Tarlane

Spoiler:
Thel goes through the piles of junk of Fascher attempts to talk his ear off. "Was out at the Delve this morning, rescuing elves, fighting hobgoblins. Having a good time of it, too, until we realized we were short on provisions." Thel pulls a fine looking dagger from a pile of scrap bronze. Testing its' weight, Thel admires the fine weapon.

"It seems that we're going to need a steady supply of goods to keep us going." Looking around the store, "You wouldn't have access to potions of any sort would you? I'll keep bringing you what we find in the Delve, and you keep us stocked? We'll also be needing a steady supply of rations. Looks like that dungeon stretches out pretty far...might be stuck in there for awhile now and then."

Anything you guys want me to trade for with those extra weapons we found? Otherwise, just gonna take the gold and find some cure potions, and rations.

Liberty's Edge

Thel

Spoiler:
Fascher listens awestruck at the description of the journey so far. "Thats amazing! I've always wanted to make it into the delve myself, but I'm afraid that I'm not so good with a sword, nor am I very magically inclined. Always had trouble building up the courage too. And the thought of hitting something?" He shakes his head quickly at that and gives a bit of a dopey grin. "Still, I'm not such a good salesman either, and look at me now! Maybe I'll make it in one day after all!."

Continuing to listen to the supplies that you imply you wish, he nods. "Of course, of course. Listen here, I always appreciate a customer with good stories. Tell you what, keep from going too wild on me, and rations are on the house. Also, the church of Abadar is the main supplier of potions and scrolls about here, but I tell you, those Hammers just don't understand the needs of an adventurer and will charge you an arm and a leg they will! I know one of their lay priests and have me a special deal worked out with them. I can't knock off too much of the price, being as how a 'special deal' with a lawgiver is pretty much a normal deal with anyone else, but knowing you are about now and knowing you want them, I'll make sure to keep a handful on hand that you can trade in for!."

You can use your 60% trade in rate on potions of cure light wounds here as well, up to 5 at a time. More then that and you'll need to see the church. Also, in his gratitude for your story, he'll give you up to a weeks worth of rations for the whole party for the promise you'll stop by again with further stories next time you are in town.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Tarlane

Spoiler:
Will get as many cure potions as we can with the trade-in (if even 1). Otherwise, will keep the credit for future purchases, and will grab 2 rations for each character.

Will also spin a tale of the fight in the temple/torture chamber.

Liberty's Edge

Below is a list of the loot that you brought back, and its market value(meaning that you sell it at half price, though you can trade with the shopkeep for other goods he has in stock for 60% of their value. I noted seperate the things that have no value and the things I believe has been claimed. I told Thel that the shop keep currently has 300gp on hand, and you can trade for up to 5 CLW potions. Sounds like he was leaning towards getting the maximum.

I mentioned to Thel while he was talking to the shopkeep, that the store has a very wide range of adventuring gear. You can get any standard weapons, anything off the normal equipment table, standard alchemical items, and costly(but common) spell components: such as 100 gp pearls and small quantities of diamond dust or onyx. If you want something else feel free to ask me as his inventory is often in flux, but its unlikely he has anything more magical then an everburning torch. However while he buys at 50%, he will accept items in trade for 60% of their market value.

50 gp a healer's kit
50 gp Yellow Agate
5 gp Misc. junk in leaders box
150 gp Studded Leather(medium) x6
225 gp Falchion(medium) x3
10 gp Javelin(medium) x10
10 gp Battleaxe
9 gp Light Steel Shield
75 gp Longbow
16 gp Morningstar(small) x3
2 gp Spear(small) x2
3 gp Javelin(small) x3
50 gp Leather Armor(small) x5
9 gp Light Wooden Shield(small) x3
5 gp Necklace made of animal claws
5 sp 9 arrows

0 gp Greatclub
0 gp Sling(small) x2

315 gp Masterwork Longsword(I believe that the elf claimed this)
100 gp Masterwork Thieves Tools(I believe that the tibbet claimed this)

Total Value(not counting claimed goods)= 674 gp
If you buy all 5 cure light wounds potions, that will cost you 415 gp of the profit above.

That leaves you with 260 gp in value, which you can either trade for other goods at the 60% rate, or you can sell straight up for 130 gp. Hopefully that all makes sense, still pretty out of it tonight and I'm having trouble putting my words together properly.

Makes sense. I say we go for the clw (1 each), then sell the remainder and split it. 26 gp and 1 potion each. No real need for carrying around all these extra weapons.

A bit of meta-game, most of the baddies we face are probably gonna have weapons if we need something later on.

im up for that

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

That's cool with me. Kolgun will give Aldrin his CLW potion in repayment for reviving him.

In the morning Kolgun wakes early and returns to the mining guild to repair any tools the workers might need before their shift begins. As he swings his hammer he thinks about the trials he and his companions will face in the up coming day. He knows the pinging of his hammer on the anvil will reach Torag's ears.

Afterward he returns to the inn for a warm meal, and waits for his friends to rise so they can plan their next step.

They'll find him outside with a hot cup in one hand and his pipe in the other.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

Loren will be there bright and early
do elves still only require 4 hours rest in pathfinder

Liberty's Edge

Don't forget, that loot tally above didn't count any of the actual coins that you found either because you weren't needing to sell those. So far, in addition to what you made at the shop, you have also found 133gp, 102sp, and 70cp. Sounds like you guys are splitting everything, so that would be 26 gp more(with 3 left over), 25 sp more(with 2 left over) and 14 cp each, in addition to your take from the shopkeep.

And yes, Elves just need to meditate 4 hours a night to be rested and unfatigued. However as a wizard you do need 8 hours of downtime to prep your spells, that doesn't have to be spent sleeping but it does need to be outside of actual adventuring or traveling. I have no problem with you sitting and reading your spellbook, or relaxing in the tavern or any of that though.

Liberty's Edge

Kol, I managed to screw up there in my description for you, its what I get for typing with a fever. Its not actually a mining guild(you can't help but think of that when you are talking to dwarves it seems.) Its the logging guild, the cut from the forests near town and send the logs down the river. There are a number of mills in town that could use your smithing. I just saw mining in your post and wanted to correct that so it made sense for the area.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

No worries at all. I think my mind saw it as a logging camp, but it was late to the message didn't make it to my typing hands. Hope you're feeling better. I'm off to work but I'll try to check in tonight

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Thel meets the party at the inn, finding the cleanest chair, and drops 4 sacks of coins with 2 rations, and 1 potion of cure light wounds in each bag. "Everyone's cut from the weapons and goods sold. I also found an unlimited supply of rations, and some cheap healing potions."

He orders a wine, sipping at it, while eying any available females in the room.

Male Gnome Wizard-1

Alrin nods appreciatively at the kind gesture from Kolgun. "Thanks Kol. I'll be sure too keep these handy in case it happens again. I don't usually keep a lot of company, so I try to keep alive the people I bother to talk to."

so the total we each got was 26gp, 25sp, 14cp, 1 CLW potion, and 2 rations right? Just wanted to be sure.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

thankyou Thel, I am in your debt

Liberty's Edge

Aldrin, I believe with all said and done, if you are splitting the coins evenly, you end up with 52gp, 25sp, 14cp. And there are 3gp and 2sp that can't be divided.(26gp from coins found and 26gp from goods sold)

I have events in town planned for the future, but not much is happening quite yet, so I just am enjoying some of the RP. Feel free to chat with each other and the NPCs if you want, or explore other parts of town or the like, or just let me know if you guys are ready to head back down into the dungeon.

Aside from the tibbet, the only two females in the bard is the cook, who it is difficult to tell is even female and the barmaid. While Taran is certainly on the pretty side of plain and is friendly enough, when she notices Thel's gaze she does her best to avoid his table except to occasional refill his drink.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Whenever Taran is nearby the table, Thel will start telling a story about the Delve, and his exploits there.

Diplomacy (if needed): 1d20+6=19

Guessing we're staying the night, and it can be pretty lonely in an unfamiliar bed. EDIT: Any picture of Taran?

Liberty's Edge

Taran does pause to listen, its hard to be a staff at this bar and not be interested in the adventuring life after all, but she remains distant from any direct flirting Thel puts on.

However when he starts to tell his stories, Thel does gain an immediate audience as the halfling makes his way out of the kitchen and pulls up a chair beside him. He listens raptly, asking regular questions and trying to get further details drawn out whenever he can.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

"...and then the hobgoblin jumped up on top of the blood-soaked alter, roared in his savage language, and jumped down at me. Deftly side-stepping the creature, I drove my dagger into his shoulder, sending him rolling across the floor in pain.

Howling with anger, he grabbed a javelin from one of the fallen goblins, and prepared to hurl it at me. Seeing his intent, I threw my dagger, embedding it deep in its eye socket. I quickly moved in to finish the beast off, but it pulled the dagger out, and ravaged me.

Barely able to fend off it's attacks, I whittled it's resilience down until it was a bleeding mess on the floor. Quaffing my potion, I looked for the next vile creature which had defiled the forgotten temple, but the rest were all dead."

Stands and re-enacts both sides of the battle, using his daggers and a broomstick as visual aids.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

She hops onto Thel's lap, sighing as she listens to the theatrics of his story. She then places her head on her paws, and yawns loudly.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

a fine tale thel!
so when are we going back?

Liberty's Edge

The halfling stares on in amazement at the story. "Truly you are a brave one. A brave group for that matter, but with such a powerful leader. I bet you are just the sort that Dressa has been looking for. Dressa Drave, poor lass. Been worried sick about her brother. He disappeared about a year ago, right at the end of a bunch of folks turned up missing. Thought we were going to have to have aid come all the way from Oppara we did! But finally things just quieted down on their own, I suppose. Poor girl never did give up looking though. Not too many folks willing to go looking in the darker places about to try and find him though, and not too many adventurers pass through that are willing to help a sweet girl who don't have much to offer in return but her gratitude."

Sense Motive DC 15

Spoiler:
The halfling seems very serious in his story, but you can't help but notice that Tamara rolls her eyes a bit when he begins to talk of the rumor and that she is quick to cover a smile when he refers to Dressa as a 'sweet girl'.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun listens to Thel's rendition of the battle and chuckles. "Sounds exciting, he thinks, sorry I missed it.

He examines the last of the yellowing bruise under his workshirt that did't quite heal up. A little reminder, he supposes, that he'll need to step lively on the next jaunt.

The Halfling's tale almost seems to be a plea. He seems sincere . .
Sense Motive - (1d20+7=25)

but of course, there's more to the story.

I have to get these 18's and 20's out of the way so there's room for 5's & 6's when we're in combat!

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Sense motive: 1d20+5=11

She hops down off Thel's lap, then goes over to Kolgun and jumps on his, purring as she settles down.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Thel drinks his wine, half-listening to the story, his body turned slightly away from the halfling. Seeing Tamara smile about the 'sweet girl' comment, he turns to the halfling and asks about Dressa.

Sense Motive: 1d20+1=21 (go natural 20!!)

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

i would be happy to help but i fear there is little hope after a year,

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun looks surprised as Bengal hops into his lap, but he scratches her ears and chuckles as she purs.

Liberty's Edge

The halfling blinks a bit at the question about the woman. "Dressa? Well shes a lovely young girl. Barely has past her 40th year after all. Shes quite pretty too if that is what you are concerned with. The small figure leans in and nudges Thel conspiritorily "Round in all the right places. Each of her kids made sure of that more then the last."

Male Gnome Wizard-1

"Such a bother, such a bother! The delve is one thing, but stopping to help every poor soul that can't help themselves? We'll never find what we're looking for if we stop like this! Then again, she might know something we don't. She's lived here that long....hmmm. Well, help her or don't, I don't care either way. I'll follow you as long as it doesn't take us too far away from our goal."

Aldrin seems a bit perturbed at the thought of helping people who aren't directly helping him. He also seems to be arguing his point more with himself then with the rest of the team.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Chuckles at Aldrin's debate with himself.

"How is it that we can help her?

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun continues takes out his pipe and begins to pack it with some tobacco.

"The best place to find a clue to the lad's disappearance might be back in the Delve itself. I'd say we take a look around before we raise the poor woman's hopes needlessly."

He looks around for something to light his pipe with. He doesn't want to disturb the creature that's sitting in his lap. He's seen how sharp her 'claws' are . . .

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Hands Kolgun a burning stick (lit from the candle on the table). "Yes. Best not to upset the ladies."

To the halfling: "If there's anything more you could tell us, so we're not running around that complex blindly, it would be helpful."

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

When Kolgun speaks, the cat nods, agreeing with him. Though she cannot actively speak, she could still agree or not. She looks to Thel and chuffs at him, shaking her head.

Liberty's Edge

The halfling considers as he looks to Thel. "I don't know just what you would be able to do to help, honestly. But I did notice that you seemed to have an eye for the lasses, and it of course made me think of lovely Dressa. She simply is always looking for someone to help her at least."

He considers the request for more information. "Well, as I said, about a year ago we had some sort of beast striking at the townsfolk. Ripping them to shreds. Seems that every month we would find someone just torn to bits, dead in their home. But whatever was doing it would disappear without a trace. But Chasmal, he was the last. Not torn up like the others, simply was gone from his room one day. No blood. No body. Its why Dressa still hopes he lives. She has asked anyone she could to help her, but there has been little true aid. Whedon, the head of the loggers guild tried to help her and he found the tracks of some foul beast that walked like a man which led back towards that there delve you spoke of, but then they vanished. For some reason it didn't kill old Chasmal, at least not right away. It carried him off. So perhaps he still lives, though what kind of life could be had as a prisoner of a cruel monster, I could only imagine."

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

"When the morning comes, I'll find Dressa, and see what kind of aide I can offer her. But tonight, we celebrate the vanquishing of those vile creatures!"

Thel raises his glass of wine, swallows it one gulp, and orders another.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun puffs on his pipe, then blows a lazy smoke ring . . .

"I'll wake early and go to the logging guild. Whedon might be able tell me a thing or two about the foul incident."

Another puff from the pipe, another smoke ring, and finally a long pull from the mug in front of him . . .

"Should we meet in front of the tavern before heading back to the Delve? Perhaps Judello might consider preparing breakfast for us before we set off?"

He raises a questioning eyebrow to the halfing, then chuckles and finishes the ale from his mug.

EDIT: the correct Avatar, doh!

Liberty's Edge

The halfling nods his head, looking both surprised and pleased that his name was used by adventurers. "Of course, of course! I will make it myself!" He leans in close to whisper. "Between you and me, Murla isn't too much of a cook. I'll make sure it gets done right." He nods again then and hurries off back to the kitchen.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

Tarlane what kind of knowledge check for lycanthropes?
how much do we know anyway, what about silver vulnerbility?

sounds like a werebeast to me, perhaps the brother was the beast?

Liberty's Edge

By default I believe that were-creatures would be knowledge(local) because they are humanoids, but I will also give you a knowledge(nature) check on this, whichever you prefer. Werewolves are a well known enough thing that you can assume to know the legends that they turn at the full moon and that they fear silver, but those are just legends so your characters wouldn't know for sure, and beyond that you will need a check.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun chuckles again . . .

"Loren, your intellect is unquestioned, but don't frighten the locals with stories meant to keep children from misbehaving."

He taps out the ashes from his pipe, then stands up gently, allowing Bengal-cat the chance to hop down safely.

"I shall turn in. Let's rise early, then venture back and see for ourselves what might be lurking below. What do you say?"

He gives Loren a friendly clap on the shoulder and a knowing look, then nods to the halfling as he turns and heads to his room.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Thel searches the room one last time for any company for the night...If none is found, will have one more drink to ensure he sleeps soundly.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

loren does not have any pertinent skills so he wont worry about making a check
tomorrow morning or tonight if there is time (and the shops are still open) he will enquire into the possibilty of aquiring a silver dagger

kolgun how long would it take you to make a silver dagger and how much would it cost?

Liberty's Edge

Are you guys heading straight out in the morning, or are you going to question Dessa or do any other errands?

And crafting times are a somewhat fluid thing because the time depends on how well he rolls and whether he sets the DC higher then it needs to be. I would guess that he could have a silver dagger done in two days however. You also could buy one from Faschers for 22gp.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

I don't have any points in profession atm. I was planning on it at level two to RP with his work with Whedon. If someone feels a silver dagger is necessary I'd have to say Faschers would be the way to go atm. As for errands . . .

Kolgun wakes early and heads to the logging camp to sharpen axes, straighten saws, or any other items that may need mending.
He speaks to Whedon about his offer and explains that he'll take him up on it after he's had time to become used to the tools and tasks that the loggers have for him. They're different than he was accustomed to working on back home. He also discretely asks him about Dessa’s brother and the tracks he saw.

Afterward he’ll return to the Lost Shepherd and have breakfast with Judello and any of his friends that are there. He expects to be packed and ready when the others are.

Liberty's Edge

Whedon is very down to earth in his business dealings and grateful for any help that is given, its obvious that the loggers have a hard time in this small town to keep up with all that needs to be done. He'll gladly take the assistance in the future when you are ready.

When you mention Dressa's brother however, his face blanches a bit and he frowns, nervously drawing out a symbol of Erastil on a chain around his throat and rubbing it between his fingers subconsciously. "Whatever took that man was as no beast that I have seen before. It was a simple thing to track, straight back to the ruins of Chordille Keep. But it was like no beast I have seen before, it had many traits of an animal but it did not walk as one. It was swift, heavy, wise and fearless. It did not take the paths the animals used to stay out of sight, but without concern followed the trail of men. I feel the hand of Lamashtu in creating such a monster. It is for the best of the village that it has not returned."

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Will spend the morning asking about Dressa, and her brother. On the way to her abode, will ask about the disappearances, and why they suddenly stopped. On arrival, will bring her a bouquet of flowers.

Diplomacy: 1d20+6=19 (hints, clues, rumors)
Knowledge (local): 1d20+5=20 (to cover anything diplomacy didn't)

Liberty's Edge

Most of the townsfolk still look rather uncomfortable on the topic of the disapearances, even after a year 6 deaths and a disapearance in a small town like this is quite an event. Most people seem to believe that whatever beast may have done this found something in Chasmal so that it no longer needed to keep killing and likely used him in some horrific rite. Overall they seem to corroborate the halflings story that the deaths happened about one a month over half a year and stopped when the beast apparently attacked Chasmal and then fled with him. A guard remembers that there did seem to be signs of a struggle in the room, but there was no blood anywhere, so they believed the beast knocked him out and dragged him off.

When you arrive at the house that others have indicated is Dressa's, a portly woman in her early forties cautiously creaks open the door, looking out at you. She blinks a bit, surprised by both your look of an adventurer and the flowers you hold. You can see three children, the oldest looking to be perhaps 10 watching curiously. "Um... Yes, sir? What can I do for you?"

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

loren will buy two silver daggers (better safe than sorry)

Liberty's Edge

Fascher seems thrilled to have a second customer in as many days. He looks to be average in just about all ways, not being particularly tall nor muscular. His eyes and short hair are both brown.

When he realizes the elf is a companion of Thel's he grins. "I bet you have your own tales of adventure too, hm? I'd love to hear them sometime. Never made it down to the delve myself, but always dreamed I would. Maybe you'll share some of your stories? Any return trip, always glad to hear of them!"

He looks back at the piles of goods about the shop and moves quickly through them, picking out two silvered daggers easily from the heaps of supplies. "Here you are, my good sir. May they serve you well!"

Male Human Swashbuckler 1
Tarlane wrote:
"Um... Yes, sir? What can I do for you?"

Holding out the flowers, Thel smiles. "I heard that there was a local woman in town who could use some help."

Don't want to take up too much time RPing, I know everyone wants to get back to the delve...Will explain that I heard about her brother, and since we're exploring the ruins anyways, I thought that we might be able to help. Note how I don't know there's another level below the one we're currently exploring :P

Liberty's Edge

The woman looks to the flowers and then to Thel as he explains what he is there for. Within moments her face lights up and her arms are around his neck as she cries in happiness, thanking him for his generous offer. Unfortunately, she doesn't have much in the way of any additional information to offer, and while she would certainly give any coin she has to have her brother back, her family isn't rich by any means.

She can give a good description of her brother however, he has dark brown hair and hazel eyes and his most distinguishing characteristic is that he's very tall, was the tallest in the village.

Alright, if anyone else has any errands they want to run, just let me know. Otherwise I'll be assuming you guys are heading back out tomorrow and post to that extent once I have given everyone time to say if they have anything else to do.
