Two were on the counter because I couldn't hold 'em all. It was like molesting two Krogans.

Treppa is on the money with Godless, though I have yet to finish it. Its become "the book on the back of the toilet" for now.
I don't know the author, but he comes off as having a bit of a Jesus complex himself. It seems to be the source of most of his issues... not that he truly believes what he's saying but that he wants *YOU* to truly believe what he's saying. I'll wait for a full review when I'm done.

Why is it the other half waits 'til you're feeling crappy, then decides to say exactly the wrong thing? *sigh*
Ain't the 1st and won't be the last.
I always taunt my wife about the need for some kind of brain/mouth filter. Once I stood over her while she was just waking up, and tooled around with her pillow. She opened one eye and sardonically asked me what I was doing. I told her I was working on her brain/mouth motherboard problem and that she woke up halfway through the surgery.

KFC is yummy, I can not think of another thing that the state of Kentucky has contributed to for the betterment of mankind. The Colonel surely had a place set aside for him at the pearly gates.
Can you tell I am on lunch?
When I was a young boy growing up in the nuclear wastes of Kentucky, my best friend (my dog) and I would romph through the radioactive wastes with glee. I'd chase giant super mutant butterflys with my BB gun while the dog twitched and foamed at the mouth.
Ah, good times.

theists & atheists alike can be self serving, but it also depends on your personal viewpoints as to whether it bothers/irks you more. Not knowing really what yours and Treppa's viewpoints are, it's probably a matter of speculation (or semantics?). while I don't pose a fundamental/militant position, I think most are aware which side of the fence I straddle. :P

Yes, but, we work subtle ways to bend you to our side. We have cookies.

I'm not religious, it doesn't normally bother me if someone is... as long as they don't try to force it on me. I had a lot of that growing up, not exactly fun. I won't speak for Treppa on the matter of what she actually thinks, but she's always been pretty open minded about religion in general.
We're pretty much alike in that regard, then. =)

I trend toward secular humanism, though not completely.

The "Civil Religious Discussion" came about because someone (long ago) was bashing Christians kind of assuming that there couldn't possibly be gamers that were Christian. And then it went to "don't Christians believe this?" ... "um, no" ... and so on until we brought up that thread as kind of a "question and answer" thread. I for one have learned quite a bit through it. I kind of feel like it's been kind of a "godsend".
While we're talking about it, what is this "godless" thing you're talking about. I must have missed something earlier.

Godless is a book written by Dan Barker, a former evangelist preacher who has become an atheist radio show host on the Air America I think it is. Its the story of his "unconversion"... its different.

I'm of the opinion that being religious and being spiritual are two different things; one can attend services and feel or not feel a close tie to the metaphysical but you don't have to be a regular church goer to get that.
Besides, I know for a fact that there are reiligous 'posers' out there. My grandfather on my dads side was one of them. He gave a lot of money to the church and to charity (probably thinking he could buy his way into the 'right' side of the afterlife) but shafted my mom and I by declaring in his will that my dad had to outlive his mom in order for us to inherit. Well, grandmas still alive and dad isn't; he died two weeks after my grandfather while going through the after effects of his dad's funeral while still in Albuquerque.
The company he worked for screwed us ove and we got only half the pension even though he was a month away to retirement.
Fortunately, shortly after, [divine] fate interceded and my mom and I got set up with a kind hearted lady in social services that set us up to collect his [insert the type of money you get after putting it into the suytem for your twilight years]. I can never remember the name of it.

So now he's an evangelical atheist? I'll have to check it out.
By the way...

If "its" is possesive,
it's only i t s,
but if "it's" is a contraction,
it's i t ' s.

Likewise. When I get a chance, there's a reader application for FB that I'm going to install that will indicate what books I have, what I've read, what I haven't read, and what I'm wanting to read. We may have similar reading tastes.
EDIT: and I get TOTP for that.
