Bron is right on with his shot, and the armed thug drops to the dock in a pool of blood.

Silime is up
Raoh
Brath

Uathach snaps out of it...

"Surrender now!, while you still can...run back to your boss and tell him to quit this foolish game!" [free action]

Male Half-Elf Cleric-1

Silme will use his domain power "Touch of Good" on Raoh.

Diplomacy Roll.

1d20+7=19

"No one else needs to die here today, look at our numbers, and look at yours..."

"You don't understand," the thug says. "If I don't bring this back, my family will die."

Sense Motive: 1d20+5=14

"Drop your weapons and we'll see what can be done about that...perhaps we can get you out of Riddleport..."

Detect evil

Hold my action until I see what the baddies decide to do

Male Human Rogue 1

Bron knocks another arrow but holds it as talks ensue from the paladin and the thug

"and your family of course..."

Finally, the thug lowers his sword. "Give me your word that my family will be safe," he says.

"I give my word that I will do my best to get you and your family out of Rippleport."

"Very well," the swordsman says. "But if any harm comes to my family, you had better pray to the gods that they get you before I do."

The man is evil by Uathach's estimation, but he is also sincere.

Raoh sheathes his blade, "What in the Nine Hells is going on? From picking up a simple delivery, now we're dealing with something else entirely"

Male Half Elven Ranger - 2

Caladan keeps his position. Although he lowers his bow slightly, he remains ready to act, should the men on the dock try anything underhand.

Male Human Rogue 1

Bron lowers his bow but doesnt shoulder it right away and responds to Raoh "Aye by the looks of it."

"Get this shipment to Saul, I'll see to my ward here...I might need someone to accompany me though."

Spoiler:
Gather his family and bring them to Saul's. Keep them under guard of course, for their protection and ours. Arrange for them to have passage to Mendev, and give them 20 gold for the trip. Write a letter to the head of the order of Iomedae's church in Mendev, to help set these refugee's of Riddleport.

"This demon needs to be brought down...threatening families is low, even for Riddleport."

Male Human Rogue 1

"Aye captain" Bron responds mockingly and with a smile to the paladin, as he shoulders his weapon and begins to unload the shipment

Raoh follows Bron and begins helping with the cargo.

raises an eyebrow "Bron, I have not reached the rank of Captain in my order...I was not attempting to command you, rather than let you continue with our mission for Saul, while I assist this person..."

turns to the former adversary "What is your name? Where might we find your family?"

"My name is Therik," he says. "My family lives in the Rotgut District, over by the old mission house." Now that you are up close with him, you realize that he can't be much older than 14 or 15.

"Very well Therik, let's find your family...Has anyone ever talked to you about Iomedae?"

Is this a major tangent to the story? I know the first time I got someone out of the city, you just pretty much bypassed it.

Yes, this is building to something.

Okay, who is staying to take tha cargo back to Saul and who is going with Uathach

Raoh is helping with cargo and I think Bron is aswell

"Who knew that's I wake up today and be taking orders from the holy man"

Male Half Elven Ranger - 2

Caladan will go where he is needed. If most are helping with the cargo, he will accompany Uathach. As the group begins to aplit up, Caladan will be looking around in case these men's employer has anyone watching the docks.

Perception check (if required). (1d20+11=16)

Male Human Rogue 1

Bron responds to Raoh " Aye I heard that." Bron then gives a slight chuckle and says "Well, could be worse... when I think of one I will let ya know"

It looks like Bron and Raoh have the cargo well in hand. Caladan is free to go with Uathach. Caladan doesn't see anyone that looks like a spy, but this is Riddleport so you never know. I will be moving the Uathach plot along tomorrow, so I need to know what Branth and Silme are going to do.

Male Half Elven Ranger - 2

"What can I do to help?" Caladan asks Uathach, moving up beside the paladin and stowing his bow. Moving closer he murmurs quietly, "What's your plan? The few of us are going to struggle to protect the families of everyone here, I would think."

Slumps slightly

"Agreed, but I must help those who ask, or those I pledge to help with my last breath. It's what Iomedae would do..."

"I do not attempt to lead, I am only doing what must be done Caladan."

Male Human Rogue 1

it has recently come to my attention that the person that i have left in charge of my dnd games (my younger brother) has been cheating on his/ my rolls... as of right now not sure how many games he has done this to but i have already taken actions to keep it from happening again... i have changed all my passwords and banned him from using my accounts... sorry for any problems this may have cuased

"I agree," says Caladan, "and I'll help where I can. Whether you intend to lead or not, I intend to follow," he concludes with a smile.

Uathach turns to Therik, "Lead on Therik,"

Examine Therik with detect evil.

"Know this boy; if you lure us into a trap, you will be the first to die. But also know this; I will give my life to help your family get out from under evil's yoke."

If he does not register as evil
"Perhaps when you reach Mendev, you could give over your life to Iomedae, and do her bidding, fight the evil of the world."

"Tell me Therik, were your allies families also under threat?"

Uathach of Iomedae wrote:
"Tell me Therik, were your allies families also under threat?"

"I do.., I don't know," He says. "I had never met any of them before this morning."

"Settle down boy, tell me about your family..."

did I detect evil in him? are his words true (sense motive +5/you can roll for me.)

His words are true. He is not evil, at least not yet. He is just scared.

The kid leads you to an alley outside his house. You see three thugs lounging outside, trying very hard to look like they are not up to anything.

Steps out of sight, then quietly asks, "So, who are those guys?, are they the ones he sent to intimidate you?"

[readies his shield and loosens his blade in the scabbard as he scans them with detect evil

Most definatly evil.

Male Half Elven Ranger - 2

Standing at Uathach's shoulder, Caladan also checks that his weapon is free, ready to fight if necessary as he scans the surrounding area.

And does the kid answer my question?

As Uta contiues his affairs, Raoh finishes the loading of the Saul's property.

"So let's get this back to the Goblin"

"Yeah, those look like the guys," he says.

"Were there more inside, or should this be all we encounter?"

"Caladan, any ideas? I wish the rest were here now, I didn't expect so many..."

Caladan spends a few moments appraising the situation, absentmindedly stroking the holy symbol hanging around his neck. Finally he shakes his head somewhat ruefully.

"There's no way around it - there's three of them and only two of us, unless our new friend is willing to fight for his own freedom," he comments quietly. "Of course, you are an imposing sort. Perhaps the two of us will be sufficient to frighten them long enough to spirit our charges away. Maybe we can persuade them it would be prudent to return to their boss and 'report' rather than to get in our way. It's not much of a plan, but if you and I concentrate our attacks on whoever their leader turns out to be - the other two might flee as soon as he is dispatched..." Caladan trails off with a slight shrug.

"I'm not much used to things like this," he confesses. "But I'm willing to bet that they're not going to quietly pack up and go home, just because we ask them to."

"And with the odds against us, we need surprise. That and attacks in daylight, are frowned upon even in Riddleport"

"I shall approach and attempt to talk to them, if they become aggressive, I suspect you'll have my back."

Sorry to the rest of the party for splitting the group...I'll try to make this quick. Hopefully our glorious DM can make your side exciting as well.

Male Human Rogue 1

no worries here... gives me a break from posting =P work has been really hectic lately so ive only been able to get to half my games per day... but a little action for the return trip maybe cool... wink wink nudge nudge

with those words, Uathach bravely steps out from behind the building and strides forward undaunted

"Ho there ruffians, leave this family in peace. Return to your master and let him know Saul is tired of his under-handed dealings. Or you may leave in peace. I would not be so bold if I weren't so well protected."

Diplomacy: 1d20=13=7=20

Bluff: (uh-oh)
1d20=6+3=9

Uathach seems to have undermined himself, with his poorly worded bluff.
