Good Job, Everyone!

RPG Superstar™ 2009 General Discussion

Legendary Games, Necromancer Games

On the eve of the big reveal of the top 32, I just wanted to say "good job" to everyone, whether they are selected for the top 32 or not.

If you've read some of my posts, you know one of my themes this year was "I had to reject it, and it was too bad, too." What I mean by that is that we had a ton of near misses that for one reason or another didnt quite make it. But the overall level of inspiration and quality I think was real real good this year. There were a ton of items that had great nuggets in them. And the nurturing father in me wants to give them all a chance to grow and sprout (unlike that evil Wolfgang who just wants to yank baby plants out by their roots and laugh as they wither in the cruel hot sun; oh, wait, its the other way around, I'm the one that laughs...).

It was a pleasure to read all the submissions and I cant wait to see what the top 32 (and alts) do with their villains. I learn a ton every time I do this. It is a helpful process for us as judges.

I look forward to seeing how this contest plays out. It should be a great one!!!

Thank You Clark, Wolfgang & Sean for your time and dedication to answering people's questions and offering advice while still in the throws of trying to read and decide on the Top 32. It must have been exhausting work for you guys and we all appreciate it.

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16 aka Clandestine

It was a pleasure to read comments from the judges, to have these discussions and great input from everyone. Even if my participation in the competition ends at the first round, it has been a thrill. I can not be more thankful.

This is the first time I have entered RPG Superstar, and I would just like to thank the judges for being very visible and transparent in their process during this competition. I have learned loads already and look forward to seeing the selected entries.

It is a great process for everyone. And I can honestly say for a fact that I could not have won RPG Superstar last year. That was some amazing talent. And this year looks to be the same! I can't wait!

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16 aka NChance

Thank you judges, and thank you Paizo for having the contest. Even if I don't get picked, this was a great learning experience.

Yes, I too would like to thank the judges and Paizo for this contest. It has rekindled the creative spark that I had feared died. I've been writing so much I didn't have time to post other than this. If nothing else I walk away from this experience with my imagination alive and screaming once more. Thank you again.

This is an exciting and stressful point, right here. You wait, you wonder, you guess about what you might have done wrong or speculate on what you might have gotten right.

Thanks for being supportive, judges. It does help. :)

Regardless of the outcome, its always a pleasure to be involved in the growth of the gaming community. I'm happy to have participated.

Obviously, I'll be happier to have made it to the next round, but you can't win 'em all. ;)

Congratulations to one and all, be it the 32 and their alternates, or the rest of us and the judges. While I am disappointed that I did not make it into the 32, I am still pleased with the attempt and I will try that much harder next year.

Good luck to those moving on!

How do we find out why we were not in the top 32?

Legendary Games, Necromancer Games

If you want, you can post in my thread about my feedback and I will do my best to answer that question.

I, for one, plan to post, although I've some solid idea as to the whys of it. But, I'll wait until tomorrow. :D

I'll add my congratulations! I look forward to reading the villain concepts.

From the ranks of the rejected, I also wish to pass along my Congratulations to the top 32! The contest was indeed fierce, and its good to see there's so many talented people that want to place their mark on the Pathfinder brand!

Thank you to everyone, and especially the judges. I excessively worried my item might fall into a couple of the dreaded "bad item stereotypes" of 2009. I was pleasantly surprised...and floored!...to be selected for Top 32. Hopefully, my villain concept can surprise and delight as well.

To those that didn't make it, chin up! If you submitted something for RPG Superstar, you've already taken that bold first step. Don't stop...

My two-cents,
--Neil

Hearty congratulations to all y'all! And thanks again to the judges!

Congratulations to the top 32 and alternates. Looking forward to see what you can do in the way of villains.

Scarab Sages

Hear, hear; congrats to the 32! I can't wait to see what you bring to the competition this year!
