You want suggestions for theme? take the one I suggested last time. "Average people". not your ripped and sensual adventurers, but your one-legged shopkeep, your slovenly drunkerd, your burn-afflicted begger. your rotund and matronly baker or inn-keep. etc.
That's exactly what I was thinking! That would give me an opportunity to experiment with new dimensions and more roughed lines!!! So, I'll take more suggestion in the couple weeks if anyone has any. If not, I'll go for Kessu's idea.

"Avarage people" sounds good

other to themes that come to mind

-"Priests" - different outlooks for priests (non-adventurers) of different deities (not everyone is a cleric)
-"Soldiers of the Land" - Guards, soldiers of different counties and cities... butnot adventuringones... more liek city guards, professional soldiers, etc

Also, Hugo. The next time you draw something, would it be possible to show a step-by-step, ie. showing the frame, the "bulking-out", the "dressing", details, inking, penciling etc.?

I think this will help all those budding artists out there. Personally, I really want to get back into drawing, but need some help to get away from still-life. (Don't worry if it's too much work).

Cheers! :D

Here you go ComicJam:

Step by Step

Unfortunately I missed the first "skeleton" part.

Soon I'll post another step-by step. Glady I cut the proccess down but now I take longer to do the shading... so no time saving there :P

Montalve: Actually my idea is to flesh out the culture of Golarion, so whatever commission theme comes next will be culture oriented. I'm still missing some races, classes and cultures, so maybe I'll request more commissions in a a more direct way, like: "I'm looking for a half orf paladin" or a "Varisian female bard" so I can fill both races and cultures. I was hoping to tackle this on december but another big project may get in the way....

sounds reasonable Hugo, i went for priests and guards because after reading 'gods and magic' (I love that book) you can see that Desna could have a bard as her priest, Urgothoa could be a vampire necromancer, Abadar and expert: accountant, so it gives abit of options

Korvosa has hellknights
Andora has eagleknights
etc :P

but i agree if you need to complete specific detailes the better is to ask for it, or see if any of the already existan falls in line

:D

Mmmm... a "Human Varisian priest of Desna" would bring two birds in one shot, a Desna Priest and a Varisian Female... But this my require too specific details narrowing down a lot the chance for it to be an actual player of this thread...Well, I have a week to think about this. Shoot more ideas if anyone has some!

Looks quite good kessukoofah. The arm looks alright to me.

I'm no artist, but if there's one thing that I think you could improve, it's that his breastplate looks a bit under-detailed and blank compared to the texture and detail you've added elsewhere. I would consider maybe having the breastplate embalzoned with some sort of image, or a sort of abstract pattern, or maybe just show a bit more articulation or some wear and tear. Otherwise, good job.

Ya, I see what you mean. I kind of wanted it to be plain to act as a counterpoint to the fancier breastplate coming up. More utility then decoration. Not really an exscuse, but it is the reason. unfortunately, it does look really "clean". maybe I'll change it later if I ever go back to it. Bit of denting or scratches. Thanks for the comment!

Yay! Varisians raining down the sky! :D

I'll post Kristine tonight! I finished shading her last night but still needs her second shading and her digital touchup. So it'll be up around 11 pm. Her frame makes her look like a short human... (which I like ;P )

LastKnightLeft, FYI, the first upload will come without any background stuff so there will be no reference for the height, I'll add a reference for the height next week, like a door or something. Any suggestions for this reference anyone?

I usually find a doorknob, chair, table, etc useful for that. It depends on where you want him to be. if it's a cave, you're kindof out of luck. an inn has many referance heights. and so on.

Great work Kayos and Lynora! This thread is picking very nicely!!! Beer and coffee for everyone! Lets see if someone brings the cookies... ;)

Scarab Sages

Well I got kinda bored on my lunch hour and a half, so I drew up a warforged bartender. Hopefully it'll turn out ok when I scan it. And the best part is that he isn't perfect. he's actually fat and had to sell most of his armor to keep the bar open. I couldn't really figure out a way to portray drunkard or abusive in a single pic like this, but it works ok. I'll hopefully also have the next series of life drawings up tomorrow and I'll have started on the next commission, a Halfling beguiler. another class that I can't really show in the pose in my head. oh well.

I like it Lynora, I think going for the really traditional look for a paladin works really well, mixing it up a bit by putting the focus on the bow. The surcoat and helmet design are really cool. I agree that the face has probably come out a little dark, but you can still read the detail.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! okay Kristine looks amazing, you've managed to capture her face and figure perfectly. I love it you have captured her essence, if not her personality.

You put her in an outfit she wouldn't be caught dead in, but Before the game fell apart she had been purchasing a very nice dress for nights out on the town. So I'm just gonna assume that she had a hot date and wanted to vamp it out (out of character, but like I said her psyche was a little damaged so I can get away with things that are a little out of character). I can't believe I left her bandolier out of her description, but even then your depiction of the belt loaded with potions worked wonderfully in it's place. If anything towards the end she always had like thirty alchemical brews on her person at any time so the idea that she would go out on dates all vamped out and still have like twelve potions works.

I can't emphasize enough how well you captured her face, every time I look at it I see exactly what kristine looked like.

The dress reveals the amazing body she always took effort to drown in seas of brown and grey so it works great to say that even though she could look amazing she never did. I think my DM would appreciate this. I think I'll have to revive the character soon. Thank you so much.

About the only possible nitpick I have, and it's minor because she would bury her face in books so it fits to cary them, is that the book makes her look like a spellcaster if you didn't know she was the alchemist class.

You are totally right LKL, I made Kristine from a Alchemist adventurer to a sexy potion model... I liked the drawing but maybe its a completely wrong idea... You did mentioned the bandolier but I made it into a potion girdle... Maybe I took too many liberties on Kristine and worried more to make he look sexy than adventurous.

So! I'll do something drastic about her... I'll make her on a totally adventurer/alchemist look, loaded crossbow, adventuring gear (bandolier included), and a practical dress that does not advertises a tasty snack inside :D. I may use the actual pose and modify it a bit if you don't mind, that would save me some time for the second drawing. If you have any comment on her (different shadings, bigger/smaller hair bun, differet glasses, etc, now its the perfect time to tell me).

The size reference will come in this second drawing, but I'll do Hanali first if that's ok with you.

Man dude you're like my wife, if I ask her to pass the salt at dinner she suddenly she says, "if you think my cooking is terrible then don't eat it" and she gets up to try and throw out the rest of it, despite the fact that it is delicious, and I just wanted a little salt lol. You said to be picky so I pointed it out. I think the drawing is tremendous Hugo, now don't get me wrong, having you redo her for adventure would totally kick ass, cause then I can show people what they see, and what she is capable of.

As for the potion model, that thought hadn't crossed my mind. but now that you've said it I look at the picture and I see her saying "all brews half off till sunday, you don't want to miss out on these savings" :D

Still don't change a thing about her body or face, those are so perfect you have noooo idea. I mean the second I looked at it I knew it was what I was going for in kristine. You did an amazing job. keep the figure, keep the face, the hair, the glasses, keep everything about that. If you are going to change her, do it as if she was one of those paper dolls that you folded tabbed clothing over as a kid. you know you'd have a bunch of diffent clothes but the model was always the same because I can't stress enough that you nailed her, you just made her a swimsuit model ;)

Well the thing is she's a lab rat and deals with explosives and hazardous regents all day, exposed skin is the kind of thing that winds up with acid burns and pock marked skin. So while I don't mind showing a little cleave, it doesn't really fit the character.
