I too look forward to this book, I really thought I would stick with 3.5 and my house rules until I read the beta.

Well they did a rather excellent job of making the a game better I really thought was dang good to start with.

To me Pathfinder is the next edition of D&D. I've been playing since the '70s and I am just as hooked as ever thanks to Pathfinder.

Liberty's Edge

If it's off to the printers when will it be available for purchase! :)

Is off to printers? I DO THE DANCE OF JOY!

And there goes my order for the core book. :)

I'll order another one next month, so I have at least two sitting around.

Now I just have to wait to get the first one so I can convert my current game over.

There are lots of pictures available through the Twitter feed. Don't Twitter? What generation are you from?

...ok, I don't twitter but my daughter does so I'm trying.

You can keep up with the pics here and not twitterpate. I suggest we make a thread so we can discuss pictures posted there, for those of us who do not want to subscribe.

Weary is an alternate saying, about 20% as common as wicked. (per google search)

Congratulations Jason and all the rest!!!

Scarab Sages

Eh, he counts either way. He is a weary wicked writer (or wicked weary, if you are in Maine).

(Seriously, super-big congrats, Jason!!)

Paizo Employee Director of Game Design

Thanks everybody, I really do appreciate it.

This herculean project would not have been possible without the dedication of the playtesters and fans.

And Lisa.. I know.. no rest for me (and I am quite wicked and weary).

Thank you Jason and the rest of the Paizo folks for doing this. ~wicked grin~ Yes, it was sort of a matter of survival, but I for one appreciate all the effort put into the PF RPG!!! ~cracks the whip~ Now back to work, SLAVES!!! ~crack~

P.S. - Jason, you did REAL good and I am proud of you! Now go have another beer. You deserve it.

576 pages?!?! Is that necessary??

Jason Beardsley wrote:

Well, I personally wanted 756 pages, but I have a feeling that the people over at Paizo would kill me if I requested that amount.

Liberty's Edge

OMG - I did it!
I ordered it with huge shipping costs...

Euphoria took me!

YEAH, ITS OFF TO THE PRINTER!!!

Jason for president!!!

And I so hope to get a pdf with it as well...

Jason Beardsley wrote:

I bet there's not one unnecessary page...

And I love the aged parchment look of the page edges.

On the contrary, I'm sure there are several necessary pages they couldn't fit in the binding. Necessary being in the eye of the rabid rule fan.

Yep. There is hardly a wasted page in this book. And for once, you have all the rules you need to run the game in one volume. Something I wish was done a long, long time ago.

You aren't hinting that you think that the Rabbit rules were dropped are you? If that is the case I am so banning that book from my table!

Exactly! (Wipes foam from around his mouth.)

Holy Crap! I didn't expect you to respond! But, if Lisa says it's necessary, then it must be so! Okay.. You've convinced me..

I didn't expect that. But it makes sense: Paizo does sound Spanish, now that I think about it.

If you're in maine, 500 odd pages are nothing. I could kill people with my Stand, and it's a softcover.

So how many pages are dedicated to the dedications? :)

It's Ancient Greek, actually, and it means "I play".

Will there be eventually a player only version of the book?

I know my players, and even though I can hardly wait for the book to arrive, I know that they are very hesitant to spend so much money, if quite some parts of the books aim at DMs and not players.

I know it is actually AG, but they didn't have an unexpected inquisition.

You know, I got a graduate degree in Classical philosophy, but I didn't recognize the brand name for what it was until a Dungeon editorial told me so. Thing is, people usually utilize accentuation for transliteration of Ancient Greek to differentiate (e.g.) omikrons from omegas - as in paizô - and I attribute my blind spot to that.

Liberty's Edge

Excellent!
Now I can't wait to have it!
Spoilers Please :P

OK, I guess you're serious about this Pathfinder thing so I pre-ordered my copies... ;)

Spoiler:
WOO HOO!

Germans are fine when it comes to Ancient Greek...as long as you don't let them tell you how to pronounce it.

So...I'm just waiting on a certain subscription announcement...which I know is coming any day now...

Does this mean it's too late to send you my 312 page thesis and playtest report on how broken the Jump spell is? At high levels, it results in two sets of characters: those with god-like powers and those without. It needs to be changed.

Assuming you caught that one minor (but extremely important) issue, CONGRATULATIONS!

WOOT!

DING LEVEL-UP! PAIZO HAS JUST PASSED WIZARDS IN LEVEL!!!

Haha...

576...awesome!

It's actually worse - have you ever heard a Brit speak Classical Greek (or Latin for that matter)? If you haven't, here's a primer on how they pronounce the proper names.

I'm signed up to be a tier one judge for Gencon and I'll be expecting a truck to pull up to my house with just that photocopy on it, judging by the size shown in the picture. :-P

Wow, that's one huge book. I can't wait to get all my copies; judge stuff as well as prepaid orders.
