Or sooner...
Willy lets out a roar and charges the ogre, and deals it a mighty downward hack with his axe.
Attack, charging, raging: 1d20+10=23
Damage, raging Overhand Chop: 1d12+12=17-4 to AC
Willy charges up the corridor he boldly trips the trap that the Ogre was deliberately avoiding but Willy manages to lumber past the now released log deadfall and heads around the corner and into the Ogre!
His axe solidly hits the Ogre whose response is to strike right back!Swings his club at Willy with +7 to hit and rolls a 2+7 for 9 which is a miss!
The Ogre's club slams into the nearby wall causing rubble to fall to the ground but leaves Willy unharmed!

Bogorin changes tactics as he hears Willy battle cry, turning he narrowly misses getting hit by the wolf whose reacting to being hit by an arrow after being knocked out of its leap by Bogorin and Talden.
Rolled a 6 and since its only listed attack is a bite, I assumed he tried a paw instead and got a total of 10 which is a miss in any case!
However as Bogorin charges past Herve he runs straight into the deadfall trap Willy triggered but managed to run past before it could catch him.
Rolled for Herve first and got a 7+5 for 12 to hit and he takes 5pts of damage and 17+5 for 22 on Bogorin since he's charging for 6pts of damage, it will now take a full round before anyone other than Willy can attack the Ogre as the way is currently blocked by the deadfall trap
Herve Esterel |
I'm also confused there .
If I understand rightly , the trap was a deadfall one (rocks ?) Willy didn't trigger it ,but bogorin did , right ? I don't understand also why I take damage since my armor is way better than 12 . Unless it was a touch AC and I 'm not sur my combat expertise would not suffice then .
Anyway , I don't understand why the way is blocked for only one round . Either it's blocked till we clear it , either boforin should be able to advance .
Also , I think Willy is in trouble . With his -4 to AC , I 'm not sure the ogre missed him .
hopeless |
Ok, I'm not sure I understand this Hopeless. If Willy already triggered the trap, how could we re-trigger it? And if it's already fallen, couldn't we just avoid it?
It was designed to catch anyone running up the passageway past the wolf's pen, although it missed Willy as he charged past as he triggered it it would however catch Bogorin because he was charging in the same round as Willy, however given the map is slightly deceiving I'll allow a reflex save versus the attack which if passed negates the damage for both Herve and Bogorin
Bogorin Rockstomper |
Due to Dwarvish Traits Hopeless, I'd like to get a Perception check to notice the trap first?
Dwarves treat any Profession skill
related to stone as a class skill. In addition, they receive
a +2 bonus on Perception skill checks to notice unusual
stonework, such as traps and hidden doors located in
stone walls or f loors. They receive a check to notice
such features whenever they pass within 10 feet of them,
regardless of whether or not they are actively looking.
EDIT: Nevermind, he got a 7 (or 9 if it's stonework) on the Perception check and an 11 on the reflex check...guess some things are just meant to be ;-)

The trap wasn't stonework but had you given yourself time you would have spotted there was something strange about the corridor. In truth I added the reflex save because it was hardly fair to Herve since he didn't charge up the corridor, since he hasn't posted and you have raised a fair comment that by all rights you would have charged when its your go rather than in response to Willy's action as I assumed reduce the damage to 3pts but the deadfall has blocked your path and will need a strength check from those trying to get past to clear it.
Herve only:
Bogorin Rockstomper |
"Blast n' damnation!" Borgorin swears as the deadfall blocks his way to Willy and the Ogre and some of the logs bash against his shins
.
Putting away his hammer the Dwarf tries to heave (1d20+2=6) some of the debris out of the way but he doesn't get a proper grip and his attempt is unsuccessful. Still, he bellows to Willy "Dinnae worry lad! We be coming fer yeh!"
Man! IC does Not like me today! :/

Tenna Milcress |
On her turn:
"Damn..damn!" Tenna thought that the wolf had been taken out of the fight, but as some of the others turned to face the greater threat, she saw it snapping at their heels.
She quickly shot another arrow at the beast, hoping she could take position quickly enough to use the special arrow as they had planned.
Talden Skard |
Seeing Bogorin turn to follow Willy Talden steps up and takes another swing at the wolf hoping to keep his attention...
Melee attack against dire wolf with battle axe (1d20+4=17, 1d8+2=8)
Willard Barnable |
hopeless, am I correct in assuming that the ogre has not yet made his normal attack for this round (the one he missed was the attack of opportunity)?
"Willy ! Defensive Combat ! "
"Here some defense!" Willy draws his axe his over his head to smash it down on the ogre again...

The ogre backs off after his blow fials to laand and seems to grab something from his belt and swallow it.
He glows a sickly black and whilst he's still wounded he doesn't seem as badly effected as he was before.Okay I reread that last bit whats stated above is the Ogre's action for this round so its now your turn

Tenna's arrow catches it in the throat sending it back to the ground as Talden finishes it off with another swing of his axe.

And now for Willy versus the Ogre round 2
Willard Barnable |
"O no you don't!"
Willy brings the axe down:

damage: 1d12+12=18
still raging, -2 to AC

Bogorin grunts as he once again tries to lift (1d20+2=13) the debris out of the way.
Can we all be aiding each other? (and if this roll is not enough, next time he will grab his hammer and try and smash his way through)
BTW Hopeless, Boggo IS multiclassing to Cleric...so what does that mean?

You're now a first level cleric in terms of what abilities you have in that class, the skills of that class are now treated as trained for you and you get to select two domains, any spells however will have to wait until tomorrow as you need to pray for them and you haven't time to do that at the moment

ok cool, but if you don't mind, I'm going to wait for a more dramatic moment for it to come into effect
Okay but don't forget the extra hp, save bonuses and the domain abilities which can count

The Fight and the DebrisMeanwhile the debris is being rapidly cleared, with one of you concentrating on this should allow one of the others to squeeze through or even fire through if necessary.
Precise Shot will be needed!
Current Initiative Order:
Talden 26
Herve 15
Bogorin 13
Brallin 12
Ogre 9
Willy 5
Tenna 4
So going into the next round first up is Talden

Strength check to move logs (1d20+2=10)
Talden in a burst of strength manages to hoist up a few of the still whole logs and reveals an opening large enough for someone to squeeze through.
Herve is up next, however you can't take the longspear with you unless you want to use it to keep the logs from falling back into place and release Talden so he can go through next round
Herve Esterel |
Herve will thi round continue to move the logs (after all , some of us might like to retreat )
Strength 19

Bogorin's up next
Bogorin Rockstomper |
Straining against the logs to move them, Bogorin prays and curses in his mind to his ex-God "Torag...ye know why I did forsake thee... fer ya dinnae protected...Her. But although I only known this big lug o' human lad fer a short time, already does 'e feel like a son tae me. I know 'e ain't got much chance against that blasted ogre on 'is own. So I tell ye true ye Great Bearded Bastard, ifn' ye ever want me back, help me protect the lad Now!"
Suddenly Borgorin feels a bolt of Holy Energy blaze through him. Vitality and Knowledge he had thought long since forgotten come flooding into his body and mind. Reeling for a moment, only his Dwarven stamina keeps the old dwarf on his feet. Then, before he can even try to lift the log it blasts apart in a shower of splinters! Not stopping at the moment to fully consider the small miracle which just befell, the furious Dwarfs roars in triumph and charges into the fray, smashing (1d20+4=13, 1d8+2=5) his warhammer into his large foe.
+2 damage for Charge if applicable, +4 to AC vs Ogre.. +Style/Story/Drama bonus?? ;-)

Squeezing through the hole being held open by Herve and Talden Bogorin rushes to Willy's aid, his initial feeling of vigor was replaced by a heady feeling he thought for a moment he had imbibed too much as another feeling filled him and his limbs felt imbued with great strength aiding his blow as he slammed into the ogre sending it reeling...
Anyone except Bogorin:

Brallin reaches into a pouch and after chanting something softly pulls from his pouch a handful of berries.
"Anyone hurt?" he asks after a moment before realising there's another battle being waged beyond the now open corridor.
He's holding 5 berries that look remarkably fresh
Meanwhile although Bogorin has struck the ogre he still views Willy as more of a threat and pulling his club back he swings at him.
Rolled a d6 to see who he'd go for 1-3 Bogorin since he's closer and 4-6 for Willy although both are in the Ogre's melee range, rolled a 4 so he uses his club and rolls an 18+6 for 24 to hit doing 1d10+4 damage and rolls a 9+4 for 13pts of damage to Willy
The blow sends Willy reeling.
Willy's turn
Willard Barnable |
"Oh, no you din't!" Willy brings the axe down again:
attack, raging: 1d20+8=21
damage, Overhand Chop: 1d12+12=17
Willy then takes a step to the side 5 ft. step, trying to set up a flanking position with Bogorin.
"Come on Bogey, we got 'em!"
Tenna Milcress |
Alright! Scooping up the strange bracer, Tenna made her way through what was left of the rubble, stepping just inside in order to ensure as clear a shot as she could get with everyone else crammed in the tunnels fighting. She pulled the special arrow out of her quiver and nocked it, taking careful aim. They trusted you with this thing! Make it count!
Gritting her teeth, she let the arrow fly.
Precise Shot avoids 4 penalty for shooting into melee
Ranged Attack Roll: 24
Damage: 8 (for a normal arrow, 1d8+1 = 7+1)

Willy steps up and slams a powerful blow enough to send the Ogre almost to his knees.
Stepping to one side trying to flank the Ogre with Bogorin they're almost in position when the Ogre lets out a startled gasp.Tottering Bogorin and Willy suddenly notice the arrow imbedded in the Ogre's chest so deeply that only its end is visible and even then they almost miss noticing it.
The Ogre drops his club and tries in vain to pull the arrow out, but it gasps for breath as its mouth begins to bubble blood as finally mortality catches up with it as it collapses face first in front of you...
Congratulations the Ogre is dead!
Tenna Milcress |
Tenna nearly dropped her bow as her arms hung limply by her sides. She wanted to cheer, but all she could manage was a deep sigh of relief as she leaned against a tunnel wall. "Thank Old Deadeye for that..." she managed between breaths. "Is everyone okay?" She couldn't believe Willy was still on his feet.
She also couldn't believe they had taken the brute down so quickly. After all the horror stories she had heard of their kind...
Bogorin Rockstomper |
Still feeling strangely exuberant and vital, Bogorin grins widely as he looks at his allies "Well done lass!" he shouts to Tenna. And, clumping a meaty hand on Willy's shoulder he says "Well, seems ye know how tae chop moren' just wood with that axe o' yers lad. Glad tae have ya on my side I am. Still, ye should learn how tae wield a Real weapon someday" he says with a wink as he hefts his warhammer.
Then looking down at the dead Ogre, all trace of mirth fades form the dwarf's face for a moment as he kicks savagely at the corpse "N' That's fer Dale!" Torn for just a moment from his Dwarven avarice telling him to loot the corpse first and his fatherly concern over his favourite barmaid, his heart wins out as he says in consternation "This still ain't over! We need tae find ma girl!" Feeling more urgent the closer they seem to get, Bogorin looks around and calls out as loud as he can "DALE! Dale! It's Me, BOGGO! Where are ye lass? I...we've come tae rescue ye! Give us a shout tae let us know where ye be!"
Listening intently for a response, if he hears none, the worried dwarf will start to move further down the passageway.
Tenna Milcress |
"Thanks..." Tenna said between breaths to Herve and Bogorin, for the first time forgetting to call Herve "sir". She was grinning now, elated by their victory and simply having survived.
It wasn't until Bogorin called out for the missing townsfolk that she snapped back to attention, remembering that they had not come simply to slay one ogre. She nocked another arrow, and tried to steel herself for the worst. She hoped the villagers were alright, but after the stories she had heard about ogre-kind...
She kept a careful eye on Bogo. Whatever happened, he'd be the one affected most.

There's no response.
In front of you the corridor leads to a junction with corridors' leading both left and right, from where he's standing Bogorin can see that the corridor on the left leads into a storeroom whilst on the right it opens into where the Ogre was living.
