Formians got cut? I'm surprised. Not because I think they're great monsters, but because I would have sworn that Axis had formians.
Then again, there's a certain symettry to it, unless Proteans (the Slaad replacements IIRC) do make the book.
Axis does have formians. There will be more than one Pathfinder Bestairy, and chances are quite good that monsters from the SRD that don't make the cut in Pathfinder Bestairy 1 will show up in Pathfinder Bestairy 2.

Not as strong as, say, the girallon or the rhemoraz, but strong enough that I'd like to keep them around in a secondary or tertiary monster book, probably as inhabitants of the Green Planet Castrovel rather than some sort of modron replacement.
Mmm. Castrovel. Someone really should write it into more Pathfinder products.

For the animals, just give them progression as they advance in HD from basic to dire to legendary. Beef up how tough they get as they advance in HD.
I would like to see resolution with the whole formian /thri kreen / insect race. I like the concept, I'd like it to be kept in, but I'd like it to be consistent.

I loves me destrachans. Many an adventurer has followed a musical humming noise in the Underdark, thinking perhaps they have found some freindly creature, because as we all know, music is beautiful and what is beautiful can't be evil. Right...keep on thinking that.
They round the corner to find a destrachan hunched over a paralyzed humanoid, humming that beautiful melody, even as the concentrated sound waves are slowly exploding the poor humanoids bones from within, and liquifying its organs in a slow and torturous death.
The destrachan humms a final note at the victims head, which collapses like a deflating balloon. Coming up out of its crouch, it turns its eyeless face towards the newly arrived adventurers, and one lilting, humming word escapes its mouth.
"Encore?"
For some reason, PCs don't want to fight my destrachans after I introduce them. I wonder why....

Something occurred to me that absolutely HAS to be in there.
WATER ELEMENTALS.
And all the non-proprietary Dark Sun, Ravenloft, Planescape, and Spelljammer creatures they can cram in.
Really though I'd be happy just to see all the old first edition AD&D Monster Manual, Monster Manual II, and Fiend Folio creatures updated reliably.

First off, I love Ogre Mages and I love even more (as suggested above) recasting them as Oni. It was suggested that Ogre Mages don't "fit" with Golarion's view of Ogres, but the APs haven't traveled to the East yet, where I think the Ogre Mages might fit in really well.
That said, let me make a plea for the much maligned Yrthak.
Please don't ditch it. With a little love, this monster could be awesome. Don't cast it aside just yet.
I hated the Yrthak when I first saw it. They're horribly underutilized, and the artwork in the Monster Manual doesn't do them any favors. As written, they just come across as a lame "sonic monster."
Then I rented the movie Pitch Black a few years ago.
If the Yrthak could be recast to act and look more like the bioraptors in Pitch Black, they could be really cool. Make them dark, have them avoid sunlight, have them attack in packs and communicate in clicks and echoes (and they have sonic abilities to boot!), etc.
I really like how other monsters have been reimagined by Paizo, and I think you guys could do wonders for the Yrthak.
Just my two cents, but I figured I better make my plea now before the list is set in stone.
