Male Gnome Wizard-1

If the leader isn't dropped this round i'm actually gonna move over by kolgun while pulling out a Cure Light Wounds potion and then strike at the leader with telekinetic fist. whether the fights ends that round or not, the next round i'll be downing the potion down kol's throat.

Telekinetic fist (1d20+3=14, 1d4=2)

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

On her turn, Bengal will quickly move up to the human, striking out at him.

Tumble: (If needed) 1d20+8=25

1d20+5=17, 1d4+1=5

Should Thel bring the human down before her turn, Bengal will then move over to the tied up elf to get him down.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Next Round

Thel steps forward, using a Korvasian fighting stance, and attacks with both daggers simultaneously, drawing out long scars as the blades cut open the degenerates chest in a crossing X pattern.

Attack Rolls
1d20+3=16, 1d20+3=15

Damage Rolls
1d4+1=2, 1d4+1=4

Kind of paltry this round...*shrug*...we'll see if it's enough

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

still no luck. i need better dice or a better technique
1d100=20

Liberty's Edge

It looks like we have a case of the post monster on our board. We had a post up here briefly from Aldrin saying that on his turn at the start of the next round he was going to use one of his potions on the dwarf, but now its gone. Still shows one more post in the number of posts though. Thats always weird. Still, especially with combat ending, I'm going to go with that. Hopefully he can repost soon.

Thel's blades leave the degenerate's chest open wide enough that its death howl is more of a hiss when it falls to the ground.

When Bengal reaches the elf on the altar, she sees that he is manacled, but in reasonably good condition other then what looks to be a wound across his wrist that has been poorly bandaged.

The gnome dips down and administers one of his healing potions to the dwarf, bringing him back to consciousness.Thats 8 hit points back, Kol.

We can leave the round by round at this point again. Rav, you are there and in statistically in good condition, even if you have been poorly treated. Just let me know what you guys are up to in this room and whether you feel lucky enough to press on or if you are falling back. I know that was a fairly rough fight.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

[the elf looks weak and speaks quietly]
thank you very much, My name is loren silverleaf and i am at your service,
i suggest we leave this foul place and get back to the nearest town
I need some rest and some time to recover my spells
please help me look for my equipment, it is around here somewhere

is loren's equipment around somewhere? he really needs his ring and spellbook!
it seems much of the action happens while i am asleep (im on british time!) so i will try to predict what my character will want to do.
some assumptions
Loren's default in combat is to use his hand of the apprentice with his longsword.
when wandering around he will try to stay in the middle of the party and near a wall where possible.
at the moment i suggest we go and rest up, after resting for a day or so Loren will be up for returning to the dungeon, Loren does not really want to return to the dunegeon but he owes your characteres a life debt and must now save each one of their lives,

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun looks around wearily, then places his hand on the gnome’s arm . . . . .
”I’ll not forget this" he manages weakly. He silently thanks Torag the Protector for keeping that beast’s savage blow from killing him outright. His spirit is still strong.

He examines his injuries and realizes that he’s still physically very weak, however.

Once he can gather enough strength he’ll speak with the rest of the group to determine their level of fitness, then say a prayer and Channel Energy for starters.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Thel looks at the dwarf who was nearly killed, and the elf rescued from his tormentors, then down at his own body. "By the gods, these scars might impress the ladies, but the pain is worse than a stingray bite. I suggest we head back to Brindenford and patch ourselves up." Sheaths his daggers and helps the dwarf to his feet. "Don't know how many more of these hobgoblins I can face."

After the dwarf is on his feet, closes the door to the torture chamber, and will search the room for anything of value that might be traded for a healing potion or two...

Perception (sight): 1d20+1=19

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun struggles to his feet and walks over to the tibbit, ”Bengal” he says and sets one hand on her shoulder. His holy symbol shines briefly . . .

Spoiler:
Cure Light Wounds 1d8+1 healing, I’ll let you roll as my rolls are in the tank lately

He rummages through his pack and removes his work hammer and a spike. If the tibbit can't free Loren from his manacles, a few deft strikes should do the trick.

The exertion catches up to him, and he sits down to catch his breath."Perhaps a trip back to town would do us all some good."

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Cure light: 1d8+1=8

"Thank you friend, I very much needed that." She then reaches into her bag, and pulls out her thieves tool, looking to the elf and then getting to work at freeing him.

Disable device: 1d20+8=23

"It is too bad we could not have met under better circumstances Loren, but I am glad we were able to save you. I am Bengal, and I agree that it would likely be a good idea to fall back a bit. There is a tavern not too far from here where we started off."

Liberty's Edge

Loren

Spoiler:
You would know that your goods would be in the chamber south of here(labeled as 5 on the map). That would have been where you and the 4 who were in this room spent most of their time, it was essentially their bedchamber.

Thel

Spoiler:
Searching around the room, there doesn't seem to be any hidden treasure, however behind some of the curtains and hidden behind the altar you notice images of fey cavorting in the woodlands and star filled skies in places where the paint has peeled back. It doesn't seem this was always an evil temple.

Loot(for everyone, just spoilering it so it doesn't take up too much room.

Spoiler:
Studded Leather x4
Falchion
Javelin x8
Battleaxe
Greatclub
Masterwork Longsword
Light Steel Shield
33gp
68sp
61cp

The leader also had two small keys on him.

Loren, we have been moving at quite a quick pace recently, but I don't think you need to worry about missing out on too much in most cases unless you are going to be gone for more then a day. There is a lot of back and forth chatter and planning, but I normally will try and give a full day for everyone to make their posts unless I have heard that you aren't likely to be around on a given day, before I do any control of you. I'd much rather let the players do their own thing when possible.

Liberty's Edge

Bengal is able to pop open the lock of the manacles pretty easily, freeing the elf from his capture.

Loren

Spoiler:
Just something else I hadn't thought of, that you would be aware of in some way. The beastmen would have been using your blood on this altar to perform some sort of rite. If you have a knowledge(religion) you could make it to see if you understood what they were doing.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Thel points out a few images painted on the walls, behind the curtains which depict fey cavorting in the woods, and skies full of stars. The walls have been painted over with a crude paint which has for the most part covered up the images.

"Guess this wasn't always a torture chamber..."

Counting all the coins found, Thel sighs. "Probably not even enough here for a single potion."

Thel looks around the temple of pain for anything that Methrondir might want to buy.

thankyou so much for rescuing me, i am afraid that i must request another favour from you, i belive my equipment is through that door to the south (5) i really need to get my spellbook and ring as i am a wizard, please let us do so now, i can help with the combat if i can use that longsword we have found [the masterwork one under loot]

i have marked the mastwerwork longsword on my equipment assuming everyone is ok we me having it (i can give it back later if someone else wants it),i have adjusted my hand of the apprentice skill accordingly, Tarlane i do not have knowledge religion but will describe to to kolgun what has happend to me, also can i cast any of my spells?

Liberty's Edge

I'm alright with you having your spells ready as they would have gotten the drop on you pretty quickly and then manacled you, and it sounds like you guys will be pulling out shortly anyway. I'll allow Kol to make the knowledge religion, since you spoke the languages they did so you should be able to describe the rites pretty well. Also, as a side note on Hand of the Apprentice(its limiting factor, I found this out because I'm playing a wizard elsewhere). Basically since it acts like mage hand you can't lift anything magically with it, so that masterwork weapon is about the best you can get.

Knowledge Relgion DC 18

Spoiler:
It sounds as if the orc was sacrificing his blood to this 'beast god' of theirs. They believed that giving the blood to the altar they would receive a blessing from the beast god and gain a hint of the power of the one they sacrificed.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

As the group gathers around Loren, Kolgun grasps his holy symbol lightly. His lips form a silent prayer and you feel a wave of energy flow from the small silver shield in his hands . . . .
Channel Energy All living beings within 30’ Healed for 1d6=6
He stands a little straighter, if not taller . . .

Kolgun listens to Loren’s account of the vile ritual performed in the chamber and relates its disgusting purpose to Loren the group. 1d20+5=23

"Allow me to rest a moment longer, Loren, and I believe we can recover your possessions."

Liberty's Edge

I realize I didn't quite answer Thel's question above about searching around further. Beyond the loot picked off the bodies and the hidden murals, it doesn't look like much is in this room besides the blood stained altar.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

After catching his breath Kolgun is able to Channel Energy again, . . . .
Channel Energy (1d6=4)

He stands with renewed vigor and looks about the room
”These evil worshipers must be brought low.” he growls.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Thel scoffs. "I don't remember ever agreeing to taking on some goblin cult." Pondering for a moment, Thel finishes his thought... "Although, they do seem to be in the way of finding the riches rumored to be in here. Agreed...we'll kill the beasties and take their loot."

1 short of max hp, so I'm good to go for another fight.

Male Gnome Wizard-1

"Anything to help out a friend, Kol. By the way, I seem to be burned out of my useful arcane abilities. I'm glad we found you when we did, friend elf, or I would be worried. Good to know there's a fellow practitioner of the arcane art in the group!"

There isn't really anything in the loot that aldrin wanted, so whose keeping track of it all? Just wondering, so i know who to ask if something comes up. Didn't know if we were party pooling or splitting it up. I'm cool with either. I might be a little pre-occupied for posting for a few days. Playing Eve-online, and my corp is at war, so things are a little hectic. But i'm still gonna be able to post at least a few times later in the night.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

it is good to meet all of you, and i am very grateful, perhaps we can save further introductions for later, shall we go and investigate the room to the south where my equipment should be? who will lead? sorry to rush you but i feel very vulnerable without my spellbook!

Walking to the southern door, Thel addresses Loren, "Don't worry elf, we'll find your lost spell book."

At the door, Thel peeks underneath the door (that last fight could have gone better), and listens for any sounds.

After repacking his gear Kolgun steps near Thel and Loren . . .

"They kept your gear beyond those double doors?" he whispers?

Loren, do you have access to the map? Tarlane can help you with that. I think there might be some confusion re: door to south and "5"

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

yup! i do have access to the map, sorry for any confusion, it is the chamber marked as 5

sorry kolgun my head hurts and im a bit confused, my items are around here somewhere

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

She stays quiet as she listens to the rest of them, waiting to see what they decide to do.

Liberty's Edge

No confusion, the double doors actually lead to chamber 5 as well.

Peeking as best as he can beneath the doors Thel can just see an extremely long hall lit by a few lamps. It appears to be empty, but from that angle you can't make out many other details.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Whispering . . .
"Bengal, you stealthy footpad, do you feel up to scouting the corridor? Trust, we'll be close to aid you."

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Bengal smiles widely, "Oh yes, I can do that."

She then heads down the hallway, trying her best to stay quiet.
Stealth 1d20+12=26

Liberty's Edge

Opening the door and moving into the next room, you see a tattered and stained red carpet runs most of the length of this long hall. Moth-eaten tapestries of mounted knights and hilltop castles hang on the wall. At the far eastern end stands a large wooden throne surrounded by empty kegs and dirty wooden plates and mugs.

The door to the north, east of where you are entering hangs open, showing what looks to be a disheveled mess, with four beds, a table, some chairs, and a lot of ale. Even from the entrance you can see a long wooden box beneath one of the beds.

These rooms look to be currently uninhabited.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Bengal walks into the room, keeping her weapon out as she goes to the box and searches for traps.

Perception: 1d20+7=20

Liberty's Edge

The box does not appear to be trapped, but it is locked.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

Bengal puts her weapon away for the time being, as she takes out her thieves tools and goes about getting the box opened.

Disable Device: 1d20+8=22

Liberty's Edge

Bengal manages to pop open the lock on the box smoothly. Once unlocked the box opens easily. It contains a variety of mostly worthless items such as clothing, a brush, paper, chalk, and so on, as well as a set of masterwork thieves' tools, a healer's kit, a yellow agate wrapped in an old rag, a pouch with 100gp, and Loren's pack.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

She takes the masterwork thieves tools for herself, then takes back the rest of the items for the others.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Thel eyes the gold pieces. "Now we're making some progress!" Turning his eyes to the group, he gauges whether they're likely to keep moving forward into the dungeon...

Not rolling a heal check, just looking to see how battered/exhausted we are in general.

Male Gnome Wizard-1

"I suggest now that we have your gear, we head back to town to recuperate. I'm sure you could use it after what you've been through. Besides, now that we know whats in the first parts of this delve, we might better be able to prepare for the next trek."

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

Kolgun’s eyes gleam at the agate as he asses its worth (dwarves will be dwarves). . .
Appraise plus Greed - (1d20+4=17)

”I feel strong enough to continue, but understand the need to rest. I only fear that those we prepare for may take that time to prepare for us.

m Elf wizard 7 conjurer (probably)

i will assume i am now fully equipped, Tarlane how do you see me being able to use the hand of the apprentice, lets say i suddenly see an orc, i win inaitive, i use my ability and attack (do i provoke?) can i use it with a weapon i have in my hand (I would like a default action of mine at low level to be that I draw a weapon whenever we start combat, it may give me a free AOO or confuse an opponent into thnking i may not a spellcaster.

let us go and rest, it is foolishness to fight without our full arcane might at our disposal

Liberty's Edge

Well the ability is supposed to be able to draw a weapon as a free action and make attacks as a standard. I don't see that working any differently if the weapon was already in your hand and you just willingly relenguished it. As a spell-like ability, it won't provoke attacks of opportunity.

It sounds like you are leaning towards resting, but I'll let you firmly decide one or another before I have anything further to post.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1
Kolgun wrote:

"Nothing seemed to stir while we were fighting. I would suggest we go back to town and restock supplies before venturing any deeper."

Looks to the party for a decision.

Male Dwarven Cleric / 1st Level

”Then rest it is. I’m sure there’s a pint of ale back at the lost shepherd waiting for me” he says with a grin.

Male Human Swashbuckler 1

Thel packs up the treasures and weapons they found, getting ready to head back into town. "We'll see what these weapons sell for...Not much I'd imagine."

He heads back towards the main hallway, waiting for the rest of the party.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

She nods and follows, "Yes, I think going back to the tavern would be a very good idea."

Liberty's Edge

I'm home sick today, so not checking the boards as much as I normally would. I wanted to put up a description now, since it sounds like you guys are heading back, though if you guys are standing around and getting some RP in, or just not leaving quite yet, feel free to delay this for a bit. In any case, I'll check in later and answer anything you guys put up.

When you step out of the dimness of the Dragon's Delve into the bright light of the early afternoon, it is easy to be stunned by how little time has passed since you entered just a couple hours before. You are all a little more battered and bruised, a little more experienced, and your coin purse was just a little heavier then it was before. You each gain 200xp from that last fight.

The return trip to Brindenford is an easy one, walking the short trek over the low rolling hills only takes about an hour and well before that you are passing farms and other people again, helping you shake off the dangers of the dungeon.

The Lost Shepherd itself is open for business when you arrive, Methrondir eagerly popping to his feet to greet you. "Welcome my new friends. Back so soon are we? Did you uncover our fortunes already?"

If you offer Methrondir the weapons:

Spoiler:
Methrondir looks rather unimpressed with the meager take, shaking his head. "I'm afraid that such goods would not even cover my traveling expenses to deal with my suppliers, not to mention the damage to my reputation if I tried to bring such things to market. I believe that Teigel Fascher, of Faschers supply on the south end of town would be more to your liking for such transactions."

"He built there with the hope of catching the eye of adventurers on their way out of town to the delve. Damn fool never considered that he might get a few more customers if he placed a sign out front. Though I suppose I cannot be too critical of one with an unconventional store front. If you look for the storefront in the south that doesn't tell you its a store, you'll find it. He'll be there, if he's not off chasing pretend dragons with a wooden sword." Methrondir shakes his head again at that.

The rest of the tavern seems much as you left it previously, the same lack of customers except for the dwarf, who while not as intoxicated as he was the previous evening is certainly working his way there. Your arrival prompts the halfling to peek his head out of the kitchen quickly to see what new patrons they may have, though when he sees that you are not someone new, he slips back inside less interested.

Perception(sight based) Check: DC 15

Spoiler:
You notice that while the halfling does duck back into the kitchen again, you can make out the outline of his feet still standing against the door through the light from beneath, as if he were listening to try and pick out any conversation from the main room.

The barmaid, Taran, waits to see if you sit before she approaches anyone who settles in with a smile. "What can I get for you tonight? The first ale is on the house for anyone who returns from the delve."

As noted the first time you guys were here, a room above the tavern is 5 sp a night and has two beds. For an additional 5 sp you can rent a padlock for the door. Meals in the taproom are hot, generous, and tasty, with surprising variety. They cost 5 sp as well, although for 3 sp one can buy something lighter, simpler, and cold. Ale is plentiful but nothing special (4 cp per mug). The bar also offers wine by the pitcher for 2 sp, and offers excellent whiskey at 1 sp per glass.

Female Tibbit Rogue 1 (Favored class Rogue)

As she enters the tavern, she waves to the halfling. She then looks to the barmaid and shakes her head, "I don't need anything thank you." She looks to the group, "Well, now that we are out of danger, I am going to get more comfortable. I will be able to hear you all, but don't expect me to answer." She grins, then spends the time she needs to change back into cat form.

Perception: 1d20+7=17

Methrondir shakes his head again at that.

Irritated by Methrondir, Thel walks with the party to the inn. At the door, he explains that he's going to go and find this Fascher, and unload the weapons.

Heads south...

Perception at Lost Shepherd (1d20+3=23)

then heads out to find a blacksmith. He’ll offer his services, free, to shape a horseshoe, mend a tool, or whatever need may be. Every act of smithing is a prayer to Torag.

Afterward, he’ll return to his room in at the tavern, read his familiar copy of Hammer and Tongs and ask for renewed strength for the ‘morrows trials. CLW (1d8+1=4)

Finally, he’ll make his way down to the main room to buy a pint of ale for himself and any of his companions.

Spoiler:
Fascher's supply is easy enough to find now that you know what to look for. When you enter the shop, you see a man who seems average in every respect, average height and looks, average clothes, and just plain brown hair and eyes.

The store itself is amazingly cluttered, piled with just about every good you could imagine, from tack and rope to things like manacles, alchemist fire, and a wide supply of exotic weaponry in a variety of qualities, though it doesn't look like there is anything truly magical about beyond the odd ever-burning torch.

When you enter, the proprietor lights up immediately in a broad grin. "A new customer? Gosh, wonderful! You an adventurer?" He tilts his head, looking you over and doesn't wait for a response. "I bet you are! You have that look about you. Bet you've got great stories to tell too! Perhaps you'll share some with me?"

He pauses as if realizing he should probably try for a little business too, though he's obviously bustling with energy and much more interested in any stories then a sale. [b]"You need some goods? Got something to sell? Fascher's Supply has got all you need! I'm Teigel Fascher! You can call me Fascher. Most do."

Fascher isn't very interested in purely treasure items, but he will buy and sell just about anything that can be of standard use in a dungeon. Any gear, alchemical items, standard weapons, and costly but common spell components(like pearls or diamond dust) can be purchased here. He only has about 300gp available on hand, but he is more then willing to accept trade. He'll buy stuff for 50% value as standard, but if you trading it for something else rather then selling, he'll give you 60%.

Taran is a bit surprised again by the cat's changing appearance, though she returns with a cup of milk this time, scratching bengal behind the ears as she sets it down. She then looks to the others to see if any of them are interested in anything.

Kolgun

Spoiler:
Setting out looking for some smithing work, you find quick acceptance among the mining guild. The village doesn't have a true smith, just several who fill in as needs crop up, and the loggers often find themselves trying to straighten saw teeth on their own.

Whedon Rasholt, a middle aged human runs the guild and welcomes you eagerly. Even offering to pay you a modest wage for any sevices you would render and willing to offer the same in the future if you were willing to lend a hand.
