Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Bengal stays in cat form as the others get their information, being sure to follow them while they go out getting information.

no other errands for me

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Promising the woman that he will do his best to find her, he takes his leave. Returning to the inn, Thel waits for the rest of the party to assemble.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun's finished eating. He's ready with his pack loaded and his overcoat and apron on.

He offers to loan Thel his bull's eye lantern. He'd brought it to examine the details of stone structure or any runes discovered, but doubts that need will arise soon.

"Ready when you are" he says.

Liberty's Edge

The trip back to the delve is quiet and uneventful, allowing for a nice walk to give time for everyone to prepare for what is ahead. Upon arrival to the ruins, things look much as you left them with no signs of enemies having come from below.

Perception 15(base, no special senses)

Spoiler:
You notice that one of the abandoned campsites looks like it may have been used the night before. The only real sign is that the firepit seems to have been lit, though even that has died out now and is just barely warm.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

On the way there, Bengal mainly travels with them in her cat form. About most of the way there, she stops for a moment and spends the time to change to humanoid form, then catches up with the group.

Perception: 1d20+5=22

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Idling around one of the nearby campfires, Thel frowns. "It seems we aren't the only ones interested in these ruins." Picking up one of the logs, "This one is still warm," and looks around, dagger in hand.

Perception: 1d20+1=17

Liberty's Edge

You can see a number of tracks around the different campsites, but if you wish to determine whether any of them are recent and where they went, that will be a survival check. Otherwise, on a cursory inspection of the surrounding area, you don't see anyone still here.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Walking around the different campfires, Thel inspects the tracks, trying to determine what made them, and how many there were.

Survival: 1d20+2=19

Male Gnome Wizard-1

Aldrin is busy furiously writing in a notebook full of alchemical formulae and odd designs, far to busy to even notice the campfires.

Perception (1d20+2=7)

"Who care's who's been here recently? They aren't here now, so all the better. Now, lets hope that the trash we took out yesterday didn't multiply. Little lizards tend to breed like rabbits!"

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

loren keeps an eye out for trouble

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun waits until the group is ready to head in. He examins the flight of steps to the first landing, looking for any signs of passage; a footprint or ash from a torch on the wall, any sound from within . . .
Perception - (1d20+3=23)

When the group is ready he'll fall in behind Bengal, next to Thel.

Liberty's Edge

Looking around after the tracks, Thel notes that there seems to be one new set of tracks. They are wearing boots and about human size. They look like they go down into the dungeon, but then come back out again and move east, disapearing in the tall grasses in the direction of the river.

Kolgun

Spoiler:
When you move down to the first landing, you hear quiet annoyed muttering in goblin from the main hallway you explored first before. Its too faint to make out, but there is obviously something that way.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

When his comrades approach Kolgun holds a finger to his lips. He points to his ear, then down towards the chamber to indicate he hears something.

"Goblin . . ." he whispers.

of to work . . . I'll try to check in

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Stopping at the top of the stairs, Thel strains to see the goblins.

Liberty's Edge

Whatever was speaking is far enough back in the tunnel to be out of range of normal vision or darkvision. Now that they have been pointed out and everyone is quiet, the speech can be heard easily, though the muttered words are hard to make out from this distance. The noise is likely coming from straight down the hallway where the tripline was before, though it could be from any of those rooms as well if the doors were left open.

After a moment of listening a bird's screech is heard from down the tunnel, followed by nasal laughter and a victory cry.

Goblin

Spoiler:
With the few words you can pick out, it sounds like some game is being argued over, as regular assertions that something isn't fair are being made.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Pulling out his daggers, Thel whispers to the dwarf, "Looks like we should have stayed a while longer..."

Sneaky...sneaky (1d20+4=14) - Stealth

Creeping down the stairs, he looks down at the cat, nodding to the hallway, indicating that the rest of the party will wait until she can find out what's going on down there.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

(loren whispers to the others) sound like they are playing a game

what kind of light sources are there in the delve? do we need to carry a torch around all the time, if so lets all play dwarves and half orcs or we will never sneak up on anything!

Liberty's Edge

From what you guys have seen of the dungeon so far, there is very little in the way of lighting. There was a weak flickering torch in that first hallway where the trip wire was, and the temple had sconces, but none of the other rooms have had their own lighting.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Bengal moves down the hallway, taking out her rapier as she tries to scout things out.

Stealth: 1d20+7=22, Perception: 1d20+7=24

Liberty's Edge

Bengal

Spoiler:
Moving down to the base of the stairs so that you can see further down the hallway, you can see that the door you left unopened before now hangs open and there two hobgoblins and three goblins outside in the hallway. They look like they are set up as guards, but the hobgoblins are sitting on the ground napping against the wall, while the goblins are standing around a dead crow with a string tied to its foot. One of them holds the string and looks to be dancing happily while the others curse at him in goblin.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Bengal tilts her head to the side as she watches them, then moves back to the group. Shaking her head, she tells them, "There are three goblins and two hobgoblins. Currently the two are napping, and the others are goofing off."

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun whispers "We could rush them and hope to dispatch two before the sleeprs wake. However, luring them to an ambush of magic and stealth might prove more . . . rewarding."

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

"Bengal, can you lure the ones who are awake back to the stairs? We can ambush them when they reach the top, then go down and finish off the ones who are asleep."

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

bengal, i can put the goblins to sleep if you get me close enough

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

She blinks for a moment, trying to think about what to do, she looks over to the gnome, "And what do you think we should do?"

Male Gnome Wizard-1

"I know goblins aren't known for their strength of spirit, so a sleeping spell will have a good chance of working. If it does, we can quietly dispatch all 5 of them. That would probably be our best plan at this point in time. Luring the goblins will probably just result in the hobgoblins being woken up. We should probably combine the two plans, and be ready to down quickly whichever goblins manage to resist the sleep spell."

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Do we have a sleep spell available to us?

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)
Thel Menderovian wrote:
Do we have a sleep spell available to us?

yup! i would not have suggested it otherwise, so what next shall we sneak up?how many? bengal, myself and one other? we dont want to make too many stealth checks

Liberty's Edge

I know I've been quiet a couple days, I'm just letting you guys know that I'm still about. I'm just letting you work out your plan and there isn't much ICly for me to say until you do.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Toren and Bengal should go down first, to get the sleep spell going, and for scouting--to make sure there are no other surprises. The rest of us can hang back just out of sight, and move in to take out any that didn't fall asleep (bengal and toren can take out the ones sleeping).

Feel free to add/modify plans.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun nods his head and whispers "Sounds like a good plan."

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

She nods as she looks to Loren, "I am not so sure as to how I am supposed to help you get down there quietly, but I will do my best to keep you out of harm if you can do your best to stay quiet."

Male Gnome Wizard-1

"If it helps, I also have a sleep spell prepared for just this kind of occasion, and I've been known to be stealthy on occasion."

Aldrin has a +6 stealth and a DC 14 sleep spell prepared in case this plan goes down while i'm not watching and they decide to use me instead of the elf.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Hisses between clenched teeth, twin daggers in each hand, "Damn goblins! I knew it was a bad idea leaving this place."

Waits at the top of the stairs for the spell casters to make their way down into the ruins.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

which one of us should do it? i have only a stealth of 3 but a sleep dc of 16!,i will roleplay a bit, as my Elf is slightly arrogant!

lets get on with this then bengal lead the way, I think i had better cast the sleep as it will be more likely to succeed against the Gobbos!

stealth Roll = 13

Liberty's Edge

Bengal, when you make your stealth check, if you want to make a second one, I will let you aid another for Loren, pointing where to step and the like to help him be more quiet. I'll post what happens once her checks are up.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

She quietly tries to make her way down there, while also trying to quietly lead the elf.

Stealth 1d20+12=23, Aid another stealth: 1d20+12=20

Liberty's Edge

Creeping up quietly until the elf can just barely make out the forms of the goblins in the dim torchlight behind them, Loren carefully casts his sleep spell. Two of them nod off immediately, but while the third looks briefly groggy he doesn't drift off.

The last goblin looks momentarily annoyed at the other two for passing out in the middle of their game, but then a sly grin crosses his face and he sneaks over to gently pull the dead crow away from the one who was holding it by the string.

So far it looks like you have still managed to remain unnoticed.

Thats horrible, I rerolled that goblins perception check with a +5 after the spell went off to see if he noticed something was up and he failed again. With what I rolled he would have failed even with a +10 bonus.

Edit: Note though, that while all four of those are sleeping, the two hobgoblins will get listen checks to hear any combat(at -10 for sleeping, but the DC is like 0 I think, though I would have to look to be sure). The other two goblins will have to be shaken as a standard action to be woke up though until the spell ends. If one of you wants to kill the goblin quietly and he doesn't see it coming you need to do enough damage to drop him, and I'll let you make a CMB check to represent you hitting just the right spot so that he can't let out a scream or anything so that the hobgoblins don't have a chance to make perception checks.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

So the rest of us can go down now? Or are we waiting for the cat and the elf to give us a cue?

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Well how would you all like to do this? Bengal can turn into a cat to try to lure the goblin away, or we can try a different plan.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

that sounds like a good idea.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Does Loren have a silence spell? Lure him back to the stairs, cast silence on the area, he can't shout, and then we kill him silently, then take out the ones that are sleeping.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

loren will cast another sleep spell (using his ring to do it)
if that does not work he asks bengal to attack at the same time as him (perhaps she can throw a dagger at the goblins throat?)
he uses his hand of the apprentice at +6 to hit and 1d8+5 damage
as a cbm (i assume you will deduct off my roll as appropriate?)
he rolls a 14

damage if it hits is 6

Liberty's Edge

The goblin stands there, playing with the crow for a moment before he accidentally drops the string he is holding. Furrowing his brow a bit he bends down to pick it up and slumps to the floor asleep.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

IF Kolgun's darkvision allows him to see the goblin fall in slumber. He chuckles to himself; the elf may be slight, but he seems to know when action is needed.

He draws his dagger and motions for Thel and Aldrin to move up an join Bengal and the mage.

Time to dispatch these minions of evil.

EDIT: the avatar, again

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

Loren whispers,I think its down to Bengal to go and cut their throats (coup de grace time!), not pleasant work im afraid! start with the hobgoblins as they are in a natural sleep and more likely to awaken if there is noise, and then take out the goblins as they probably wont stir

Loren will have his sword readied and hovering (with hand of the apprentice) to stab any of the goblinoids if they are not killed outright by bengal

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Bengal quickly moves around through the enemies, going to the closest hobgoblin first, then moving onto the second hobgoblin, then goes from goblin to goblin.

First hob 2d4+2=7, 1d6=5

Second hob 2d4+2=8, 1d6=3, First gob 2d4+2=9, 1d6=1, Second gob 2d4+2=7, 1d6=3, Third gob 2d4+2=4, 1d6=6

Liberty's Edge

Bengal moves efficiently, slitting each of the gobbos throat's quietly and leaving them lifeless and still.

LOOT

Spoiler:
Masterwork Longsword(medium) x2
Javelin(medium) x 4
Light steel shield(medium) x2
Morningstar(small) x3
Javelin(small) x6
Light steel shield(small) x3

The room that the goblins were resting outside of looks to be another barracks. There are five crude beds and a number of sacks that look like they are filled with foul smelling, half-rotten foods.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Wrinkling her nose in disgust, Bengal searches around the room to see if there is anything hidden that might be of interest.
