awwww, but it's fun poking the T-rex, seeing who's too slow and gets eaten :D
AAAHHHH!! IT BIT OFF MY ARM! AIEEEEE!!!
20 minutes later after running away like a little girl (but with minimal screaming)...
Huff...Puff.... *Slowly pulls glowing red sword out of the fire and apply the heat directly to the cloth poultice, igniting the cloth in searing flames and reducing it to ash as I cauterize the wound, screaming in agony...*
20 minutes later.....
Dude... I survived getting bit by a T-Rex... I'm awesome!!! Now to see about getting a cybernetic prosthetic with a built in laser cannon...
*casts Baleful Polymorph, turning Kyrt into a landshark*
Look ma... I made a landshark with a freekin' lazer beam!!!

Question: Why does my "tag" only include Chronicles and Roleplaying Game?
You are a Chronicles "Superscriber", that includes subscriptions to the Adventure Path, Chronicles, Companion, and Modules line, if I remeber correctly.

What happened to Snakes [Vipers/Serpents], there gone! And the Howler!
As has been said in countless threads, some monster in the SRD were left out for two reasons:
1) Copyright (11 or so things like Beholder)
2) Space (more than 11; expect to see them possibly in Bestiary II)
As for the size of the book and why it isn't 500 pages, I like (prefer) the idea of a Bestiary II, Bestiary II coming out. I'd prefer these to have interesting monsters instead of WotC format of "MM4 and MM5 need to have page count, dream up a 100 new mobs today so we can ship this. If we get a Bestiary once a year that mostly has mobs from the Adventure paths in one place and maybe a few from other sources, that is a good thing.

So, the business model the OP is suggesting is to go bankrupt producing an absolutely all-inclusive pair of core books, then go out of business because they literally have nothing else to publish?
I'm happy with a 320-page monster book, thanks. Especially since I'm one of those people who actually has to budget money and would prefer not to have every book I buy cost as much as a week's groceries ....

Why? because when you buy something entitled "Adventure Path" one might make the assumption that that'll be exactly what they're going to get. However this is not quite the case.
Or they might actually read the promotional materials since after all what IS an Adventure Path? considering Paizo pretty defined the term and the format is largely unchanged from go it's hard to think people would expect something other than what they get.

First of all, thanks to Paizo for what they did with D&D, I can finally like the system!
Secondly, Stu, how do you think a publishing company works? They need a cash-cow. And the way I understand James, he states that he hopes to sell a lot of APs, cause that is where the money to keep PF alive comes from. APs are the cash-cow... so what? It's a pretty multihued cow, isn't it. AP 1 and 2 are awesome, I GM CotCT myself. And best of all they are downward compatible with 3.5.
So the Beastiary doesn't contain all Monsters ever published, big deal. Either you don't know the Monsters (in case you don't have the APs) or you have the APs (then you got the Monsters, too).
There's always room for improvement. Paizo saved and evolved a good RPG, as opposed to other publishers, who "play" you more blatantly IMHO.

No, I didn't say anything about changing the Companion line, the Chronicles line or The Modules line. I did say I'd like AP only stuff in the AP's; and then all the current monsters from the AP's [which have already got artwork and info] included in the first Bestiary.
Maybe it is too much to ask, but I asked.

It's problematic: The book would be bigger, which would mean it would cost more. Not everyone will want to buy the bigger book (especially those who already have those monsters in the APs), so you sell less books, which drives costs up.
And though the monsters are there, they would have to be converted to the new rules. Though you and me can get away with using a 3e monster with only on the fly changes, you cannot pull that sort of thing in a published work you want people to give you money for.
And the information we get in the APs is specific to Golarion, which means they'd have to clean it up.
So it would have meant more work, taking more time, costing more money.
In fact, I think I wouldn't want a bestiary with (m)any AP critters. If they want to compile them, they should make it a "AP Monster Compendium", which would probably be a Chronicles product, chock-full of Golarion info.

I can't believe you aren't backing down on this.Look, I make a living by charging money for what I do. I want people pay for my services, but I also want my services to be worth what is paid, and if I could get more money by providing those services more frequently or creatively, I would.
No, I disagree. You are suggesting that paizo is making a chump of us all, and that my quote agrees with you. It doesn't; I am saying that I would like it if my clients would pay for additional services because they want them, and that paizo appears to be doing the same.
