I have two questions. (I think a remember seeing the answers in another thread, but it wasn't a thread dedicated specifically to PFRPG subscription questions, and I'm too lazy to track it down.)
1) What products other than the Core Rules, Bestiary, and GM Guide will be covered by the PFRPG subscription?
2) How large a discount off of cover prices will PFRPG subscribers receive, if any?

Eric said Everything Here From August Onwards....
Don't know on the discount, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Pathfinder Advantage move to the RGP subscription, and the APs get just a basic 15% discount.....

I certainly hope not. If I commit to buy something, site unseen on a monthly basis, I'd much prefer to get 30% off that than to get it off something I will only be buying every four months. Granted, the regularity of products in the late summer/early fall of this year might warrant a larger discount, but in general, I want my largest discount to come off the item I'm buying most often.

I agree and I don't think they will change it. I would guess only the hardcore junkies like myself will subscribe to the RPG stuff. A lot of players would like to look through the GM books and bestiaries and not buy them. I for one would be disappointed if the changed it.

Sorry, I'll rephrase as I seem to have miss-remembered my discounts!
I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the Pathfinder Advantage move to the RPG subscription, and the APs just go to being the basic discount they get now.....
I think the Advantage (i.e. the 15% off everything in store etc etc) fits more on the RPG line, let a lone the name....I don't see them Upping the cost of the AP to subscribers at this point.....That would be silly!

I think the Pathfinder Advantage will go where it will draw the most customers, which is to say 'stay where it is'. Yes, the PFRPG will have a lot of subscribers, but I think it will only be a fraction of the AP subscribers.
Of course, I could be wrong. In which case it wold make sense to move it, but I really don't see it happening.
Either way I'm good, since I'll be subscribing to both anyway.

I imagine the discount will be what it is now, which isn't 30%.
Unfortunately Paizo has to watch how well they treat us, since they don't want to cut their own throats with retailers. Maybe they could get away with giving us a temporary "dedicated customer appreciation discount" at 30% for 30 to 60 days on the PFRPG, but to make it something like 30% permanently? I would be pleasantly shocked to see that happen.

I'm most interested in knowing whether or not purchasing the RPG core book through Paizo will net me a .pdf or if I'll just wind up getting the rules. I can get the rulebook through the bookstore I work at for 25% off without paying shipping, but I'd very much like the .pdf of the rules to reference as well.

Pretty sure they said (somewhere) that a subscription will include PDFs. Most likely if you just buy the book from the Paizo store it will not include a PDF. Same as the APs and modules now.

Relax, grasshopper. Open your mind to the universe. Let time flow. If Sox fans can wait 86 years for a championship we can wait for this afternoon.

At the PaizoCon announcement, Erik said that all products purchased through a subscription would come with a free pdf.

It is always afternoon somewhere. :)

I don't recall Erik mentioning there will be a discount on rule subscriptions. The big advantage of the subscription is the free PDFs that come with the items. The items in the subscription will be:
PfRPG rulebook
Beastiary
DM Screen
Game Mastery Guide
The Game Mastery Guide will have all sorts of wisdom on running the game, lots of stat blocks for specific creatures (For example they mentioned there would be a series of 'cultist' stat blocks.)
I think the sub is worth it for the PDFs alone though I really don't use a DM screen so that's kind of a bummer that it's in the middle of that.
My favorite thing about the PDFs is that when I run a game I will be able to print out the individual pages from the Beastiary for easy reference.

I think you're right Dennis, and I'm going to be loving the PDF printable monsters too ... except it's Bestiary!

Hmmm, I have a concern about shipping. I'm going to want my PFRPG pretty much NOW. but the only options available are
Hold everything and ship with the AP.
Hold everything and ship once a month.
Or Hold nothing and pay lots and lots of shipping fees.
I'd like to exclude my PFRPG subscription from holding while still paying minimal shipping fees for everything else. Think something like this could be possible? Say a 'Hold' option for each individual subscription line?
I mean imagine my misery if AP #25 ships before the 13th.. I'd be stuck waiting for #26 in September! Not a fun kind of anticipation. :(

I think what we're going to do is make the system figure out what must ship via Priority Mail (the core rulebook) and split everything else out into a Standard Postal Delivery package (if that's actually cheaper). That code hasn't been written yet, but when it gets rolled out you should see the shipping price drop.

So, if I subscribe to the RPG line, I'll get a PDF of the book. If it's like any other Paizo Subscription, it seems that I could subscribe just for the core book (and maybe Bestiary), then cancel my subscription, netting me the PDFs without continuing fees. Is that right?
Yup (but I'd stick around for the DM screen too. And then, that DM Tips and Tricks book in Feb looks fun....and, Oh S~~!.)

Yes, this is correct. We'll hope you stick around for the other stuff, but you are free to cancel your subscription at any time.

Hi Erik.
What about those (like me) who preordered several copies of the PRPG and Bestiary for gamer friends, before the announcement of this subscription? Are we (all) out of luck? (i.e. no PDF and/or no transferable subscription) It appears that something should be worked out (perhaps a discount code or something) so that our gaming gang can then get the PDFs for the PRPGs/Bestiaries we bought. I noticed that half of the table (who had preordered with me) seemed disappointed at these news, and the other half (who had not preordered) were like "yay! I'm rewarded for my mercenary wait-and-see attitude!" :P
I'd appreciate any thoughts you have on this.
Cheers!
