I have to admit, at the end of judging round 1, I was so taken with the Migrus I figured there was no way that author wouldnt win the whole thing. And I dont think I'm speaking out of school to say all the other judges pretty much felt that way, too. We LOVED that thing. It gave us the heebiejeebies and it really inspired us. We got it early in the contest and it really gave us hope that we were going to see some amazing stuff. It is still one of my favorite parts of this contest last year. In fact, I asked Mona to have the Paizo art guys whip up a quick migrus art piece to use as the contest mascot. He didnt oblige...that rat!

My comments from last year show that I didn't feel the same way, I hated the Migrus (I've grown to accept its existence).

ofcourse, invoked hatred is also a sign that the item has a superstar quality.

I really liked the Migus too. I painted a picture of it here. Paizo can use it as the RPG Superstar mascot if they wish.

I like the forlorn look. Especially considering the original campaign Migrus was devoured by giant frogs, tossed in a pit full of maggots, thrown in the path of a giant slug, used as a decoy for giant fleas, set on fire and thrown at a Halfling sheriff as a distraction, given to the natives on the Isle of Dread for stew meat, used to test how long a loggerhead's neck can snap, and so on (and on, and on).

I really liked the Migrus locker when looking for random loot to drop for my players.

I did change it up a bit.

I used a Pangolin body with the openers face.
walking around on two legs with a hunched back.

I also upped it's power.
Gave it familiar abilities that scaled with the bound PC.
The PCs of course didn't know what to make of it, and I kept control of it so they never saw it's stats.
BUT it had the parasite familiar Archetype. Which meant that occasionally while exploring, a random monster would come up and try to help... then it would inevitably die and the migrus would crawl out of it's spine like some backwards chestburster
