1st update wrote: This is very important because 90% of all kickstarters that reach 30% in the first five days hit their goal, so I am extremely excited to be so far along. That indicates that 90% of kickstarters reach a level of funding 10/3 times what they had after five days. After five days, this project was 137% funded ($8220), which is 30% of 27,400 dollars. If the trend holds up, we have a 90% chance of hitting 27,400, well past the Legendary Mythic 17,000 stretch goal. And, hopefully, if we do get that far, there will be an equally awesome fourth stretch goal. ![]()
