Sometimes it really sucks to be the practice kid.
Oh, those are fun. :/
Although, reverse that for me. I seem to recall saying almost the'nother practice kid. My parents, I think, just didn't understand what it was to start out without a job or credit history. Mom worked while I was in junior high and high school, so I was "mom" until the parents got home from work. Then I was a kid again. I wasn't allowed to get a job because I had to watch my brothers and "school is your work". I got a $10 / wk allowance for watching my brothers...and I had to buy all my clothing and anything other than basic school supplies with that money.
So at 18 I have no work history, no money, no credit history, and parents unwilling to even cosign a loan or lease.
I went to Manpower and got a factory job pretty quickly - I started work the day we graduated, as the ceremony was late that evening and I got a first shift position at the LifeSavers factory (did you know you can SMELL sugar if it's around in large enough quantities?). Thank goodness for my scholarship, or I couldn't have afforded school at all. I had to cry and beg to get my dad to fill out the FAFSA form because he didn't want to put his financial information down on it...
Thank goodness I'd found out that you get changed taxes on non-tuition portions of scholarships BEFORE tax time came around that first year - so I had enough saved from summer work to pay the couple thousand in income taxes. >.<
My middle brother got the same scholarship (went to the same school for the same major,...
Mom helped me out with FAFSA, and did her best to help me understand credit. I have since learned that she was wrong a few things when I worked at a local bank, a job she actually helped me to get when I was trying to get out of college, so it's not like she was ALWAYS a roadblock/obstacle. That said, her viewpoint on a lot of things in the professional world are/were woefully outdated.

I'm ready by the way I'll contact you on Yahoo IM really soon. I got something for your character's ears only. Of course you can tell everyone after I tell you.

There are people who like Dragonlance?
I liked the first few books

Love it all, soup to nuts, although I am very much enamored of Taladas and mourn it's ravaging. Here's hoping we return to the setting sometime soon.

I have to be honest I pretty much just stuck with the first 6 to 9 books myself. You can surely guess who my favorite character is.

Love that little guy. Wish he weren't used as often, though.

I was at ODJFS' site in the county seat to get information for the gov't to foot some of the educational bill I'll be accumulating on my return to school. I don't think I'll have much luck for Spring quarter, but hopefully I can finagle something from them for Summer. Monday, I see an advisor about trying to figure what I want to do beyond getting an Associates of Science at a two year before transferring. I'm also debating retaking the exams that evaluated my composition, math and reading skills. I don't have to take any reading courses (duh!), and my composition score was one point shy and my math score two points shy of being placed into an accelerated course. Not bad for twenty years away from school. Polynomials are tricky when you haven't seen them for a pair of decades.
