Huh. I thought that conductor didn't like me.

Spoiler:
I just got a paid gig offer to sing in Donizetti's Elisir d'Amore.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm actually starting to miss writing a little. My problem is that I cannot write by myself and all the other writers I know are very anti-collaboration. Oh well. It's probably just as well if I don't pick that bda habit back up. ;)

I don't understand- is it a bad thing that you miss writing itself, or that you miss writing with other people? I've only tried to work on something with my wife once, and our differing philosophies

** spoiler omitted ** keep us from working together much. When you say you need to write with other people, is it that you need an editor? Because I desperately need one of those myself, at least according to my ** spoiler omitted ** wife, so you're not alone.

You also might want to look up Alleynbard's Workshop of the Clockwork Gnome. I don't want to speak for him per se, but if you were to write something small for that particular campaign setting, it might get your juices flowing. Or you could write something for me, or give me an idea to use or something.

No, I've got a crap ton of editors. Including a friend who actually is a professional copy editor. No, I mean I kinda miss the actual act of creating a story. But I need someone to work with, to bounce ideas off of or I totally stagnate. I mean, it's no fun if there aren't any surprises.

The fact that they didn't specify how much makes me suspect it's in the neighborhood of $100. So I'm buying if it's McD's...

Hello. again. finally woke up. Well I was up earlier. Then went back asleep. Keep getting unavailable calls. I think I want to change my phone number.

I need to start writing again. I need to get off my butt and do anything again.

On the plus side I have had a salad for lunch. Not much of a vegetarian, you know Cherokee for poor hunter, but the doc said I need to all but be one; if that is I want to live another 10 years.

Sigh

I finally got one article done and off to the editor. Now I need to finish that Torskal article. I am having a bit of a block, so I am doing some writing exercises to help work that loose.
What kind of exercises are you doing? Because I'm stuck on the LAST PART for the Monks of Freehold, and it's getting old!!!

Mostly stream of consciousness writing. I just keep writing what pops into my head, unedited. I fill at least 3 pages of this kinds of writing. Afterwards, I take a moment to process and go do other things that have nothing to do with writing. It usually works, but if I find it does not help, I try the same exercise again.

Honestly, I used to do this exercise every morning. It really kept the flow of inspiration going by allowing me to vent all the other stuff that might get in the way of creative thought. All of those silly concerns and trivial thoughts were excised. Even major concerns got some expression, thus allowing me to slide those to the background when I needed to do some serious writing. Normally, I found I was writing some good stuff by the end of the third page.

I got lax and haven't done that in a long time. But doing it every so often does help me, at least. I highly recommend giving it a try. It is not as effective as doing it on a regular basis, but it does open the doorways to creative thought.

I've been using the 1000 X of Y thread in 3.5 above for a writing experiment, but it's resulted in me getting MORE distracted, not less. Still, there were a few good ones there. At any rate, I'll give your method a try.

Those threads are great, though I would likely find them distracting as well.

Let me know if this helps at all.

That can be rough. I have to be careful myself. My cholesterol is high for someone my age, and my father has had 2 or 3 heart attacks and he's only 58. It takes some real discipline.

I understand the need to work with someone. I am fortunate in that I have others to bounce ideas off of, even if they are not writers themselves.

Are you able to do that sort of thing over long distances? If so, maybe a few of us should consider putting together a group to do just that.

Well I have little to no discipline so we shall see.

Also just found out that my ex owes in excess of 24 thousand in back child support that I have yet to see. Sigh

Good luck. As someone who is looking at dietary changes, I can sympathize. Do a little at a time and try to build habits. Unfortunately, that is about the only advice I have. I imagine we have about the same level of discipline. ;)

Sure. Email and such work great for that sort of thing. Better than in person usually since they involve actually having to write stuff down. :)

Well, time to head off and grab some packing supplies for our move. We have started packing, which is exciting. The hard part has been deciding what we need to keep out and what we need to pack away. Already, I have opened three or four boxes looking for materials to use with my summertime campaign.

See everyone in a few hours!

This may be a good idea. My wife vacillates between too critical and too vague when it comes to her opinions(although it does help sometimes).

Hell, why don't we just make a thread for it?

So I walked out of the apartment without my keys, which I realized just as the door clicked shut behind me. So I had to call Dan and have him leave work early to pick up the kidlet. At least I was able to get the apartment manager to let me back in, just not in time to pick up Bryce. I'm feeling a bit foolish.

If it was really a sliding "bored" (and it might be) I want off right away.

So are you ...
slightly bored
bored
or
really bored?
