When a thief arrives at the Pathfinder Lodge in Almas bearing stolen artifacts and writings pointing the way to a lost dwarven gallery, you are sent into the rugged Aspodell Mountains to find the famed dwarven explorer last known to be searching for the gallery as well as the gallery itself.

So... this is going to be a Pathfinder Society game in pbp format. That means characters will need to be PFS legal. If you are interested, but don't already have a PFS character it isn't complicated. Basically you need a 20 point-buy character. You can get the full details in the guide to organized play.
I'm looking for 6 players. Because these scenarios are designed to be playable at different tiers of difficulty we will need six players who are close enough in level to play together. This particular scenario could be played at levels 1-2, or 3-4, or 6-7. Once we have four people signed on who are interested in one of those tiers that will be the official level this table plays at.
This game is a short scenario by design, but being pbp will probably run around 3-4 months at a rough guess. If your character is in the middle of a play-by-post they won't be eligible to sit in on other tables- so you may want to make a new one or use a secondary character if you are someone who is playing at cons or local meet-ups.
Once the scenario is finished, I will fill out and scan the chronicle sheets as pdfs, then email them.
Okay now... who wants to find that lost Dwarven Gallery?
Evan Whitefield |
Ithuriel,
I'm defiantly interested. I do not have PFS character yet but will work on one today. I'm very flexible as far as party role so if you, or anyone else who is going to play, has any suggestions on far as class and/or build let me know. Also I'm fine with any tier but since I'm new I would prefer to play tier 1.
Thanks,
Evan
Kayluss |
All,
Evan here with my first ever PFS character. Please take a look and let me know what you think and/or if I missed/messed-up something with the build. Also my spelling and grammar are pretty bad, normally I'd have my wife proof read the back-story but I'm at work, so if anyone sees any mistakes in there please let me know so I can fix it.
Thanks,
Evan

Characters look fine, except Khedon is only partially finished (need skills, spells, & gear).
Gerald> You can make an alias for Alie which is actually her PFS profile page if you want. The other PCs have their names in green and this is why. You'd go here and click Register my Character. This will set her up with a unique PFS # that you will need when we report it at the end.
Khedon |
Khedon,
Pg 17 of the guide under Step 10: Equipment;
"Every character in Pathfinder Society Organized Play begins the champain with 150 gold peices."
Happy Shopping,
Evan
80 more gold, W00t!
So, some questions. I'm a little fuzzy on what can be purchased at startup. One part of the guide states that no magic items are available at startup, but another part lists scrolls (low level ones) as always available. Is this clarified anywhere?
If scrolls are available, can they be purchased and inscribed into a spellbook before start of play at the appropriate cost?
Finally, as equipment in the Core Rulebook is available, does this include copy access to other spells (and then the copying costs themselves? I would presume not, but I want to make sure I'm not missing something. Haveing a packed full spellbook (or perhaps a backup spellbook) are both of interest to me.

I don't have the guide with me right now, but as I recall you cannot buy potions or scrolls as part of your pre-game gear. In most cases (including this one) this is a technicality as once the adventure starts you will then be able to buy them before heading off into danger. Occasionally you aren't able to because of time issues location or what have you. That won't be an issue here.
You won't be able to start with them added to your book, but there is enough travel time involved that you should be able to get some rolls in on the way.

Okay, the relevant text in the character creation section is this part from step 10 Equipment.
All of the armor, weapons, and equipment in the Pathfinder
RPG Core Rulebook are available for purchase. There are
additional items, noted in Chapter 13, that are legal for
purchase from other Paizo Publishing products. You may
not purchase any magic items during character creation.
See Chapters 8 and 9 for purchasing additional items after
your first completed scenario.
So the part later in the guide refers to those items as "always available." That means something specific in organized play. There are restrictions on purchasing magic items beyond how much gold you have. Certain items are always available to walk into a shop and buy (as long as you are in a town with at least 5,000 people) like mundane gear, 1st level spells and scrolls, and everything else listed in the "always available" section (page 24). If it isn't on that list (potions of 2nd level spells for example) you cannot buy them until you either find them in the course of an adventure or gain enough prestige with your faction that you personal cap on spending increases. For example to purchase a potion of Cure Moderate Wounds you have to either find one in the course of an adventure (which opens the option for you to buy it) or it will automatically become available once you have 4 prestige points at which point all items costing 500 gp or less are available to you.
Every scenario (from season 1 on) will have two things your faction would like for you to do for them. Succeeding on those missions earn you the prestige. One is usually easy while the other is hard or even a matter of chance. You aren't expected to always get both of them. If it requires you to make a roll that you cannot make, you might consider talking your teammates into doing it for you. If you have faction allies (two players from Osirion for example) only one of you have to get it and your faction team members all reap the benefits.
That was probably more rambling information than you were looking for ;)
Barator>> even if you guys are in the process of making characters, check in with us to confirm that you and your wife were both interested when you can. Once I know who all is in the table for sure I may go ahead and kick off the IC thread and let you guys make the sheets as we get going.

Oh and about copying costs>>
Yeah it is as core with one exception. If you want to copy a scroll to your book which you found during a scenario, you do not have to pay for the scroll itself to do the copying. (Normally anything you find in a PFS scenario is free to use during the game, but if you want to keep it beyond the session you have to buy it.) So you can either buy a scroll, use a found scroll, or share spellbook access with another wizard in your group. Costs and time are as per the core rules.

Finestkind :) Khedon is going to keep hold of his 80gp windfall for now :)

Thanks for pointing that out. I was going to rotate in alt's 1 & 2 tonight if I hadn't heard back, but they've been around and active in other recruiting threads so I feel fine doing it now. Also I'm especially glad to rotate in Luke as he was going to play an online table I ran one night, but due to technical issues we could never get him connected.
1) Evan Whitefield, Kayluss - Fighter 1
2) Ramarren, Khedon - Wizard 1 (Conjurer)
3) Eric Swanson, Wadi Ahk'kolon, Sorcerer 1 (Elemental)
4) Gerald, Alie Saechell - Sorcerer 1 (Fey)
5) Luke Parry, Sekhemre of Karnak - Alchemist 1
6) RedAssassin, Dakram Kasail - Rogue 1
Alt
1) Jelloarm, Samyiel Nesticar - Rogue 1
Luke> Your profile page for Sekhemre is pretty bare bones right now. Only has race, class, and ability scores. Go ahead and fill out your character sheet in there, but we can start in the meantime.
I'll start an IC and OOC thread later today. If for some reason either of you aren't able to step in now, let me know asap so I can let jelloarm know.

Game is active now. This thread is finished unless for some reason we need to pull in another alt. If that should happen, I'll post here so it will show up for them in a thread they have marked.
Roger> I'll note you as interested, but it looks like we have this group filled out for now with one back up already in line. Keep an eye out as the new pbp games pop up here without notice and people sign up fast! :)
