Guess I'm screwed then, since I'm already back at work today.

So am I, but I'll be off for the weekend, and I hope the same's true for you.

I have to admit, though, the Inquisitor is the one I'm really eager to get a look at. :)

They all sound interesting, but the ones I'm most eager to see are Summoner and Witch. The Summoner just sounds cool.

As for the Witch, I'm wondering if that will be PF's version of the Warlock, or something completely different. Either way, that "Cackle" ability previously mentioned sounds kick-ass.

Well, given that male Witches will be possible/expected, I'd assume that the concept would have to be able to translate that way. Whether or not it'll look anything like the Warlock of old, I can't say, but I'd be willing to guess it won't.

You pick your first post ever here to reply to me? I'm flattered. Welcome to the asylum! Keep your soul away from Sebastian. He bites.

Yeah! "Let's go to work! While those unemployed guys, or those who took the day off, or those who don't have to care about computer security and access to non-work stuff and that stuff can enjoy this right away, I get to torture myself over some work stuff all day."

Good thing this stuff comes out in the evening here ;-).

The witch is NOT our version of the warlock. They're separate classes. A male witch is still a witch (just as a female sorcerer is still a sorcerer, not a sorceress).

This RL male Witch wishes to thank you for clearing up the confusion about Witches and Warlocks. I get very tired of trying to explain that they are two separate beings.

It's all the same, and it's all different. Mostly, what you do and don't call a specific magic user is as much personal preference as anything else.

For example, the word enchanter refers to all sorts of wizards, but in Pathfinder, it's a wizard specialisation that uses enchantments (i.e. spells that mess with other people's minds and emotions and all that)

And isn't a male witch a witcher, or does that only apply to male witches who are renowned for their promiscuity and being called after (relatively) famous roleplaying companies? ;-)

So...James, what else does the Witch have? Besides the Cackle? Come on, you can tell me! I promise I won't say a word....

What's it got in its pocketssss....

This other RL male Witch would like to point out that there are Wicca and Wicce, but no witchers. In the language of less gender-specific nouns, both men and women are witches. Warlocks are not the same (ask the Asatruar about that, there's a lot of argument over what Warlock happens to mean between Asatruar and Witches, and it's technically their term).

Understanding full well in advance that the portrayal in a game will not be analogous to what real witches do/believe, I'm glad that at least the name is going to be consistent with reality.

For the record ;) all are Anglo saxon terms.

Wicca (Wee cha)= Male witch
Wicce (Wee chi)= Female witch

Warlock = Oath breaker, although I would have to find the original form, it's spelt differently, as Warlock is a modern form.

well, its almost show time

I know it's silly...but I'm dying to see if the sketches are as good as the last ones.

So what....probably about sixteen hours to go ?

The Exchange

Now I just need the PFS v2.1 rules to be released so that I can make myself a Summoner for that (as that is currently my only Pathfinder fix).

So James said that 3 of the new Iconics are human, 3 are non-human, 3 male, 3 female. One of the new iconics will be a half orc.

We've seen 2 human iconics, male and female. So that leaves 1 human left and the half orc. So what are the other 2 races and which classes are they?

Hey Dennis,

If I had to guess I'd say a male gnome for Alchemist.

(I'm also going to agree with others about the Inquisitor being a half-orc.)

And maybe the third... and I'm guessing the Summoner perhaps... a half-elf and female... since we don't really have an iconic half-elf... I know, I know... Seltyiel... but he's more like a PrC iconic really.

Okay... here endth my speculations.

And I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.

Oh... I forgot... I had seen somewhere (and I think it was James Jacobs that said this) the witch will have an oriental look... to evoke a Tian Xia woman.

An oriental look? Hmm... an oriental halfling? Would be a curious thing ;)

http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?search=warlock&searchmode=none

"Original primary sense seems to have been "oath-breaker;" given special application to the devil (c.1000), "

"Meaning "one in league with the devil" is recorded from c.1300. Ending in -ck and meaning "male equivalent of witch" (1568) are from Scottish. "

So it did mean "oath breaker", but really only in a proper noun sense as in "Satan - The Oath Breaker". It then evolved into others associated with "The Oath Breaker".

Big earth golem type things can be outsiders, of course...

The class is VERY customizable. I'm pretty sure folks will be VERY pleased with what you'll be able to do with it. It's pretty nifty!

Sounds like anything from zapping a demon into the room, to binding a spirit/entity to a construct.

Can't wait to see it, and to see how Witches differ from Oracles other than Arcane vs. Devine caster classes.

They are. In fact, the cavalier is my least favorite of the six, and he's still pretty awesome.

lol Well Technically it's Monday the 30th... Where is it? j/k

Dark Archive

i take it these wont be out till tomorrow morning like before... ah well. I got work in the morning and was hopping to be able to read through them before work, think about them at work, then post thoughts about them after...

(grumbles) darn work and the need for money...getting in the way of my gaming...arggmmmm...(mumbles)

By Haelyn's Hoary Head, where be the summoners and witches and such?!

Does anyone know what time it will be released?

It isn't even Monday yet at Paizo; they're in Pacific time zone, so it's currently about 10:45 PM on Sunday there.

Jason or James said earlier that the Witch and Summoner would be released "in the morning" on Monday, but that can be up to ~13 hours from now.

Dark Archive

It would be nice if they posted them at midnight, but as mentioned the last beta stuff was posted later in the day around noon or so their time. Jason mentioned in several of his Facebook posts and a few other places that he was working on finalizing the previews just before the holiday. Whether that means it will be posted early I don't know, but it would be nice. Really looking forward to seeing these two classes.

Just to prevent heart palpitations...

I need to make a few tweaks to the class when I get in tomorrow morning. The next round will begin shortly after I am done.

NO!!!! It's because of the turkey isn't?! It's tricksy it is. It seems so harmless and then it makes you sleepy, yes it does.

Oh well, guess I'll have to play Dragon Age when I get home from work until it's ready. But no Dragan Age for you Jason until you're done and stop eating turkey leftovers! ;-)

Dennis da Ogre wrote:

The witch is going to be a Tian woman, that being the only unrepresented human ethnicity at the moment.

So sayeth James Jacobs.

Sneak peak at the character art? Yes please? :D

Damn you time zones! /Shakes fist in anger!

I guess Paizo can be happy they have a eager community such as this where we actually make hype threads for the pre-release of classes all by ourselves :D

Iliyan wrote:

Agree.

I really hope Jason's minor tweaks doesn't delay the next round too long. I am really looking forward to a decent Witch class (since AD&D 2 actually).

You're an hour early on your guess.

I'm central and they're two hours behind me.

While it's true the witch iconic is going to represent the Tian ethnicity, that's not the only one not covered by the existing iconics. There's currently no Mwangi, Azlanti, or Ulfen iconic and it's not clear whether anyone qualifies as Chelaxian, either. I'd guess that Ezren and Valeros are Taldan, but one of them could be an ethnic Chelaxian.

now what am I going to do at work this morning? jeez

Too bad, I'd have preferred the witch to be one of the "caucasian" races. Well...

Can we know the iconic witch's name while we wait for the pdf?
