Female Human (Chelish) Commoner 1/Ranger 2

Tenna chased after Herve, calling out to those close enough between coughs. "Hey, there's somethin' on that body" she said, pointing at the fallen hobgoblin on her way past it.

I just wanted to be certain, we still have one hobgoblin up and fleeing and the slumped hobgoblin is the body I noticed something on earlier, right?

Tenna

Spoiler:
Tenna noticed the hobgoblin handler was wearing a plain copper ring on a thread hanging around his neck, it was oddly polished given who was wearing it

Female Human (Chelish) Commoner 1/Ranger 2

Uncertain of whether or not they would have a second chance, Tenna crouched and snatched the ring from the corpse before rejoining the chase.

Okay make a note Tenna has the Hobgoblin Handler's Ring okay?

Gotcha, she'll be sticking it in her pouch while on the run.

"Not without 'ole Bogo ye don't!" roars the old dwarf at no one in particular as he too takes off after the others

Where you are now:

The Corridor

Female Human (Chelish) Commoner 1/Ranger 2

"I'm fine!" Tenna shouted back, eyeing their quarry just as he was almost out of her sight. She nocked an arrow as quickly as she could and let it fly, hoping she could make the shot.

Ranged Attack:9
Damage: 3

Male Human (Taldan) Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager) 5

Where's Willy?

Hopeless , I think we need a situation check . As I understand the situation , there are no hobgoblins alive anymore so we are out of initiative . I'm also afraid we have lost some players . so let us regroup and decide what we do now .

Following the battle to reach the Ogre's Lair Bogorin, Talden and Willy entered the cave and fought a pair of hobgoblins and three fire beetles, meanwhile Herve warned by someone at the top of the hill ended up grappling with an imp which fled rather than face Herve, Brallin and Tenna. Following the others inside they found the last surviving hobgoblin had fled inside a side cavern only to be confronted by a mysterious adventurer who seemd to be the same person who had contacted Herve from atop the hill. The Hobgoblin threw some kind of alchemical vial that created a cloud to hide his attempt to escape the cavern only for Herve to pursue and slay him in the corridor outside.

Now that the cloud has subsided it appears Brallin has disappeared but with the cavern behind them clear (and still unsearched) as well as the last of its occupants dead in front of you, you have the choice of either going back outside, checking the penned area, searching the cavern you just confronted the hobgoblin within or continue further inside the Ogre's Lair.

Any questions?
Oh and Willy is still inside the cavern

Male Half - Elf Warrior/Ranger* (1/2)

"Barring a few minor scratches I'm doing just find. It looks like our friend brought to us by the north wind has left with it."

Talden looks about and assesses the situation.

"Let's do a quick search of these caverns before continuing on. I don't want to accidentally rush past our friends and needlessly risk our lives when we don't need to. Good shot on the hobgoblin Herve and Willy you are down right scary with that axe. "

Male Human (Taldan) Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager) 5

Willy grins at Talden then starts looting the Hobgoblin corpse.

"Whatcha got Gobber?"

Huffing and puffing from the short sprit and having made an incredible amount of noise in his less then perfect armor, Bogorin finally catches up to his friends and stops to catch his breath, his chest heaving like a bellows "Bin...a while...since I 'ad ta run...I guess"

Always with a Dwarven eye for loot and treasure however, he leans in curiously to see what Willy's up to "Hurry up now ya excuse for an oak..ye find anything?"

Female Human (Chelish) Commoner 1/Ranger 2

Sorry about the confusion. I saw "hobgoblin" on the map and thought "target!"

Tenna was catching her breath, but it was easier this time than it was after the fight with the goblins outside. "I'm okay too." Noticing Willy and Bogorin looking over the body, Tenna approached them and held out the ring she had retrieved. "I found this on 'im earlier, hangin' from his neck."

Male Half - Elf Warrior/Ranger* (1/2)

Talden begins searching the room they were just in looking for clues as to the location of their friends and for anything of importance.

Perception (sight/sound) check to search the room (1d20+6=17)

Willard Barnable wrote:

The hobgoblin captain is dressed in a pretty good suit of studded leather other than that he seems to be carrying a small steel shield with a Chelish longsword and what looks like a bag holding two plain javellins.

The hobgoblin handler is mostly a mess and looked like he had some ordinary studded leather as well as a bag holding a signle shattered javellin.

Willy only:

Spoiler:
The hobgoblin captain was carrying a pouch belt hidden at his waist and holds a pair of gemstones and a small pouch holding four chelish platinum pieces

Tenna Milcress wrote:

Bogorin:

Spoiler:
A plain copper ring that looks remarkably well crafted to your eyes it looks Andoran in origin but you can't place why it feels familiar

Talden Skard wrote:

Talden only:

Spoiler:
The cavern holds a crude shrine as well as a cot with signs that it served as a barracks for the hobgoblin and the goblins he had posted outside, your search uncovers a number of small pouches mostly holding silver in total about 90 andoran silver pieces as well as four clay pots holding what you think are some tisanes but you're not sure why a group of goblinoids would be doing with something more commonly seen only in a church or with nobility as far as you're concerned. If you at least 1 rank in either Knowledge/Arcane, /Religion or Spellcraft you can make a check to identify the markings on the tisane pots

Willy pulls a pouch off the Hobgoblin corpse and looks inside. "Ooooh...sparkly" he says then hands it to Bogorin. "Whatcya think a dat?" After rummaging some more he finds another and looks in that "Aaaah...and lookee here. Monies." handing it to Bogorin.

He then starts stripping the Hobgoblin of its armor.

Willy only:

Spoiler:
Masterwork armour

Female Human (Chelish) Commoner 1/Ranger 2

While holding out the ring, Tenna found herself looking behind her back.

"Hey, you don't think that thing's still out there, do ya? That demon?" She was thankful that it hadn't harried them during their fight inside, but that confused her even further. What's that thing doin' here anyway?

Bogorin sets his appraising (1d20+4=18) eye to everything Tenna and Willy have passed him. He thinks hard and tried to remember why the ring seems familiar (wisdom check (1d20+3=21))

Male Human (Taldan) Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager) 5

Willy looks up from pulling the Hobgoblin's suit of armor off.

"Demon? Out there?"

Female Human (Chelish) Commoner 1/Ranger 2

Tenna was curious about what Bogorin had to say about the ring. She wasn't quite sure why it had caught her eye like it did. She really didn't have an eye for finery, having seen so little of it.

"Ya...you didn't see it?" Tenna asked. It was all a blur, she wasn't sure who saw it or not. "This little demon thing, just outside the entrance. It was at our backs when you went in. Mister Herve saw it."

She turned to the aristocrat, her eyes begging him to confirm what she said. "Didn't you, sir?" She didn't want them thinking she was crazy, though she might have preferred the demon actually being a figment of her imagination.

Bogorin only:

Spoiler:
Knowledge/Religion will do its definitely enchanted and the reason it feels familiar is because Bogorin has seen one just like it back several years ago when a certain former adventurer showed it to him claiming he had it enchanted to hide the wearer from undead before he and his sons were ambushed by an ogre or so he had claimed...

The gems are an very small apple sized amethyst worth at least 100gp and a small marble sized onyx worth about 35gp

Bogorin pronounces his estimated value of the gems and explains why the ring seemed familiar to him (read the spoiler)

The fact that he is still able to tell that the ring is enchanted though strikes hardest. Up until this moment the old dwarf had been sure he had lost all of his previous divine or magical abilities when he had forsaken his God...but he could feel magic again?? What might this mean??.....

[occ]Sorry, not clear on this Hopeless, did you want me to roll and K Religion check Now? If so, please go ahead for me

PS Who wants to be the treasure keeper [/ooc]

No I took your check as it stands just that you'd recognise the ring as having been divinely enchanted and remember the last time you saw something similar

At the moment the ring is in Tenna's possession it's up to the group as a whole to decide who keeps it

Male Taldan Aristocrat 4

I'm not sure what kind of creature it was but it did look like a satanic creature and its powers seemed to be magical in nature .
If everyone is all right , we should proceed before it alerts the rest of the creatures in there . But let's be careful , the hobgobind did hesitate to take the way further inside . I would propose me and Bogorin at the front , Willy at the rear in case some creatures try to attack us from behin and Miss Tenna and Talden in the center .

Male Human (Taldan) Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager) 5

Willy finally gets the armor off the hobgoblin and puts his hand through the hole Talden's sword made.

"Heh, you got it good."

Herve wrote:

"Wait man, lemme put on this suit. And why I gotta be in da back?"

Female Human (Chelish) Commoner 1/Ranger 2

"Huh." Tenna's dirty face scrunched up in thought as she peered at the ring. "I wonder how a ring's supposed to protect you from ghosts..." She continued to hold it out, not daring to lay claim on it. It wasn't her place.

She checked her quiver, making sure that the special arrow was alright, and fell in line with the others, smiling at Willy's protests. She was grateful to have the huge lumberjack at their backs.

"Who was that man, anyway?"

Male Taldan Aristocrat 4

Because military tactics say it's always best to put the best armored people in front in order to survive the attacks . furthermore , if we put Bogorin or me at the rear , it would take us more time to come to the front than you .

I've got absolutely no idea of who this man can be . He has obviously his own agenda so we should not consider him as an ally until we know what this agenda is .

At Herve's words of "Not alerting the others", Bogorin grins and stands up in his loud, creaky armor "Ya mean like this? PRAY TA YER STINKIN GODS NOW YE SCUM CAUSE WERE A COMING TO KILL YA DEAD!" As he bangs on his shield with his hammer.

Trying for once to exhibit at least a modicum of diplomacy though, he does turn to Herve and puts a hand on his shoulder saying "Sorry lad, but I reckon whoever's waitin' fer us in there already knows we're comin'. That hobogobo screamed like a girl when he got hisself kilt on Talden's sword there. Ah, no offense meant o'couse Tenna. Anyway, I figure if dey already know were comin', maybe if dey be scared or angry dey might make a mistake, eh?"

Turning then to Willy Bogorin grins and says "And what ye be griping about ye bastard son o' a Treant? Why, jus two steps of those tree trunk legs o yorn and ye'll be right up at the front with Herve and misself"

Happy with his masterful diplomatic efforts the surprisingly sober dwarf begins humming a dwarven war chant as he stomps off eagerly, and noisily, further into the cave, his hammer already swinging slightly as he imagines the skulls he's about to crush with it.

"YEE HAW!" Willy bellows down the tunnel "We're comin' ta get ya!"

Bogorin wrote:

"He he. Yeah, and I'll watch fer dat udder dude. And dat demon. I wanna kill a demon. What's e look like?"

Willy finally squeezes into the hobgoblin armor. "Umph, a lil' tight."

Male Taldan Aristocrat 4

Stop eating so much then !
And Bogorin , I meant we should not give too much time for the others to prepare themselves

Although he would agree with Herve completely on his last statement/correction, Bogorin unfortunately cannot hear him as he's already stomping his way down the tunnel, looking for some enemies ta bash.

Oh and a mini-retcon: As Tenna evidenced her reluctance to hold onto the ring earlier, Bogorin gently took it from her saying "Ye be jus as good as any o us ta bear dat ring girl, don't sell yerself short. But, if ye wish, ole Bogo kin hold onta it fer now."

If she passes it to him, Bogorin holds it in his palm for several more moments, staring at it with a strange look on his face, a look evincing surprise, puzzlement, wonder, anger, and even a little bit of hope perhaps. Finally he sighs and tucks it away carefully before moving down the hall.

Female Human (Chelish) Commoner 1/Ranger 2

Tenna will hand over the ring. She sees Bogo as a bit of a parental/authority figure anyway.

Tenna's eyes widened and gritted her teeth at the sound of Bogorin and Willy's outburst, ducking a bit instinctively as if the entire place was about to come down around them. "Shhh!" Gods! Haven't any of them been hunting before? She continued to whisper, a bit ridiculously as if it would somehow balance out the earlier shouting. "It looked like...you know...a demon. A little one, with wings and horns. And a tail. I don't know, it all happened really fast. It seemed to frighten easy though. I hope."

For Hopeless:

Spoiler:
I don't have any of those skills so I can't make the check.

Talden quickly stuffs the pouches of money into his backpack before heading back to join the others.

"I finished searching the other room and I didn't find much other than some silver pieces and a few jars of herbs with some kind of strange markings on them. Where ever our friends are they are most likely further down the cave and it looks like we should probably catch up with Bogorin."

Perception: 1d20+6=20

Everbody can hear someone groan somewhere ahead of them.

"OW! ME HEAD, ME SHOULDN'T HAVE DRUNK THAT! OWW!" someone groans echoing throughout the caves as its footsteps echo throughout the caves just not as much as his groans.

In case you're wondering you woke up the ogre!

Around the corner

Stepping around the corridor you see it bends out of sight with only a pile of logs in one corner of any interest but you can still hear something big moving around somewhere ahead...

So Bogorin gets to add the Hobgoblin Animal Handler's ring to his equipment then

Male Taldan Aristocrat 4

'BOGORIN , COME BACK ! Willy and Talden blocking the exit and Bogorin and me at the entrance of the cave we just came from ! Tenna , stay behind Talden !

Hopeless, can you please show us where we would be on the map at present?

Without even consciously realizing it, as he stomps along, Bogorin slipped the ring out of the pouch he had put it in and slipped it on his finger...

Female Human (Chelish) Commoner 1/Ranger 2

"Right!" Tenna whispered back to Herve, sticking close behind Talden. She fidgeted with the special arrow, sorely tempted to nock it now, but she suspected she might let it fly at the wrong target if they came upon their quarry suddenly.
