Hello all! This is my very first play-by-post so I am quite excited. I am really not sure what I am getting myself into but my friend tells me that this is an awesome site with a supportive community.
The setting: My story is going to take place in pretty much a huge labyrinth. The structure is giant and covers many different regions so there will be plenty of different environments and types of enemies. The nature of the setting makes it ideal for people to make any type of character they want with almost no limit on races.
The characters: I want to start off with just the two characters I have in it already. One of them is mine and the other belongs to my good friend. He was my first real life DM and it is really awesome that he is helping me do this. Thanks! I do plan on having chances for other people and characters to join in but I want to get the feel for this before I get anyone else invested in it. I would really like to add people who think they might enjoy this!
Other information: Since I have a job and go to school I will post at least once a day but sometimes twice. I want this to be an epic adventure and I envision plenty of gritty action.
I am not sure what else I need to let people know so feel free to ask questions or give me pointers. They are much appreciated!
Also, the actual play-by-post is not up yet because facebook is doing server maintenance and everything is in that inbox.

The premise of your game sounds interesting, and I wish you the best of luck. Only question I have is what game system are you using? Once you iron things out, and allow others. I might be interested in joining.
Well, we arent actually using a system ;)!. Meldiriel and I both adore the storytelling aspect of roleplaying and are pretty much crafting a fantasy story together through play-by-post.

Awesome. So far it's been real fun just crafting this story together. Meldiriel wants to put what we have so far up in the play by post forum and post some new stuff before she allows new people in. She wants to be sure that it's good enough to put up on the paizo. It is good enough btw!

Sounds great! I will keep a lookout for it.

The play-by-post is started!
Ok I put the first story post in the play-by-post. Sorry about it taking so long. My connection was giving me grief. nrtrandahl will have to put up his post. We have made nine posts thus far on facebook and I think we will be taking turns getting them all up so we can edit them.
Also, I made a new alias for the GM aspect to be separate from my character. I was reading other people's play-by-posts and it looked like a good idea.

I am glad you are interested! I would definitely love to have you join. What kind of a character would you make?
Well I would like to make something that would compliment the group. I am very familiar with the Norse culture. So I can easily make a persona from there. I can play a warrior type if you would like me to keep it simple. Mostly it depends on what would be good to round the group out. The Norse outlook on the world would definately make for interesting roleplay.

That sounds like it would fit quite nicely into the story. I really like the idea of a Norse warrior! Just so you know, you wouldn't have to make a class to fit with the group. As long as it makes for a good story, I am all for it. I guess I would just go read what we have up so far and see if you like it. I will warn you that it starts our kinda slow.

Like what you have written so far. Every good epic starts slow. Just let me know when you want to insert me into the story. Will post my Avatar here so you will know who he is.
Do you want me to pick equipment for my character?

Well we have pretty much written our characters meeting and kind of them taking off on their journey. They are about to come to their first encounter.
Our characters started off with just loincloths because they started at the very beginning of the maze. It would be easiest to make you a character who has been in the maze for a little while that way you will have equiptment. It would probably be easiest to meet you in the first town they come across. Tell me your thoughts on this. I had kind of planned for people to come into the labyrinth in small groups so if you want to think of what happened to the rest of your group then you can tell us in game or something. Some of the options I can think of would be death by monsters or other humanoids, they gave up, caught by the slavers, or if you have another idea just let me know.
As for equiptment, pretty much basic adventuring gear would be preferred. You can choose whatever weapon or armor. I am sorry I haven't really gotten into the details of the setting very much. I don't envision it having alot of magical gear or like uber-weapons. The point of it is to survive and try to make it out so people for the most part are focused on those two goals. That doesn't mean that there can't be cool gear but I want it to be pretty rare.

Starting in a town is fine. Figured my character would be drinking in the local tavern. As far as getting there. The Norse always had a fear of the fog. That it's a gateway to other worlds. There are spirits that lure the unwary away and steal there souls. Figured my party made camp during such a fog. When I awoke everyone was gone except for there equipment.
As far as gear I will write up a basic list of equipment on my character profile. Just let me know when to start posting.

Sounds good! These first ones are the ones that we did on facebook and we are trying to transfer them over. It might take a bit to do since we only get to every once in awhile.

Thats fine. In the meantime I can work fleshing out my background. Think I will add in the slavers idea you put in as well. That I need to rescue a female drow who was my partner when I entered the labyrinth with. Joined with this other group that disappeared. So I am back at the tavern trying to recruit more people to help me. Course I don't know the difference between a Dark elf and a High elf. They are all just children of Frey.
Really enjoy how you both are setting the tone and the atmosphere. Feels like I am reading a novel more than being in a pbp.

Lol, well you got me beat on speaking Old Icelandic. I do have a huge collection of norse saga's though.

Lol, then I better bring my A game. Have to decide where my character is from. Perhaps I should be from Permia. Thats not covered alot.
As for my favorite Saga's I have to say The Volsunga Saga, and Arrow-Odd.
Hope you both have a nice Easter.
Thanks. I hope your easter was good too.

So I decided that for combat I am just going to roll a d20 to see how well each action goes. I guess just say what your action is and then as the GM I will come in and say what happened. I am not sure how well this will work but I want to give it a try. For my character I just put the results in Mel's post to make things move faster.
Unfortunately for me I always roll crappy in combat...T_T

Thats fine. Enjoying the narrative. If d20's are only for combat I should do great. I usually blow my perception rolls. I could get lost in a 5x5 room.
