About Tenna Milcress

Appearance

Tenna is a wiry young woman, light in build and gangly in limb. Her frequently dirty face is somewhat gaunt from too many missed meals, but her piercing light brown eyes show that her spirit hasn't been dulled in the least by her poverty. Her dirty blond hair is an unkempt mop. A light scar intersects the left side of her mouth.

She's dressed in rough, practical peasant garb. Her worn jerkin, leggings, and boots are all shades of brown, with only her long-liripiped dagged hood being differently colored, a deep dark green. She keeps her close-fitting hood up most of the time, leaving only her forelocks sticking out in a shock of blonde hair.

Personality

No-nonsense, yet highly superstitious, Tenna has had to go without many of the nicities of life and it shows. While she tries to remain optimistic, she always prepares for the worst. She doesn't get attatched to material goods, though there are some things that hold great sentimental value to her. Most important to her above all else is the safety and well-being of her family.

She is poorly educated; most of what she has been taught is practical for her life in Darkmoon Vale. She's also naturally lacking in refinement, although she's never crass.

Tenna, and her family, are a bit of an anomaly in Andoran. Though born and raised in a nation built on the ideals of equality, she was raised very much in the "feudal peasant" mindset. Although she is confident in herself, the idea that there are certain levels of importance people are born to and that she belongs to the bottom rung of the ladder is firmly entrenched in her mind. The nobility are to be respected and deferred to, even if only out of fear of reprisal. This may be a holdover from her parents' native country, whatever it may be.

Ever cautious, she keeps an emergency store of money tucked into the long liripipe of her hood, in case her coinpurse was ever stolen.

Background

Tenna was born and raised in a small cabin on the outskirts of Waypoint. Her parents, Baen and Tala Milcress, had moved there for reasons they never related to their children(Tenna(17), her brother Arin(14) and sister Elena(10)). Whatever their reasons, they cared for their children and tried to provide for them as best they could, though that proved difficult. Tala found work where she could at mending clothes, while Baen supported his family by hunting and infrequent logging work for the Lumber Consortium. As the eldest child, Tenna was taught and expected to do her part to care and provide for her younger siblings and her family as a whole.

When her father lost his right leg in a logging accident six months ago, Tenna had to step up to the responsibilities her father could no longer take care of. Her father absolutely forbade her to seek work of any kind from the Lumber Consortium, and in truth there was little she could possibly find there. So she took up her father's bow and started hunting to help keep her family fed. They barely made it through the winter(and she herself barely survived a close encounter with a hungry wolf), but thanks to her father training her in her childhood and the charity of their neighbors they made it. Now with the next winter coming and her father still incapable of finding new work, she is beginning to consider putting her modest skills to use in other ways.

The recent reward posted in Waypoint seemed like an ideal place to start.
