Huergar moves straight toward the main body of the creature.
It takes 1 round to move 20 feet. On the following round, he attacks with his axe (standard action after 10' move).
EDIT: Forgot the luck effect from Fluffy, so here's an alternate attack roll: 1d20+18=24 (well, the first was better anyway). If Huergar or Fluffy is attacked by the tentacle in round 1, use the above attack against the tentacle instead.

Kara's shortbow does allow her to shoot and hit with the first shot only.. Huergar will wait until next round, and I will keep the current roll.
The first shot fired by the lithe halfling arcs over everyone, and strikes the creature, while the second shot whizzes into the bush, and you hear it clatter far away.
Corvax, Jasper? Waiting until tuesday morning for the next post.

Corvax Schultheiss |

If the surface of the branch is steady enough underfoot Corvax will charge the source of the tentacles, crashing into it and hacking away with his axe. Otherwise he follows huergar and attacks next round.
Charge
Attack 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28 Damage 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 + (if evil) 2d6 ⇒ (1, 5) = 6

Finrod Moruin |

Seeing the enemy revealed, Finrod's eyes take on a feverish gleam as he draws and aims at the monster's core. [Rapid shot]
Shot 1 Attack roll: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 31 for 1d8 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 4 + (6) = 16 damage.
Shot 2 Attack roll: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18 for 1d8 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 4 + (5) = 14 damage.
Shot 3 Attack roll: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22 for 1d8 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 4 + (3) = 8 damage.

If the surface of the branch is steady enough underfoot Corvax will charge ...
I liked it better when Balance was a skill separate from Tumbling. I would have given Huergar ranks in Balance, but it feels wrong giving him Acrobatics when he has a hard enough time just walking, let alone jumping or God forbid flipping (in full plate). Hopefully his dwarven Stability trait will come in handy here, although you'll notice I didn't push my luck by charging or even taking a double move. Slow and steady. Salad is on the menu :)

Jasper Krail |

Jasper harmonizes with Kara as he draws his whip and makes one attempt to connect with the foe.
Inspire Courage: +2 to allies' attack and damage rolls and saves against fear until 5 rounds after stopping the singing
Perform (Tenor): 1d20 + 9 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 9 + 6 = 34
Whip: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 8 + 2 = 30
His harmonizing begins to crescendo as Jasper's whip strikes its mark, a crackle in the air as electricity courses through its length.
Whip damage: (nonlethal) 1d3 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (3) - 1 + 2 = 4 + (electricity) 1d6 ⇒ 2
To confirm critical: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 8 + 2 = 29

Frederick 'Fluffy' Thistledown |

I'm going to be out of commission for a few days and won't be able to access the web. Fluffy will try to stay out of trouble, and next chance he gets to act, he will use one of his daily uses of Channel Energy in the hope that, even though it restores a fairly minor number of HPs, it will stop Sir Basil's wound from bleeding
It will restore 2d6 ⇒ (3, 6) = 9 HP to anyone who is hurt

Yeah, I am mildly worried that Corvax is going to slip on a leaf or something and disappear off the edge of the branch with a slightly surprised look on his face.
But I also can't really picture Corvax hanging back and taking the sensible approach. Just not really his style.
Exactly. I think there should be a paladin class ability that rewards that kind of behavior (until the paladin disappears off the edge with a surprised look on his face, that is). Maybe it could be called Caution to the Wind, a way to risk personal safety in return for extra hero points (enabling ever more dramatic risks).
Motivated by the central formative event in his background, Huergar obtained a Ring of Feather Falling so he would never have to worry about falling again.
EDIT: Pardon the meta-game commentary. Thanks Jasper and Fluffy for the boosts!

This is the post I did not want to make. I really wanted to keep going with this. However, between some personal problems (let alone the computer hating me), I will not be able to continue this adventure further.
I'm trying to thin down my computer time for a period of time. I wish I could say that I could save this game, but given what I'm limiting myself to, I can't. Some of this comes from personal things, the rest is coming from the fact the computer keeps frying itself on me, and I can't very well type this out while the computer is burning up.
To all, I'm sorry. This has been a great nine months, but I can't keep failing you all and trying to provide a good story and keep it moving with so little time to afford.
What's sad is I'm losing both my PbP games mostly over the computer issues, and I wish it weren't so :( I asked for the courtesy of knowing when you left, and I'm affording the same one to you all. Once everything's well again, I will try this campaign again, and you all will have first dibs if you would like them.
Signed,
the very sad Darkmeer

I have posted this over in the other PbP as well...
If you want me to look you up, go ahead and email me. The biggest hurdle here is the computer. The personal time is getting crunched due to processing speed lowering with heat. I have ethernet (cable), and it takes more than 3 minutes to load ANYTHING I'm working on at the moment (and maps just fry the computer, let alone opening any of my conversions for the adventures). So, once this gets sorted out and I can find a way to fix it, I'll be back, probably just down to one PbP, and I'll fix all the maps beforehand (so that I don't have the map problem).
I really have had a great time with everyone, and if I can get everything together again (probably after Gencon/mid-fall-ish the way it looks now), I will be glad to recruit from a stable of wonderful players to have around.
The adventures will likely be smaller, shorter, and "episodic" in nature, with past history coming into it when appropriate, but allowing for everyone to leave if they get bored with me :P
Let me know if you are interested via email (it's in the profile), and when I get back and everything's cleared up, I will email you.
