Nik takes a sip of the liquid to find that it is indeed water... but stale and moldy from the time spent in the leather bottle.

If Zeldin tries to read the scrolls or book silently, does he activate the spells if there are any?
So long as they aren't cursed or trapped you'll be able to read them in order to decipher them without expending their magic. It's a spellcraft check to identify spells on scrolls or in spellbooks.
You're not sure about the first scroll, but the second is familiar to you from the initiation test from a year ago, it is a scroll of comprehend languages.
When you open the book, on the first page is drawn a complex sigil in flowing green and blue ink. As you look at it, the design almost seems to shift and shimmer across the page. you can either continue to watch the sigil, or attempt to look away by making a will save.
Master Marcos did say that we are to discover what happened to Lady Anita, find the details of her last expedition and to finish her work. I think we have to finish our assignment. What do you think, Zeldin? Were you able to decipher those scrolls?
The strange symbol continues to twist around on the page, growing brighter in your vision until it is the only thing in your sight, the only thing in your mind. Suddenly you are overcome with the overpowering urge to return the book to where you found it, and go get extremely drunk.
Zeldin ignores Garion and says roughly to Nik, Please give me the satchel, now! Without waiting for her reply, he steps towards her and reaches for the bag.
Calix:
For what it is worth, I have Zeldin as a lightweight in my mind. He would have avoided alcohol in an attempt to keep his powers under control. This compulsion ought to prove interesting!
Zeldin seems oblivious to Nik's discomfort and takes the bag from her hand roughly. He then places the book and the scrolls in the satchel. He puts it back where Nik found it and growls, Leave it alone.
With that he turns on heel and leaves the room, carefully timing the moving platforms to leave.
I am doing the only thing that makes sense! I am going to get drunk. Zeldin exclaims to Garion. Electricity crackles from the tips of his fingers as he goes.
Zeldin moves to the platform and goes to the ground, ignoring the metal man banging his head.
NIk whispers to Garion: "dont worry Garion I m not offended! I ve had clients at the Taberna that make Zeldin's words seem like poetry!! plus i m starting to get the feelin he isnt himself!"
NIK tries to look for signs that Zeldin may be acting weird (i mean other then his words): did he change in any way, like maybe physically?
Just in case NIK will secretly ready her sap and try to stay behind Zeldin for now, talking to him so it doesnt look weird:
To Zeldin: "Calistria knows I m all for having a drink or 2 or 3! Where do you wanna go?"
Zeldin takes a few more steps, and then looks at Nik startled. I am not sure what place to go to. I don't usually drink. Seeming to forget what he just said, he adds, I do not think it will matter, I just need to use my head and get drunk! Where ever you want to go is just fine with me.
[I don't know where you think you are going, Zeldin. The exit is blocked. Why do you need a drink?[/b] Garion walks over to the satchel and looks inside.
I am not sure where we all are... I thought Zeldin had followed Nik to the lab and Garion was still in the bedroom. We have not heard from Samant for a bit, but I think at last post he was keeping watch in the bedchamber. Did I get it right?
I know that Zeldin's taken the magical robes, Nik's taken the jewelry and perfume, and Garion is taking another look at the book and scrolls, but what have you done with everything else you found in the room?
One is a scroll of comprehend languages, the other knock.

Garion replaces the book in the satchel and then places the satchel back on the floor. He then goes to the door of Lady Anita's room. Where in the name of Desna is everybody? Zeldin, you were right. We should leave the lady and go get drunk.
This way my friend! This way! I am glad you realized the most practical way to handle this situation! I hope Nik and Samant join us. calls Zeldin from the courtyard.
Garion and Zeldin leave the huge central chamber of the tower, through the reception room, and into the fading light of twilight that fills the courtyard. Garion's attempt to open the gate proves futile, but he does recall the Samant was carrying the key.
The pair also noticed on the way through the reception room, that there was a glass cabinet filled with several decanters of what Garion has previously identified as alcohol.
Nik, now left alone with the kitty-toy, is sure that it is somehow attracted by her wayfinder.
Ho! Ho! Ho! to the bottle I go
To heal my heart and drown my woe.
Rain may fall and wind may blow,
And many miles be still to go,
But under a tall tree I will lie,
And let the clouds go sailing by, sings Garion in a surprisingly musical tenor as he takes a gulp from one of the bottles. Did you know, Zeldin, one of those scrools, uh, scrolls, is a Knock spell? It could probably open that trapdoor little Nikki keeps worrying 'bout.
