Yes more male aasimar and tiefling beefcake would be well welcome.
In all seriousness (actually, I *am* serious about the above) - one of the reasons I dig Paizo- one of the *many* reasons- is that no one seems to have an aneurysm when the very existence of queer people is mentioned. I started an LGBT thread on the WOTC thread 3-4 years back and the level of discourse- was- um- low.
I way appreciate Paizo for putting in some LGBT characters. I had this conversation with Mr. Mona at the same time, '04 or whenever- giving him a shout-out for mentioning the same-sex attraction of some Greyhawk character, I believe it was. This was in Dungeon mag, I think. I told him it was the first matter-of-fact queer reference I could ever remember in YEARS of D&D consumption - let alone a tolerant one. And Paizo's been continuing the good effort, with several characters here and there.
Yet another way Paizo proves itself to not be completely clueless, wrong-headed, and hidebound- like certain other companies I could mention...

I like the idea of PG-13 and up in gaming.
And will there be any spanking???
Only one request. If possible, get S. John Ross to write it. After al, his city of Shadow River gave us a dwarven strip club, an elven brothel, and a temple built by a hideously ugly man who declared himself a god after his fourth wife finally consented to consumate the marriage. All of his other marriages were unconsumated. The temple itself is so hideously ugly that a popular past time is to sit around and bet on the number of people who will lose their lunch upon seeing it. Fun stuff.

So, I've been listening to the audio of the Pathfinder Adventure Path seminar (thanks Graywulfe), and apparantly the city of Katapesh, where Legacy of Fire is going to be set, has Tiefling Prostitutes.
This is good. I want one in the modules. :D
Well the Tiefling Prostitute makes an appearance in Riddleport in Second Darkness. Katapesh goes way beyond that, it is the city where you can buy anything for the right price. Tiefling prostitutes? You can find 3 before breakfast in Katapesh, lets try to find something truly bizarre.

One thing that has become clear for me is that Paizo is treading the mature audience road while "the other one" is on a juvenile road
Neither is better, but Id rather be on the mature audience. That goes from the style of adventures (less hack 'n slash, more story-driven) to some content (Calistria and Cayden Cailean) and art
That, of course, reflets on who uses its boards and how it is used. Kudos to us ;)
Now, back to the topic, it sounds like AP5 will be all around Cheliax and Nidal (says Dectective Me), so I guess we can see quite some tiefling showing around, male, female and androginous ;)
Mmm... what about that assimar prostitute? Sounds like a great fit for this AP as a tragic character the party meets. Especially if at first they think the assimar is been forced to do what he/she does, then realize its not exactly that way...
We need more heroic prostitutes! All Hail Firefly!

There has been way too much mention of Cayden Cailean, drunkness, rotgut, liquor, and booze generally. The hooker mentions are probably about right, but there's entirely too little blow.
Ergo, you need an aasimar blackguard of Nor^H^H^H Blackfingers who keeps his tiefling easy boys on the columbian marching powder. Because JI of Nor^H^H^H Father Skinsaw was a glass jaw, we want somebody tougher for the next aspect.

While I'm not looking for outright porn (which tends to distract from the game, and well... anything else), I've developed a certain distaste for what I term a 'puritanical mindset' with regard to sexual themes or topics. I find it silly to stick our heads in the sand and pretend it doesn't exist, or influence things - if not outright hypocritical.
Thus, seeing PG-13/PG-17/and up rated stuff definitely strikes me as far superior towards a more 'puritanical' mindset. Paizo has done a good job, in my mind, towards this end.
By contrast, I'm not all that comfortable with having sexual themes prominently featured in my RPG materials. Sexuality is by nature an intensely personal thing, and I'd rather not delve into it amongst a group of casual friends/acquaintances.

As "Standard Fantasy Fare" as Runelords, Curse, or Shadow is, yeah.
And what's not "standard" about prostitutes? Things must be way different at your work.
Everything I needed to learn about prostitutes was listed in the original DMG along with a long string of colorful synonyms for prostitutes.
Me, I just want my "brazen strumpet doppleganger."

Huge difference if you ask me. One is a human(oid) infused with seductive hellishness, the other is, well, a furry.

The problem with trying to redeem a calistrian prostitute is that from her point of view, she's plenty redeemed already. One man's vice is another's virtue.
I bet Cal's got no problem finding converts.
"Mother, I have sinned."
"What have you done?"
"I have sought carnal knowledge with a number of men."
"You're not a follower of the Savoured Sting yet, are you?"
"No. Why?"
"Because for us, that's not a sin. It's practically our divine duty. The more we do that, the more divine spells we're granted."
"You mean I get to be granted power and favour of the Goddess for doing things I greatly enjoy?"
"Yeah."
"Where do I sign up?"
i should have known better than try to read upward to see what was that comment about...
Alas. What has the world come to, when words like "SHATTER YOUR MIND LIKE KINDLING IN A STORM!" is seen as an enticement to seek out the source of that storm.
Wait, that sentence needs a ? at the end.
Consider this a warning: If you follow where the Malkovian points, you'll have a headache - if you're lucky.

I beg to differ on one point. If one reads carefully, there has been at least one reference to same-sex attraction in the Forgotten Realms.
Check out p. 143 of the 3e FR Campaign Setting. The ruler of the city of Elversult is female, and the text specifically states that her consort is also female. If one goes even further back, to FR Adventures (the hardcover update of the FR setting to 2e, before the second box came out), there is a more veiled reference to the same couple (no use of the word "consort").
Granted, these references are probably more Ed Greenwood's influence than any decision on the part of TSR/WotC.
KaeYoss |
I agree, this was probably Ed's work. I can't remember anything right now, but I could swear that he had more mentions of homosexuals.
Other than that, and maybe something in the two mature books (Book of Vile Darkness and Book of Exalted Deeds), WotC seems hellbent on avoiding anything that could scare or confuse a sheltered five-year-old.
One thing I just love about Golarion is that they ignore that little girl and cater to grown-ups. Your average fantasy world's not a pony ranch. Pretty Happy Worlds are nice, if you want to play in the DWCS*, but otherwise, I'd like game worlds a bit more credible.

I'm pretty sure I wrote some stuff about Llira's priestesses being bisexual or something in Faiths & Pantheons. I don't have that book here with me on vacation, but I'm sure it's in there.
The gay NPC I created that was mentioned up above is in the Living Greyhawk Journal section of the Dragon that included articles on con games and stuff.

I just checked Lliira's entry in Faiths and Pantheons for you! :)
There's a section which describes how Lliira took as a lover one of her high priestesses (in Selgaunt, during the Time of Troubles). When said priestess was murdered by some cultists of Loviatar, the church formed the Scarlet Mummers in reaction to that event.

I can't believe I didn't think of this earlier. I've been reading this thread on-and-off, and thought, "hey, I'd play a male tiefling prostitute!", 'cuz I'm weird like that. But since I'm currently backlogged on PCs/DMPCs at the moment, he'd have to wait to become an adventurer until, oh, AP 6 or so, I'd guess.
So, next best thing. I'm doing sets of commoners/NPCs on my DeviantART page (current set is here), and a set of prostitutes is definitely in the queue. Since Calistria loves the tieflings (among other mixed-blood humanoids, as we all know), and since a lot of Calistria's faithful serve as sacred prostitutes, I could easily do a set of tiefling ones.
So, if you could SEE the tiefling prostitutes on your game table (IN PAPER MINI FORM- what you fantasize about on your own time is not my business), what would you want them to look like? Horns? Tail? Vestigal wings? Claws? Unnatural coloration? Goat legs (shudder)? Obnoxious Emo haircut and pouty lips?
Still need to ink those damn gnolls, but I'm chompin' at the bit for another odd project.
PS- If given permission from someone at Paizo, I'll do a mini of whatever tiefling prostitute(s) pop up in the Guide to Katapesh or whatevs and add it to the pile, too, but that's at least two months off.
