Piecemeal Armor?

Rules Questions

For the sake of the continued pursuit of the ever elusive chain mail bikini, I hereby ask if rules for Piecemeal Armor have been created yet.

A chain shirt is a piece of a chainmail suit. Halve it again to get your chainmail bikini? What does that come to? +2 AC, +6 dex? Maybe even less..

Hmmm...that actually might work. Thanks. ^_^

yeah I'd go similiar to umbral

anything in line with the light armors would be acceptable , just match the bonuses and penalties with existing armor and you can't go wrong.

as paizo has said previosuly (I have no idea where) in the case of weapons you can dream up any weapon you like just pick a similair existing weapon and give it the same rules and you can't go wrong.

Hell there's even stats for an armoured Kilt which is about as close as you can get the a chain mail mini skirt
+1 AC +6max Dex 0 armor check 0 arcane fail

anything from 1-2+ armor with +6 to +8 max Dex for somthing that grants a bonus

and if its just for fluff then treat it as clothing or armor with no bonus and no max dex, which still means you can enchant it.

In 3.5 there was armor called composite full plate which could be dissembled into a breastplate or a chain shirt.

If all the lady is wearing (and I certainly hope it's a lady we're talking about) is the chainmail bikini I'd hazard to say that it would offer as much protection, perhaps less so, than a regular set of clothes; that is to say +0 AC. That is unless it's magical; then the AC bonus is whatever one can afford up to +5.

This is a fantasy game... and you are ruining mine. Chainmail Bikini should give a full +6 armor bonus and a bonus to all charisma related checks, including feint checks. Thank you very much. OH.. that is only if a hot chic is wearing them.

Does that mean if the barbarians ball sack is hanging below the lion cloth he gets a bonus to intimidate checks ?

not so much as it leaves him open to recieve the Sickened condition from the dirty fighting combat maneuver!

Fear my halfling monk who works out on a speed-bag!

Dark Archive

If I were inclined to using piecemeal, I'd limit it to chain shirts and breastplates, and reduce the bonuses given by both of them alone, so that the extra +1 for greaves, bracers and / or kilt wouldn't be too terribly over-the-top.

Ah but you forgot the distraction bonus.

Light Armor - Chainmail Bikini - 125 gp - AC: +0 - max dex: +5 - Arcane failure 10% - weight 10 lbs
Special Quality: Provides a distraction bonus to AC equal to your charisma modifier against melee, touch attacks, and ranged attacks (20 ft or less) by Humanoids. Cannot be worn in combination with any item that grants an armor bonus.

Contrary to assumptions this armor is available for males as well as females and the distraction bonus is equally effective regardless of the gender of your opponent.

Now they have.

The Exchange

Yep - the haramaki 'belly warmer' is just 'a simple silken sash lined with chainmail or articulated plates and tied around the stomach to protect it', so is a mere bit of fluff away from being the stats for a chainmail bikini (just pull it up a bit...). Best of all, it has no penalties of any kind, so your sorceress character can wear one too! :)
