" So how about those coins" Bron says to Roah. After collecting his share and the plan of action for the following day, Bron says with a yawn "Well guys Im going to retire for the evening." He then turns and makes his way to his room and places his newly acquired gold in with the rest of his money and hides it in various places on his persons and heads to bed
Raoh |
"Yes the coins", Raoh feels uncomfortable about the Cheggs coins.
Taking a moment Raoh calls the Branth and the others together, "Before the snake incident, Chegg slipped me this bag of coins. Said it was for us, with his compliments."
He takes a moment and lays the bag on the table. "Personally I'd wouldn't have a problem with this. But with recent events I don't think it's a wise decision to take the coins for ourselves. I know a few of you want your share", he stares at Bron, "No offense, but I think we should find out what's going on before we take this."
"Now if you don't feel the same than please take your share. If not and you don't feel I'm trustworthy enough with the coins, I recommend Uta hold them till than" Raoh kicks himself as he recommends the holyman.
"Other than that I say we get some sleep and get this cargo outof the way in the morning."
Bron Islar |
this takes place after Bron mentions the bag of gold but before he leaves for bed
A quick flash of disappointment cross Bron's face but for a moment before it fades to his usual cool smile " Well I trust ya Roah, at least enough to hold the bag, but if you want to have the holy man" Bron stole Roah's name for Uathach " to hold on to them I'm all for that too."
Branth Bummugboar |
"Hold it, if Clegg wants to strike at Saul, he could also strike against his agents, perhaps the coins are poisoned."
Branth raises her eyebrows and grins. "Smart thinkin', godling!" Following his line of thought, she adds, "Maybe their not coins at all, but coin-shaped monsters!"
DM Dave |
The morning comes and the lack of any strange events is almost strange in and of itself. As the group of you mee and arrive at the dock, you see a wagon already off loading the cargo from the ship Saul told you to find.
"Put your backs into, you swine," yells a man in the garb of the Korvosa city guard. "The boss will have your hides if Vankaskerkin gets his cargo."
Caladan Delathia |
Breaking away from the rest of the group and hanging back from the ship as it is unloaded, Caladan moves into a position where he can hopefully get a clear shot at the hijackers. Expecting Raoh or Uathach to intercede at the dock, Caladan restrains himself from drawing his bow immediately, not wanting to provoke anything violent if he can help it, however he stands ready to assist if negotiations turn sour.
Uathach of Iomedae |
"HO THERE!, what cargo is that? Is that the cargo meant for Saul of the Golden Goblin?" Uathach says in his most cheerful non-threatening voice...Diplomacy 1d20+7=21
are we supposed to know who Vankaskerkin is?

"Not any more," says the guardsman. "Why don't you lot just take off so nobody has to get hurt."
Uathach of Iomedae |
"Corrupt City Guard, in Korvosa why am I not surprised?, If indeed you are a City Guard..." Uathach says as he readies his shield. "So you admit, that is Saul's merchandise?" Look around for witnesses, to corroborate the theft.
FLASHBACK! to the Golden Goblin before leaving..."Yes, that was a strange lack of occurence."
Bron Islar |
Noticing that Uathach is donning his shield, Bron says sarcastically to himself "Yet another dull day here at the employ of Saul" as he slips to the back of the group and stealthily draws a pair of daggers. He immediately begins to assess his surroundings and looks for any way to gain leverage should combat ensue

Raoh |
"Come now I'm sure we can settle this without pummeling each other. It would be in your and our best interests to just hand over the cargo. My friends here" Raoh points to Branth and Uta, "really have itchy sword hands and I would like to go one day without seeing someone get hurt."
Diplomacy 1d20+4=21, I find it funny the guy with nothing in Charisma uses Diplomacy the most. You'd think it'd be the paladin... Anyone other than the fighter.

Common sense tells you that since you are in Riddleport, anyone dressed as a Korvosa city guard is not acting in an official capacity, at least.
Uathach of Iomedae |
"Look, I'd rather not shed your blood until I have had an ale," the guardsman says. "It makes me cranky. But I'm willing to oblige you if you're so eager to die." He draws his sword as the grunts loading the wagon also draw weapons.
Tactical evaluation: How many grunts? Do we currently have the high ground?
Is any one around?
Uathach of Iomedae |
"Last Chance, throw down your arms, step away from Saul's merchandise, and we'll let you walk away..."
Diplomacy:1d20+7=27 wooo 20!...we seem to be missing a barbarian...she should intimidate them now... :[
DM Dave |
"Fine, we'll do it your way then," the guardman says. He lunges forward and slashes at Uathach, strikeing him squarely in the chest. 1d8+4=7 There are two thugs backing the guard up. You do have the high ground, and the place where you are standing can only be reached by a plank that is only five feet wide.

Are you using the intiative rolls posted in our profile? Or should we roll and those are only if we're away for a bit?
Branth Bummugboar |
Uh... what number initiative roll are we on? Looks like Caladan posted #1 and Raoh #3. I really don't remember where we're at.
Anyway, my ten initiative rolls are here.

Caladan Delathia |
I'm not sure what we're up to - are you waiting for me? If not, use this when it's his turn...
As combat erupts beside the ship, Caladan fires at the leader.

Sorry, real life has been intruding in my life lately. I have been helping a friend of my wife's family prepare for the funeral of their oldest son. He's been missing for 18 months and they just found his body earlier this week. Here is the Init order.

Nobody manages to hit, including the three thugs, until Uathach slams into the guardsman and knocks him into the water. The guardsman begins to claw at his armor, struggling to get it off as it drags hime beneath the surface. A dark shadow passes below Uathach and suddenly the water turns bloody red.
