I've been debating whether I should really give this game ago. I find the setting really interesting, but don't have the books and feel handicapped with my limited knowledge, but I think I'll give it a shot. Ubel is sort of an anti-authority type, which I think will make for some interesting role playing, and and f I bow out, it could be he just decides to split. I'll finish statting him and rounding him out in the next few days.
thanks

Nightflier - My apologies for fading out, but as you're probably guessing, I'm going to bow out of this game. I dig your stuff, and I like what I've seen of the Midnight setting, but my lack of knowledge leaves me feeling seriously handicapped. At the same time, someone local to me that I've been trying to connect with for a F2F game just started a pbp, and I'm going to jump on that. Since it's still early, and you had plenty of interest, I'll be content with reading along and letting someone else take the spot.
thanks
- Bill

I'm sorry to see you go, B. I understand your position. Midnight can be a little overwhelming if you do not have access to background info.
To the rest of the players: The game will begin in earnest tomorrow, when you enter Steel Hill. The trip from the Black Tower to the Forge of Shadow will lead you through the Shadow-controlled territory, so if you do not want to RP anything, my next post will introduce you to Steel Hill.

Thanks, NF. I'll be reading along and will pick up the 2ed book in pdf form, so I hope you'll still consider me down the road if you need replacements or start another game.
Sure. I'll keep you in mind. In fact, you may want to follow my light-side game. I may need replacement character at some point.

You use Pathfinder Cleric and add Command Undead as bonus feat at 1st level and Astirax companion at 2nd level. Izrador's domains are Death, Destruction, Evil, Magic, and War domains. A neutral legate may not choose the Evil domain. The rules for Pathfinder Cleric apply. (You may decide to go with a Neutral legate if you want to go pale later and join the good guys). Channeling Energy works as in Pathfinder. Spontaneous Casting: Legates can channel the negative energy of their prepared spells into inflict spells that they have not prepared. The legate can exchange any prepared spell for an inflict spell of the same level or lower. He may not, however, convert a domain spell into an inflict spell.Check this link: http://darknessfalls.leaderdesslok.com/class_legate.htm
I just realized that since you let me play an Inquisitor-Legate I don't have the Channel Energy feature to use for the Command Undead feat. Should I take the feat anyway, not have a feat, or try and find a worthwhile replacement?

Since you play Inquisitor, you don't get Channel Energy. Your class is as presented in APG.

I know that. That is why I asked about the feat. You said to use the Pathfinder Cleric and add a bonus feat and the astirix. I was asking if I am replacing just the cleric portion with inquisitor leaving me with the Command Undead feat which is useless without the Channel Energy feature, or the cleric+bonus feat with the inquisitor.
I also used the Strength Domain because in the Campaign book, it said that Soldier Legates can only use that domain.
So Kanok, get ready to be enlarged.

Muahaha! It'll be a little ridiculous at 7th level and above if we get there. Huge two-handed fighter? Dear god. Of course going into buildings will be a bit of an issue.
Huge two-hand fighter wielding gargantuan weapons.
Ah, that made me laugh for some reason. I like Shayla
I wrote the ass-smack as an edit on a whim.
