Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Dark Archive

A round of welcomes for Matthew Lund if you please.

Afterwhich the verbal abuse, unrealistic demands, and beatings with gusto {TM} can commence. Remember, grognards get first lash.

Spoiler:
So far this gentleman is the only guy in roleplaying with more shelfspace than books.

Anything gone wrong yet that we can blame on him?

How about mistakes from before he was hired? Any as-yet-unassigned blame?

Welcome to Paizo, Matthew--Hope you survive the experience!

Wow. I see they spent almost as much on that computer as I spent on the PFRPG core rulebook!

BTW minkscooter: for starters, I've finally given up on silently letting you have dibs on MY ICON DAMMIT, we'll have to share from here on out. ;) Secondly, I've had this burning curiosity since I first came to these forums... if a space were inserted into your name, would it be before or after the 's'?

Hear, here!! All hail the newest Paizonian!

Yes, it links to the entire blog page, not the specific blog. Try it again and you'll see that it's already stale.

Spoiler:
It's before the 's'. Parsing otherwise is unfortunate and never occurred to me. Oh well, you can read about the origin of the anagram here. I created this name a long time ago in all innocence and now I'm quite attached to it.

Thanks for sharing your icon. You should visit The Celestial Sett of the Badgers.

So funny...so horribly, terribly funny.

DM can of course disallow anything he does not feel is appropriate for the game.

With that said a continuous item with a level 1 spell effect cast at level 1 power wether it is SHIELD spell or Expeditious Retreat is within the guildlines of the rules.

The cost for either of these based on the fact the spells have a 1 min duration per level is.
Spell level x Caster level x 2000 x (duration of spell modifier)

1x1x2000x2 or 4000

Yes it can be created at a caster level of 1 however he would need to be at least 3rd level to have the feat Craft wondrous items.

So boots of expeditious retreat by the book have a value of 4k (and I consider it 4k well spent). Any other price like the 30k or so listed earlier would be a HOUSE rule (which of course any DM could make).

A bracer of Shield would also cost 4k by the book and provides a "shield" bonus, not a "deflection" or an "armor" bonus thus it will not stack with a mithril or darkwood buckler.

And before someone tries to show an at will truestrike item for +20 on all attacks is that price you are wrong.

A Quickened true strike item would allow you to get a +20 on 1 attack a round at a cost of: 5x9x2000 or 90k (Quickend true strike is a 5th level spell thus a minimum 9th level caster).

I personally as an DM or as a player do not find any of the three items I mentioned to be unbalancing at there cost.

I'm doing a preemptive blame for the next time we don't get a post in the daily blog!

*commences finger pointing*

Lantern Lodge

Me: paizo seems to be a decent company to work for.
Cosmo: <laughs>
Me: Well, there isn't slave labor.... maybe indentured servants....
Cosmo: Yes, we like to call them "interns"

Have fun writing blog posts!!

How is it that this topic escaped my eyes for so long?

Thanks for the welcomes, guys. It sure is good to be here!

As to my "natural blogger" state, I may have dabbled... for a few years...

>_>

Everybody, welcome Sara as well to the customer service team. :)

Hi Matthew. I enjoyed your blog and I look forward to reading more about your experience with the awesome folks at Paizo.

~proceeds to abuse the new interns~ I would abuse Sara, but she has real power. I do not want to recieve a Bella Sara plushie, so I will not offend Sara. COSMO on the other hand is fair game.

Welcome to Paizo, Matt and Tyler. Here is hoping that you survive the experience. ~proceeds to whip the interns some more~

Welcome, Matt and Sara! :)

Get that man some books!

I feel like BAH was cuing me in some way.

Welcome on board, Matt. I'm sure you have lots of ideas for sneaking us new preview illustrations that are large.

Who's Tyler?

*Fanfare*

Tyler Clark: the musical.

I see now that Matt is empty desk blog and Tyler is funny coffee illustration blog. Welcome, Tyler.

Matt, this puts you behind in the Great Intern Race. Better start finding those preview pics fast, man. Make 'em big; make 'em beautiful.

EDIT: Matt, you're quick on your feet, but I have no idea what you are linking to.

Don't you? It's the paizo homepage of course.

As far as preview pics, don't tempt me to tell you what they could be of and then not share. That would be too deviously rewarding.

And anyone who claims this is foul play:

You've been threating to blackmail and beat us! You've set up an unequal power dichotomy! What did you expect?

:)

Missed the fact that there was another intern:

Welcome to Paizo, Tyler!

Holding preview art ransom is strictly prohibited. In fact, less than three substantive previews a week is the sign of slacking interns. You wanna get paid eventually, right?

You've been regrettably lead to some dubious deductions, my internorial friend. Da fans are da real bosses. Now, make wit da art, and nos interns get mussed over in a most thorough and deliberate fashion of our devising.
