Taig is a cool dude, no doubt. I had a great time :)
I had a great time too. Thanks again for showing me around. Makes me wish I lived in Houston. :)
Plus I got to see HoustonBaby! She's a cutie!
Good to see that you guys were able to meet up and make a day out of it. =)

We went to one store, but they only had a couple of shelves of gaming stuffs. HD took me to Midnight Comics, which had a plethora of old gaming material, and the clerk was pretty casual about discounting books, so it wasn't a total loss. :)

Whaddya get? As for HPB, it's a hit or miss with gaming stuff depending on location and/or content. But Mairk and I go there for a lot of book genres aside from gaming stuff.

HD - would this store happen to have any Iron Kingdoms books sitting around?

A lot of random 1e/2e books and a handful of 3e books, plus a lot of books for older systems (TORG, original Traveller, Earthdawn, etc.).

There is a gaming store here in Columbus that has a lot of old stuff & discontinued stuff ... but I swear some of it has been sitting there for 10+ years and yet the guy never gives a break on the prices. Dunno how he survives.

I don't recall seeing an IK stuff at the store. As for me, I got Savage Worlds Explorer edition, the Ninja's Handbook, and Frag Gold Edition (which the guy sold to me for half price because he opened it last night and played a couple of games with his buddies at IHOP). There were many more books I could have bought, but my wife would have killed me more than once if I brought home more than I am.

I wondered the same thing about the store I went to, since they seemed to want to deal on all their old stuff. I guess they make all their money on the comic book side of things.

Midnight Comics has a "metric assload" of used stuff, and a decent collection of new stuff. Not everything they have was displayed, but they have a good selection of stuff ranging from the Seventies to last week.

Damn it I messed up the drop/add process. I make a few mistakes Wednesday, but they say they'll get it all worked out. Yesterday at 3:00, I take a look at what classes I'm enrolled in, and now I'm enrolled in the classes I was planning on taking. I get my books, go to that day's classes, etc, then around 11:00 I check again to make sure I wrote down the right room number. The problem is, between 3:00 and 11:00, I apparently got unenrolled from the classes. Now I have to go back to the registrar's office to figure out what happened so I can actually do something.

HD - if they have ANY Iron Kingdoms sitting around for sale, please check up and let me know. Do they even have a web presence?

+1 on that. I need the second book for IK, but I think that's about it.

All I own are the Monsternomicons. I just can't pay for the absurd prices I'm seeing for the IK h/c on the web.

Agreed- even the pdfs are hefty. I ran into the first book by chance at a game store in manhattan that's closed now(Neutral Ground, RIP).

Tweeter and the Monkey Man were hard up for cash
They stayed up all night selling cocaine and hash
To an undercover cop who had a sister named Jan
For reasons unexplained she loved the Monkey Man
Tweeter was a boy scout before she went to Vietnam
And found out the hard way nobody gives a damn
They knew that they found freedom just across the Jersey Line
So they hopped into a stolen car took Highway 99
And the walls came down all the way to hell
Never saw them when they're standing
Never saw them when they fell
The undercover cop never liked the Monkey Man
Even back in childhood he wanted to see him in the can
Jan got married at fourteen to a racketeer named Bill
She made secret calls to the Monkey Man from a mansion on the hill
It was out on thunder road - Tweeter at the wheel
They crashed into paradise - they could hear them tires squeal
The undercover cop pulled up and said "Everyone of you's a liar.
If you don't surrender now it's gonna go down to the wire."
And the walls came down all the way to hell
Never saw them when they're standing
Never saw them when they fell
An ambulance rolled up - a state trooper close behind
Tweeter took his gun away and messed up his mind
The undercover cop was left tied up to a tree
Near the souvenir stand by the old abandoned factory
Next day the undercover cop was hot in pursuit
He was taking the whole thing personal
He didn't care about the loot
Jan had told him many times it was you to me who taught
In Jersey anything's legal as long as you don't get caught
And the walls came down all the way to hell
Never saw them when they're standing
Never saw them when they fell
Someplace by Rahway prison they ran out of gas
The undercover cop had cornered them said "Boy, you didn't think that this could last"
Jan jumped out of bed said "There's someplace I gotta go."
She took a gun out of the drawer and said "It's best if you don't know."
The undercover cop was found face down in a field
The monkey man was on the river bridge using Tweeter as a shield
Jan said to the Monkey Man "I'm not fooled by Tweeter's curl,
I knew him long before he ever became a Jersey girl."
And the walls came down all the way to hell
Never saw them when they're standing
Never saw them when they fell
Now the town of Jersey City is quieting down again
I'm sitting in a gambling club called the Lion's Den
The TV set been blown up, every bit of it is gone
Ever since the nightly news show that the Monkey Man was on
I guess I'll to to Florida and get myself some sun
There ain't no more opportunity here, everything's been done
Sometime I think of Tweeter, sometime I think of Jan
Sometime I don't think about nothing but the Monkey Man
And the walls came down all the way to hell
Never saw them when they're standing
Never saw them when they fell

Short answer: just did. I now have a schedule (with an annoying amount of 8:00 classes, but I expected that)
Of course, now I just need to deal with my horrible past involving an incomplete in General Chemistry, and since I left all my stuff from last term at home and I don't know what two assignments he's going to want turned in, I'm going to be redoing all the homework from Chemistry over the weekend. (I could use a refresher over that stuff anyway though.)

Hi all. I'm not at work today. I've had so much stuff to get done that needs to be done during he day that I just decided to take a sick day and do it all at once. Top on the list is finally sorting out all this debit card fraud BS. Fortunately the bank gave me a provisional credit for all the money that was stolen, but there's so much paperwork...

Try Los Angeles and Brazil. Now that would take some clever arrangements...

Our used book store of choice is Black & Read. Although, we will often try to avoid it because everytime we go there, we end up poor.

Heh. Know the feeling. The woman and I went to Bob Evans last night and I asked if we could go to Barnes & Noble afterward as it was in the same strip. Ten minutes she says ... and then she picks up two books, hands me one she thinks I should get, and we walk out with a little less in the wallet. =)
