With the release of the Cavalier, Oracle, Witch, and Summoner came some more fantastic sketches from Wayne Reynolds. Is anyone else as excited as me to find out more about these characters?

Will these sketches be fully realized into new Iconics in the future? And if so, will they get mini backstories like the Pathfinder Iconics?

I'm a huge fan of the Pathfinder Iconics, and I can't wait to see them join the likes of Valeros, Seoni, and the rest of the gang.

Which of the sketches is your favorite? Which do you want to find out more about? I'm personally interested in learning about the Witch.

I'm near positive that witch is going to steal fans from the Seoni fanboys club.

Yeah, that would be awesome!!!! Also, any chance we'll be seeing them as pregenerated characters in some far off AP or Module?/??

I was never much for the Seoni club, but the witch is in the running to lure me from the ranks of the Kyra fanboys.

Give me Merisiel... the witch is my new #2

I am looking forward to seeing them all in full color. I am thinking the Inqis is going to be the half orc.

Yeah and a some-nonhuman female for alchemist.

Maybe half-elf.

Actually, why not a half-orc alchemist? A sickly and butt ugly half-orc trying to improve his physical appearance and prowess through alchemy?

...or a half-orc who has been horribly scarred by his failed alchemy attempts and accidents. Wayne Reynolds artwork is nearly perfect.

I think the summoner is really hot.

You sick, sick man. I had a guy play a half-orc once with a gnome fetish...just wrong

The little gnome summoner looks a little unhinged. I hope we get backstories and stats for these guys.

We will, but not for many many months apparently.

They've already said they'll get backgrounds the same as the first 12 iconics did (though Valeros, Seoni, and Merisiel have much less backstory than the rest of them, being the first three and all). We already know that the witch iconic is from Tian Xia but have no further information on the rest. I don't know if the timeline for their release is dependent more on the completion of the playtests (and thus the ability to pinpoint what an iconic can and can't do) or Wayne Reynolds's final, colored art. I hope its whichever gives us a name and backstory for one of them the soonest.

I thought James Jacobs said they were not going to expand much on this second wave of iconics.

Scroll down.

We'll be doing up the backstories for all six of the iconics after we get in the final art. In fact, that's when we'll be showing OFF the final art. It'll probably not happen until some time after the playtests close though. Seems to me that these would be a pretty cool way to maintain excitement and hype in the trough/doldrums between the end of the Playtest and the release of the book, actually...

Well, there can be two waves of previews. One for the art and backstories and one closer to release previewing a sample statblock for each, similar to how Jason showed off the core classes this summer. Anything to get backstories on these guys sooner! ;-)

Seconded!

And the Iconics are a great way to keep up interest in the classes before the book comes out. Seeing art of Karzoug and Valeros is what drew me into Pathfinder in the first place.

Until get gets a real name I am going to refer to the gnome summoner as "Chumley". :)

I'm hereby starting a petition to make "Chumley" the official name of the Gnome Summoner iconic.

Post if you vote yes to this!

The Eidolon could also be named Chumley, which would be a nice reference to the imp familiar James Sutter portrayed at the PaizoCon interactive this year.

we demand a female Inquisitor! :)

no, seriously, she would be hot :P

Montalve, I heard your name referenced on a podcast today, but the person in question pronounced it differently than I always have in my head. I always rhymed it with "Vo-la-re..." And yes, I sometimes sang it as I posted. Please advise. M.

Dark Archive

I heard Strength is going to be an important stat...

So Paizo made this chick the iconic...

You could have backstories for the new iconics be one of the RPG Superstar challenges!

We need an emo-chick to go along with the emo-prettyboy that's already an iconic. :)

Wes said at PaizoCon that the two of them were perhaps the least compatible of the Iconics, despite their shared elven heritage. Perhaps Seltyiel would get along better with another half-breed outcast, though.

You never heard VOLARE?

If I've learned anything in recent weeks, it's that stabby doesn't count unless it's accompanied with an equivalent blasty.

I always thought Seltyel would take more of a shining to Valeros to be honest...
