Liberty's Edge

With the door shut, the bats aren't going to be able to get out. There may be a handful that either have flapped out, but individually they aren't a threat. If you keep the door closed we can drop back out of initiative.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Thel comes over to the door, looking it over. "I guess I missed all the excitement then..."

Liberty's Edge

I know stuff has quieted down with it being a holiday this weekend for anyone over in the states. Just waiting for you guys with the swarm stuck on the other side of the door.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

does someone have any oil we could open the door, throw it in with a torch and burn the bats?

we have have a holiday in the uk too!

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Scratching his jaw while talking. "Bats don't really like light. If we could get some light in there, maybe we could drive them out, and we'd be able to get inside there," looking to the spellcasters.

"If we can't drive off these creatures, perhaps we should continue our exploration?"

"I am interested in what appeared to be a shrine. The pool, and what we may have heard there."

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

the above post should've been Kolgun

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Bengal stays off to the side while they talk, running her fingers through her hair, trying to get the feeling of the bats off her. She shudders slightly. Bats were definitely not to her liking.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

i agree with kolgun, let us continue

Male Gnome Wizard-1

"Kolgun is right, we shouldn't waste time with flying rats when we're already doing so looking for someone who went and got kidnapped. One distraction is quite enough. Now, lets hurry on and find who we are looking for and be done with it."

Liberty's Edge

We've gone a bit quiet here. Are you guys planning on moving over towards the fountain then? I'm just waiting for you to set a firm direction and move your characters that way.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

let us go towards the fountain

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Bengal thinks for a moment, "The fountain by the entrance, right?"

Heads back towards the stairs leading down to the fountain.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

above should have been Thel... oops :P

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun follows behind Thel to the landing above the stairs.

Liberty's Edge

As you get back to the main stairway and move down towards the fountain, you guys can go ahead and make survival checks for me.

Survival DC 15

Spoiler:
You notice that there are some footprints on the stone of this floor that seem to lead away from the fountain towards the hallway along the southern wall before they fade away.

They must be pretty recent because rather then being made in dust they are simply where someone had walked with wet feet and the prints hadn't dried yet.

They look to be around the size of a human's and are booted.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Thel looks around, unsure what he's really looking for, unaccustomed to all this delving.

Survival (1d20+2=14)

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun follows Thel and fails to see anything new in the area . . .
Survival (1d20+3=14)

He inspects the walls and what used to be the paintings . . .
(Perception roll up to the DM if needed . . .)

Liberty's Edge

Reposting the description of this room for everyone's benefit.

You see a massive chamber filled with cobwebs and dust. A shallow pool twenty feet across lies in the middle of the room, with tall pillars to the east of it, each carved to look like a tall, beautiful, human woman. The ceiling is vaulted, and a crescent moon has been painted at the highest point, which is directly above the pool. Although the paint is chipped, it still retains a peculiar luster that reflects light with a glistening glow. The walls sport a few empty sconces, and you see an imposing set of bronze doors on the east wall. These double doors bear images of winged horses rearing majestically.

Kolgun

Spoiler:
Was a knowledge religion check actually, I just rolled it and hit a natural 20, so you are set.

The carvings that you see seem to symbolize Glarias. She was a minor deity that was worshiped for quite some time but stopped granting spells to her followers around the time of the death of Aroden(about a century ago). It is thought she died as well, though with how few followers she had overall she may have just faded from thought. She held the domains of good, luck and knowledge.

Anyone in the room can also make a sound based perception check.

Perception DC 20

Spoiler:
You hear a very faint scratching sound coming from the two doors off the norther hallway.

Loren

Spoiler:
Looking around the room, your keen elven senses pick up a secret door along middle of the north wall. If it goes straight it would likely lead into area 5.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

Loren whispers, there is a secret door along middle of the north wall. If it goes straight it would likely lead into area 5.
and i can hear a scratching sound coming from the two doors off the northern hallway

perception roll d20+2= 22! (ive used up my good roll!)

Spoiler:
http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2096427/

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Survival: 1d20+1=13

Bengal follows the others, listening as she keeps her weapon to her side.

Perception: 1d20+7=14

"So then what is the plan?"

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun explains the former purpose of the room as a small temple to the moon goddess who faded from Golarion.

"Shall we see what is behind scratching at the door?"

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

that sounds like a good idea Kolgun

if the others go in Loren will back them up when they open the door staying about 20ft behind them

Liberty's Edge

I moved everyone into the room since you seem to be exploring it. Also I am going to be labling the two doors, so you can let me know what you are planning on opening.

Male Gnome Wizard-1

"Just lets be cautious. Something scratching at a door means it either wants in or out, and either way it's probably not good."

Survival Check (1d20+0=13)

sound based perception (1d20+5=18)

Wow, did we all just get 13 on survival? that's kinda awesome.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Thel goes over to where the secret door was found. "Those legends that I read as a boy about endless ruins, with secrets hidden seem to be true." Taking a moment to sharpen his daggers, he looks over the wall for any indication of how the door would open...

Will Take 20 on Perception (sight)

Perception (sight): 20+1 = 21

Liberty's Edge

It looks like the door has a catch where a bit of stone overlaps its outer frame. With that moved it appears to swivel on a central post so that you can squeeze past on either side.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun makes his way to the door that keeps the scratching thing closed in. He hefts his hammer and, for a moment, inspects the runes etched on its face.

He waits for the other to join him before opening the door to face the source of the scratching . . ..

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

loren will follow 15 ft behind Kolgun

Liberty's Edge

As a note, there actually seems to be a scratching coming from each of the two doors on the north wall.

And just to help speed this a bit:

Once everyone has gathered around, Kolgun pulls at the door's handle and finds it locked. There is no obvious keyhole.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Bengal gently nudges everyone to the side, so she can further inspect the door to find out how to pick the locks.

I am not sure what I would have to roll to do that. Perception to look for it? Or just straight disable device?

Liberty's Edge

Just giving it some inspection is fine since you are trained at disable.

Bengal

Spoiler:
There is a bolt that seems to slide out from the door into the door to lock it. You can't tell just how it could be unlocked normally, maybe there is a slide on the other side of the door but it does not seem to be designed to be opened from this side. However, while it certainly would be challenging, it seems likely that its within your skill to open it by sliding your tools between the frame and easing the bolt back into the door.

Edit: Just to save a bit of back and forth over something that will become obvious quickly when you look at it, the other door on the northern wall looks to be locked in the same fashion.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

After discovering how she would be able to unlock the door, she reaches into her back and pulls out her tools. Humming softly to herself, she sets upon the task of opening the door.

Disable Device: 1d20+10=25

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

With a sly grin on his face, Kolgun nods at Bengal in appreciation for her deftness with the delicate tools.

Liberty's Edge

Bengal makes quick work of the lock, though it doesn't come easily. As the bolt slides free the scratching on the other side of the door grows silent for a split second and then the door bursts open.

What stands on the other side was likely a man, once, but now its flesh is rotten and hangs from him in bloody purple clumps. Its eyes are intelligent and focus on you angrily. There is what looks to be the tattoo of a crescent moon in the center of its forehead that glows with a faint blue illumination.

Knowledge Religion 16

Spoiler:
The creature looks to be a ghoul.

Knowledge Religion 20

Spoiler:
The crescent moon symbol was the holy symbol of Galarias, the moon goddess this room seemed devoted to.

Ok, guys, going to need some initiatives.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

iniative 14
will try hand of apprentice as an attack (if i get a chance)

attack = a 25 I wont roll to confirm as i think it is undead
Damage 8

rolls are in the spoiler is that an ok way of doing it? otherwise it takes me ages to make each one a separate link

Spoiler:
inaitive 14 http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2100137/
attack 25 http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2100140/
Damage 8 http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2100142/

Liberty's Edge

Links in the spoiler is just fine. As for the crit, go ahead and roll to confirm. In the beta system, many more things are crit-able now. Undead included, so long as they have a body with obvious targetable parts. So if its not incorporeal, something like an elemental, or a ooze or something you can crit now.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Bengals eyes widen as she looks to the creature in front of her.

Initiative: 1d20+4=19

She quickly grabs her sword, and stabs at it, hoping to strike solidly.

Attack: 1d20+5=22, Damage: 1d4+1=5, Sneak attack (if I happen to act before its turn) 1d6=3

Sorry! Ended up copying the wrong link for my initiative roll.

Liberty's Edge

It is going on intiative 22, so so far our order looks like this:
Bengal
Creature
Loren

Once I get everyone's initiative and know what they are looking to do in the first round, I'll put up a posting.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun gazes at the attrocity in front of him, but his training and study does not seem to answer the questions that pose in his mind . . .
Knowledge - Religion (1d20+5=8)

Regardless, he knows danger when he sees it. He readies to strike the creature -
1d20+1=21

Liberty's Edge

Ok, so just revising that since Bengal's initiative changed. Right now we are looking at:
Creature
Kolgun
Bengal
Loren

And just need Thel and Aldrin's before we start.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

I'm heading off to work now so I'll post my 1st round attack
Attack / Damage (1d20+2,1d8+2=[17, 2] 19, [6, 2] 8)

For Tarlane

Spoiler:
If anyone is inured by my turn in the 2nd round I'll use Channel Energy for my turn. Not sure if I'll be able to check in after I head off to work, so feel free to make my rolls.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

confirmation roll for critical 24
so damage is 21!

Spoiler:
attack = http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2100346/
damage =http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2100351/

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Initiative (1d20+3=5)

Should've known there'd be something behind that door. Sorry about the late post.

Liberty's Edge

No worries at all, Thel. It all just came up today after all, we just managed one of our little spurts of activity which is always nice to keep things moving. I had been worrying a bit about things slowing down of late that interest was fading some, so it was fun having a few people about at the same time to be posting back and forth with.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Looks like that thing is trapped in there, so will spend my turn double-moving to AU-36 (if the space is still available). Will revise if necessary.

Interest hasn't faded for me...just had waaaaaaay too much going on at once to give this game the attention it deserved.

Male Gnome Wizard-1

sorry bout that gents, was playing online at the time when tarlane asked me for initiative.

Initiative roll (1d20+2=19)

Telekinetic fist (1d20+3=15, 1d4=4)

Aldrin will move to AS37 and use his telekinetic fist on the hideous creature, while saying "See? I told you something wanted out!"

Liberty's Edge

So it looks like our initiative is going to be:
Creature
Kolgun
Aldrin
Bengal
Loren
Thel

The creature lunges forward at Bengal, snapping at her with teeth that hang loose in its mouth and clawing at her with both arms. One of the claws scratches across her arm, just nicking her, but seeming to burn badly.

Bengal, you took 1hp damage. I also need you to make 2 fort saves, the first one is spoilered below, just tell me the result of the second.

Fort Save DC 12

Spoiler:
You feel every muscle in your body just seem to lock up and stiffen. You are paralyzed for 3 rounds.

Even swinging around the corner, Kolgun manages to connect solidly with the creature, smacking it firmly with his warhammer, its flesh giving in so that bone peaks through clearly where he strikes.

Aldrin follows up with a blow from his telekinetic fist, the blow leaving the creature looking to barely be on its feet.

I just need to wait for Bengal's save before continuing. Whether she makes it or not is going to affect her turn.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Fort saves:
1d20+2=3, 1d20+2=4

Oh awesome...
